I had heard that this place was one of the best Italian restaurants in the area, but I didn't expect it to be as good as it is. I expected Italian American, with its unassuming front, plain tables, and stock pictures of babies posed next to vegetables. Comfy. But look right and see the heart of the well run professional kitchen. The food is excellent. Classic and fresh, all the dishes keep the spirit of Italian food. I have had a lot of different things: the carbonara, ragu, crab cakes, clams, desserts and cocktails. So my girlfriend is from Kenya and my last name is Sasso. Very Italian. I heard amazing reviews and comments about Nap's and I wanted to surprise my girlfriend who is getting her masters in business management at the college there. The college of Indiana of Pennsylvania brings a lot of business to Naps from my understanding. So I was super excited to let her experience Italian food for the first time. This is not what my $52 dollars got me and it was a very bad experience all around. So when my Kenyan girlfriend got this I was so stoked to have her experience authentic Italian food. So ya she she called me and i video chatted with her from Georgia, I was so defeated and I felt so bad that she didn't like any of the food. And the worst part when I called was that the manager apologized but didn't do anything to make it right. I let him know I was going to post and he apologized again. I went for the first time. got chicken carbona which i was told it was like Olive Gardens Carbonara. not at all. The chicken was thighs not breast and very over cooked. got about 8 quarter size pieces... the pasta was great! another thing with this dish was there was waaaay to much black pepper that you could not taste the sauce which was on the dry side. also it cost $27. apparently the prices online are not up to date with what they charge. lastly they do not offer bread or soup/ salad with my pasta. Don't let the outside fool you. One of the best meals we've had! The servers are all attentive. I had the wedge salad and it was crisp and flavorful. The bread was delicious. I wholeheartedly think a business should make a profit but there is absolutely no value here. Bread was great. the Italian long bean app was nice. Very oddly undercooked fresh pasta. Most fresh pasta I've had is never al dente so this must be dried first...chewy, gummy and hard... Boxed pasta cooked correctly would have been far superior. It's amazing what 50 years can do. Nap Patti's Bar, where many afternoons were spent drinking cheap beer, becomes Naps Cucina Mia. It was Indiana meets NYC. There were snazzy cocktails, a nice wine selection, great bread, and terrific italian food. Dining with friends who are now from all over the US, NY,SF, Sedona, was easy, and none of us were disappointed. Atmosphere was like Greenwich Village rather than Philadelphia St. It was a very nice unexpected pleasure. Next time I'll wear all black instead of jeans and flannel(nice flannel). read more

We enjoyed a fabulous meal with friends at Nap's. We started with delicious cocktails and salads and moved on to pasta and pizza, before finishing with stupendous deserts! I highly recommend this fine restaurant. We ate on the patio, so we could enjoy the fine pastas of Nap's and the pizzas from Josephine's. All of the food was stupendous. Literally one of my favorite places...from the people to the food it is all amazing! My boyfriend and I were going to be in the area and I literally planned my night around dinner here. When I was in college...my sister and I would go here to make up for the fact that we were missing Sunday dinners at home...in all these years this place has never disappointed! We grabbed a seat at the bar...there were tables available but from this spot you can see them cooking your meal. The kitchen is open and the cooks took time while making dinner to talk with us and make recommendations on places to eat when we visit Italy this summer. We started with the Caprese...the tomatoes were very fresh and the mozzarella and olive oil were amazing. I also ordered a glass of wine and they brought out fresh bread. For dinner, my boyfriend had the Panna with homemade fettuccine and chicken and I got the Arrabbiata with homemade linguine and sausage. I stole a bite of his...it was creamy and rich...the pasta was cooked perfectly! Mine was amazing...a bit of spice...but not too much...and crispy pancetta gave the sauce a ton of flavor. I was literally trying to grab up every last bit with my bread. Needless to say we left happy and full! We will definitely be back as this is our go to place when we are in the area! This is a cozy restaurant loaded with atmosphere! Happy staff seated us and our waitress was friendly and helpful. I started with the soup of the day...it was tomato based with gorgonzola cheese...absolutely delicious! Creamy with a zing. For dinner I had pasta...a dish called Popeye. A legendary spot from modern times that pairs together beautiful wines and homemade pasta. The flavors that just complements piece after piece of what you consume. The outdoor ambience and seating arrangement was ideal even in this early springtime. We felt warm and comfortable and away from the wind. We will be back again and again. I had the bass with the basil pesto and a side order of their gnocchi the basil pesto on the bass was stellar which made room for a Pinot noir to be consumed in the nice complementary comforting gnocchi put me to bed with a coffee for the road and a memory for my books. I had high expectations after reading the 5 star reviews but was left displeased with the food and service. Initially, the waitress was attentive but after taking our food order and bringing drinks she was nowhere to be found except talking to a small group of people at a nearby table. Our salads came out and a few minutes our food came....she came by about 5 minutes later and apologized for them coming together but at that point the food has been on the table for a bit. The food was just ok, in my opinion. I got classic spaghetti and meatballs. I found the food to be bland and very dry. After waiting for 20 minutes and watching our waitress seat two larger parties, we finally asked another person who I believe was the owner or manager to bring us the bill. read more

Great authentic Italian We had heard really good things about Nap's from friends and family and were anxious to try it for ourselves. Let me tell you, they did not disappoint! Overall the experience was great. We were warmly greeted at the door and escorted to our seats. It was our first time there and our waitress was very patient describing the extensive list of specials as well as patiently answering all of our questions regarding the various pasta types and sauces. The food was exceptional and was made to order. It was obvious they used fresh ingredients including homemade pasta...nothing frozen here. We especially loved our melon/Speck appetizer and the house dressing on the salad was amazing. Our pasta dishes were delicious and the Gnocchi melted in your mouth. The service was great and we were made to feel welcome by all of the staff. One thing of note...the restaurant is on the smaller side so you may have to wait if you go during the prime hours. We were there early and had no such issues, but it was full by the time we left. We will for sure go to Nap's next time we are in Indiana and are also looking forward to trying their sister pizza place, Josephine's, next door. read more

I have always liked Nap's, but there is a lot of room for improvement after this evening. The wait staff, and by that I mean the young men and women who are very loyal to the owners as employees, needed more help. There was only one out on the patio. It was my birthday, and I had people coming into town. Wanted them to enjoy dinner. But we waited over 30 minutes just to place an order for drinks. No silverware/napkins were on the table. We had to ask for them. And the older female owner is rude. She saw us multiple times with literally nothing at the table, but refused to make eye contact. When we asked for some help, a little service, she was not nice about it. The pancetta was over cooked in my dish. Lamb shanks were again over cooked. The pasta was gummy, and there was no creaminess to the Carbonara. And all of the food appeared rushed in the making of it. It was very disappointing. read more

First time visiting and was disappointed at pasta serving sizes. They were minute compared to any other places I've been. They were very child size, they look more like a side and any side except bread is ala carte. My basically alfredo sauce with minute scallops was $26 alone. I left there starving. A side salad was $7 and it was bland, no choice of dressing, my friend had that. He ordered Swordfish now his was delicious! He got red potatoes with it that were tiny and bland and a handful of arugulas that may have had oil on it, not sure just bland, no taste. The server also offered him a side salad that he said went with it. Well, we got charged at the end. I even ask the server "so you mean you get 2 different salads with this meal" and he said yes which I thought was odd. I ask for asiago to help give my tasteless pasta some taste he brought me thick slices. How can I melt that in my pasta that got cold in 5 minutes. Bread was delicious and swordfish was but pasta was for a child and tasteless. Very loud in there and seated maybe 18" from table beside you, we won't return. read more

Nap's is just remarkable. I do not know if they would share my sentiment about how Covid provided something amazing or not but from an outside of Indiana, PA resident, what I was able to enjoy may have just been the result of creative and an almost romantic way to bring patrons to the restaurant. Within moments of my friend leading me to an alleyway which I perceived to be my resting place or a scene from Batman, I glanced to the right and saw various tables and the wait staff buzzing. My brain struggled to reconcile this industrial, back alley, Italian, authentic, spray painted brick, heart exploding with excitement, feel. I mean what was I invited to? I felt like I was immediately a part of a neighborhood secret that I was entrusted with. Almost undeserving to be able to take part in whatever would transpire. And a lot transpired. The waiter and waitresses were exceptionally friendly. Really, everyone was. I never went without water, someone stopping by to say hello to my friend, waves, food suggestions and just the stories of the neighborhood filled me up. I was given some suggestions on the food and I decided to try the Nap's Burger. Although it is not stated on the menu, Nap's burger has a little kick to it...which I dig. But it isn't just meat and hot sauce, you see. It is a creative combo of spices which is shared within several ingredients in the burger. Each bite is complicated but while you are guessing how this burger somehow works, you take joy in the journey. My friend ordered a salad with filet (I think), which he tells me he dreams about. To be fair, looking at the salad and that filet on it, I would most certainly dwell on it from time to time. We also grabbed a pizza for the table. As I butcher the name - which I think is soprosa - it knocked my socks off. To be fair, I wasn't wearing socks, but still, it knocked my proverbial socks off. Savory meat, vinaigrette, a bunch of things I could not tell what they were but who cares because it was amazing; perfectly crispy but chewy thin dough....I wanna go back. Here's the thing - that back patio and that vibe is so unique and so perfect; the food almost seems secondary. But with Nap's, the food is just as good. We came in with no reservation and within minutes they moved things around to accommodate us on a busy Friday night. The service was great and the food was amazing. We all enjoyed our meals. I had the swordfish and it was the best swordfish I have had. The brussel sprouts and arugula salad were also yummy. My table mates also really enjoyed their meals of crab cakes and pasta. The moment you walk in you know this is it. It's a small place, seats between 35-40ish. There was already a waiting list and we got there at 5. It opens at 4:30. Went next door to the bar, which is a pizzeria called Josephine's. Got drinks and noticed it has a wood burning pizza oven. A plus in my book! At 45mins, we got to sit at the copper bar, directly in front of the "small kitchen" where the chef and sous chef worked. We watched in awe at the efficiency of both chefs. The place was rocking, but you wouldn't notice the two cooking. Poetry in motion. Placed our orders and got to witness them being prepared in front of us. It was a moment, I'll never forget. Let's just say everything we got was fabulous! We were tasting each others dishes. Pastas, wedding soup, tiramisu and cannoli! I will be back! No doubt! Bringing friends along next time!
