If you attend this school, you will be ready for college and managing the issues involved with larger schools. It is imperative that students look for ways to self-advocate and imperative to get involved in clubs or other activities. Parents will need to be more involved to help with a 4-year plan to use the many options available at the school. The music program is excellent in all areas, choir, orchestra and band... the athletic opportunities are strong (although if you are a casual player, you may not make Varsity or JV)... the clubs can sometimes fill up too much and they have to have try-outs. It can be frustrating to be 'locked out' of an opportunity, but it is good learning for life in general. Best wishes as you choose high schools!

I had to help more as the level increased. Wish all homework was covered in class, but follow-up support helped. Daughter: I think that RSM helped me stay ahead in math class, as I learned the content before, which makes school much easier. First open house ~ some woman thinks SHE can determine where we can sit. I DON'T THINK SO. I later learned that this "Entitled" attitude runs rampant. Principal is extremely proud of their "legacy" policy. Let me get this straight ~ you would rather accept an "F" caliber student who has siblings attending or parents who attended rather then a "B" student with NO previous ties to this school? The resounding "yes" sealed the deal. Get the picture? Our education dollars were spent at another private school.

The walls were always covered with art and they have a crossing guard during peak hours to make sure the kids cross the streets safely. They also have bussing if your children live too far! The playground is open to all as well. It's usually full of kids during the summer just hanging out. Very safe area. Great swings, slides and other do hickies. Has two hoops as well for basketball.

The facility on the inside in older and could use improvement, but for a large high school, it's not terrible, but not great either. It's a sad statement in this day and age that we need metal detectors at school, but unfortunately, West has one. No fault of the school, but it's quite an interesting sight.
