Slow service. Didn't bring all the food for breakfast at the same time and when the rest arrived it was cold. Runny eggs.

The service at the Home Made is quick and accurate. The food is good. Location is great for those passing through.

While the service here has been improving and is almost as good as when Debbie was here the quality of the food is decreasing. The favorite dinners are not always available, french fries and fish are overcooked, and desserts are lacking in flavor and availability. I don't expect a 3-star salad, but a tomato would be nice. In the past there would be 6 or 8 types of pie to choose from. I had a choice of 3 pies. The cinnamon rolls were to die for but what I got, Pillsbury canned cinnamon rolls tasted as good. It's not the server's fault. I hope they get back to the quality they used to insist on. Until then I will be dining somewhere else. read more

Breakfast. Oh breakfast. Time and again you have places taking shortcuts on breakfast. Sadly it is hard to find a place that serves good food at a fair price. That being said, The Home Made Restaurant does it right. First of all they have a specials section that actually presents value. I got the #3 which is 3 eggs any style, home fries, toast with coffee and juice INCLUDED for $6. That's a great value. More important is the food quality. Marble Rye toast, whole eggs and really decent coffee. Very good stuff. The service is nice and they are all very friendly. Love it. read more

The Home Made Restaurant is your quintessential hometown family owned restaurant. The menu is full of home cooked comfort foods. They are great for breakfast or lunch/dinner! This place is nestled right along the main drag in Home. Definitely a "blink-and-you-missed-it" kind of place. Quaint and cozy. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. It's all very good. Personally, I love the breakfasts here! Their pancakes are quite yummy! The service here is pretty good! Staff makes you feel like family. Food can be a tad slow to get out, but it depends on who is in the kitchen. The place could definitely use some upgrades. The flooring, tables and chairs are all very well used. Wait staff is very friendly and it's very clean a little worn maybe but that just means it's had lots of visitors ! The staff was friendly. That's the only positive. The restaurant was dirty. The restrooms were disgusting and the kitchen had an insect infestation. During a time off COVID one would expect the cleanliness to be more important to a business owner. The food was mediocre at best. Cheap ingredients and easy meals at cheap easy prices. So, we're driving down the 119 when I see a sign: "Village of HOME". "Hey!" I said, "Look! We're home!" And nobody believed me. My brother used to have an ambition to buy up a ghost town somewhere and rename it to "Own Risk", because he figured he could set up a gift shop there and sell T-shirts with slogans like "I parked at Own Risk" or "I swam at Own Risk". "Home" is a name with even more potential. Just think of setting up a Motel and calling it "Welcome Home". The tourist slogans just naturally occur: "Come Home for Thanksgiving", or "On Our Last Vacation, We Stayed at Home". Apparently, I'm not the only one who recognises the punderful opportunities presented by this place, since the local eatery is called "The Home Made Restaurant". With a name like that, I just had to eat there at the first opportunity, so I took my sweetie there for lunch. I ordered the Gyro Pita Sandwich. (Yeah, I know, this place is all about "comfort food", but I hadn't had Middle Eastern food in yonks, and for me, it *is* comfort food.) It was good, but instead of either rolling the pita around the filling, or else cutting the pita in half and stuffing the filling into the pocket, as most places I've been do, they treat the pita as if it's normal bread, giving you two pitas with the filling between them. Everything was present and accounted for, and it tasted good, but the results were even messier than usual for me, and my brand new T-shirt now has tzatziki on it. My sweetie was too busy going "Mmmm!" and rolling her eyes to talk much, but I think she might just possibly have enjoyed her steak salad. It certainly looked good. The service was friendly, the prices were reasonable, the decor has a kind of "come on in and make yourself comfortable" kind of ambiance, and it was clear that most of the clientele were locals who would have been just as happy to eat there, even if there had been competition in the neighbourhood. I don't know when I'll be back in that neck of the woods, but when I am, I'm pretty sure I know where I'll be eating. read more

We were on our way home from Pittsburgh and decided to give the little diner a try. My girlfriend and I both had the homemade turkey dinner with green beans, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, and sweet potatoes. We also had salad and a cup of soup. The best restaurant in Home. Well, it may be the only restaurant in Home, but don't let that sway you. This place has been open for years due to the loyal clientele that keep coming back for more. If you are in the area this is definitely a good option for dinner. They have really good homemade desserts. The best is one called "cream puff pie," I think. read more

Great little diner we found on a Sunday afternoon when we were in the area for an estate sale. Very friendly waitress, very reasonable prices and the food was really good. My husband got the hot turkey sandwich and he said he loved it...especially the real mashed potatoes. I was saving room for dessert so I just got a grilled cheese which was made with Texas toast and was served with lots of potato chips. We both got pie for dessert. All homemade and really fresh. Stopped today and found the place packed?? Food was OK but the place was dirty, picture frames and ceiling fans were dirty. If it's dirty out front then it's dirty in the back. I seem to be in the minority had to wait to find a seat. read more

All the dishes we have had have been good. Their breakfast, on weekends can get pretty busy and with the size of the restaurant and staff that means it can be a longer wait. I recommend the buffalo chicken Alfredo for their dinner and biscuits with sausage gravy for their breakfast. read more
