I was always interested in trying their Christmas trolley tour. My family ended up taking another family's tickets last minute because they couldn't go. They don't offer refunds, but you can give or sell your tickets to someone else. You just need to give the company their name and phone number so they can inform the driver as they take attendance. Since things happen and people get sick this time of year that's a nice option. We got lucky and had a warm night for our Christmas trolley tour. It was 40 degrees, the windows weren't foggy, no rain or snow. Given our luck in weather, it made for an absolute fantastic time! Everyone also arrived on time so we were able to start a few minutes early and the driver took us to a few extra homes which I appreciated. Otherwise, they suggest that you bring a small towel to wipe the windows since the trolley is heated and the windows fog. I'm glad the trolley is heated. The company does a nice job mapping out which homes to go to. Earlier in the season there may be less decorated homes, but the weather might be better. Later in the season, I would imagine there's going to be more decorated homes. I appreciate that the company puts a lot of effort into their map and what homes they visit. The driver did a nice job taking us around and narrating. My favorites were the Taylor Swift decorated house and the decorations that are coordinated with music. In the past, we have driven around ourselves, but this just made it a lot more relaxing and was worth the cost. The cost does not include tipping the driver, so make sure to tip. The tour was an hour long, which was perfect for me but a little too long for my 3 1/2 year-old. Other reviewers mentioned wanting a 90 minute tour. If they could offer 60 and 90 minute tours I think that would be good options. Otherwise, the 60 minutes was perfect. Another idea: They could also offer a boozy tour later at night for adults only. We rode the kids' 20 minute Trolley tour with our 3 1/2 year old and 9 mo. old granddaughters. It was fantastic!! The kids had a blast! Even the 9 mo. old was smiling and enjoying the ride. I went on the Christmas light trolley ride tour and it was so much fun! We sat in the back of the trolley and it was a party. Alcohol and snacks were being passed around like crazy! It was so much fun. Everyone on the ride (at least in the back) was being very generous with their snacks and drinks and it was all in good fun. Alcohol is allowed on the trolley of course. The crowd was mostly made up of older folks (50s+) but my bf and I still had a lot of fun hanging with them. The lights are spectacular and even though I live in the area, the driver took us to a lot of places that I hadn't seen before! Probably doing it next year too! read more

Took the trolley tour of Naperville Christmas lights, if you do it, make a reservation via email. The logistics experience was GREAT. Email the day of the event as a reminder, phone call 5 min before as we were running behind. (know where the stop is, we were off by a block since Jefferson & Jackson are easily confused in your mind.) The trolley was ehhh, clean, warm but crowded, they pack them full for sure. Wood benches were well polished so sliding around was normal. The sound system needs a little help, multiple speakers placed through it would make the sound more evenly distributed allowing for conversations but preventing surrounding conversations from impacting your enjoyment of the music. The driver was pretty unexcited and kept telling us the negatives... "if you've been on here before, you will see many of the same lights", "we don't have time to see this one", "over there is a 30' tree which is normally lit, but not tonight". He was overly excited to tell us we were at the end of the ride and forgot to mention he works for tips... so many left the ride without tipping him. I gave a little for the information and experience, not his personality. Will I do it again next year for my kid, yeah. Do I think it is a can't miss experience, not right now... but they could make it that way with a little more training of the drivers, or a 2nd employee riding as 'spirited tour guide' and a sound system upgrade. read more

The children's tour was such a cute experience to do with my 3 year old daughter and our neighbors. It's a short, 30 minute ride and the trolley is so clean and well kept. You are picked up from Jackson DT on the river. The children's songs are a little overkill bc it's hard to hear with them but they do such a nice job of keeping the kids entertained and allowing them to ring the bell on the way off. The only thing I knocked off one star for is that they charge for everyone even lap children. Really young babies should not be the same price as adults. read more

Just wanted to enjoy a winter trolley ride with my kids & family. Annette quickly took my $200 deposit, then cancels on us by choice. She tells us 26 days before our scheduled trolley ride, as the contract states no refunds under 30 days...how convenient. Feels very shady. She wants to give ornaments or a credit (not to be used for the next holiday season) instead of doing the right thing and refunding customers. My fiance did all the booking for the trolley for our wedding so I had never spoken with her prior to the big day, but she greeted me with a huge smile and "ding ding" of the trolley bell. I bought and reserved 9 spots on the Christmas Lights Tour(south) for family. It was a nice time, my only slight complaint is IMO the tour should be 90 minutes rather than just 60, I'd be willing to pay more for a slightly longer tour. The trolley we were on was very nice, looked newer and very clean and well kept. Driver was friendly and courteous. There was Christmas music playing the entire time, my daughter and nieces loved it and were signing along. Even though we went on one of the colder nights of the season the temp on the trolley was comfortable. The windows do fog up so I suggest bringing a small towel or hand towel to occasionally wipe of your window. Their website says beverages are allowed but did not specify if alcoholic beverages were allowed or not so since it did not say they were not allowed I brought some adult eggnog drinks. Knowing that we had a very large wedding party, and having lived in Naperville for several years, we knew that a limo just wasn't going to be enough space and that trolleys are frequently out and about around Naperville! We booked with Naperville Trolley far in advance for our summer wedding to ensure we could get a large enough trolley. Annette was such a pleasure to work with throughout the booking process, even working with our timeline to assign the correct number of hours to our driver. As our wedding approached, Naperville Trolley acquired a new trolley with air conditioning, and Annette assigned the trolley to us for our hot, July wedding day at no additional charge! She was also extremely thorough, with a phone call a few days before the wedding to go over the wedding day timeline, as well as to check on any additional needs. She was familiar with our picture location at the Arboretum and was able to make suggestions as to where we could drive and where the trolley could not go. She potentially saved the day by letting us know that the trolley could not go to some photo locations so I could coordinate with my photographer beforehand! She followed up with an email to confirm all wedding day details and introduced us to our driver, Harry. On our wedding day, Harry was on-time and ready to go. He even had a special song ready to go on the trolley for our trip to the church! He let one of my bridesmaids DJ the rest of the music with a playlist she had created on her iPhone. Harry was friendly, professional, and helpful throughout our entire trip, especially through the Arboretum! He expertly navigated the narrow Arboretum roads, finding great places to stop and wait for us to get on and off the trolley. He worked with my photographer to get us to the correct locations for photos, and he even hopped off the trolley with umbrellas when we were caught in a spontaneous rain shower! After our wedding, we received a thank you note/congratulatory note from both Harry and Annette! We booked the Naperville trolley for our wedding because our bridal party had 14 people in it. It would have been a tight fit into any limo and since we were in Naperville, the trolley was a good fit for us! The trolley was ready waiting for us after the ceremony. It took us around Downtown Naperville for pictures on the Riverwalk which was great because parking is a nightmare down there. It was great to have everyone all together. We got some great trolley pictures. We were able to listen to music on the trolley which made the ride a lot of fun! Also you can drink on the trolley. Our driver was Sully and he was awesome! He had about 6 different hats he wore during the drive. One of them was a top hat with a bride and groom on it. He was so nice and flexible. Everybody had a wonderful time on the trolley.
