This review is for Nardelli's catering. My manager ordered for a New Year's lunch and the food was...just okay. The stuffed shells were tasteless and the sausage and peppers were greasy. The chicken parm COULD have been good but the temperature, like all the 'hot' foods we received, was off. In other words, all the hot foods were barely lukewarm. The Italian Salad antipasto was tasty, but that's really the only minor standout of this meal. Except the cookies! They were amazing. read more

Well .... Our relationship has come to an unfortunate unexpected and completely unnecessary end. As a 15 year amazingly satisfied customer and strong advocate of the delicious grinders from Nardelli's - I was formally refused service today as I did not have a theatrical facial diaper on my face. I was told - " I will not serve you without a mask" This individual was 10' from me with a plexiglass shield separating us .. Additionally ... there are customers eating their meals 3' from where I was ordering ... obviously without a mask as they were eating ... So I must order with a mask - can then walk 3' and take it off and eat in complete safety ? I am dumbfounded by their policy? This is their business and they may establish whatever policy they desire ... unfortunately, they have permanently lost a great repeat customer and advocate for their business due to a completely unnecessarily draconian and quite frankly ignorant internal policy. Nardelli's was a nice surprise. I used to drive by their original location all the time but it was always on a Sunday when they were closed. We finally drove back on a Saturday and decided to stop in. We knew it wasn't the original but hoped it would be the same or similar. Let's start by saying their kids meal is a great deal. My two daughters each got a nice size sandwich, chips, a cookie and a drink. This was real food not fast food and that is always a win. I got a large Italian and it lasted me two days. The bread was very good. I would definitely stop here again. I don't want to even mention another sandwich shop to compare it to but this is not anything like subway. This is a real deli. read more

I've tried Nardelli's four times now, and I have never had my order made correctly. I feel like these folks are rolling dice to see what's going to get placed on there. This last sandwich I ordered was $almost 17, and it is inedible. Two pieces of deli meat - one ham and one turkey, half a tomato, and a literal half CUP of mayonnaise. I can't even salvage the bread. First time trying Nardelli's and I chose their plant based sub. It's wonderful they carry plant based options including dairy-free mayo and cheese that many other establishments don't offer! They added a decent amount of "meat" which is great compared to other sub shops. It's great to have options and will recommend. I'll definitely be back when I'm able. read more

They were having a bad day -- in fact a bad month. My Italian combo which I've been ordering for over 30 years from several other locations and this one was awful. Meat was mostly turkey. Very little cheese, no "the works topping, just mayo. Too much flavorless meat. very little veggies. MY potato salad (1/2 LB) was only half full. Decided to give the "famous" Nardelli's a try. Ordered the whole pastrami grinder and a side of potato salad. $17.51. I had never been there before so I didn't know what to expect. Staff was friendly but not overly helpful. They seemed ok with letting me"guess" my way through my options. The grinder was ok. Not something that I'm going to sneak out of the house for. Infact probably won't get it again. Potato salad was not bad. If you do stop in there check out the items in the case. I never realized that they can be made in to sandwiches. A much better buy. I'm picky but give it a try and make your own decision. It's not bad, not great, just there. But for a real pastrami treat try Lena's in Manchester. That's a pastrami sandwich. read more

I liked their grinders in the past. Something happened and I won't be returning 1. Masks are worn under noses when employees prepare food 2. Ordered an eggplant and received chicken. Gross 3. Decided to try again and ordered eggplant, umm this is not eggplant. I have no idea what something that resembled the texture of plastic was in the grinder. Worst sandwich EVER. Threw away. Nardelli's is the place to go if you are hungry but have absolutely no idea what you are hungry for. Let's be real, if you can't find something here that rings your bell or tickles your fancy, you are beyond hope. How about 18 cold grinders in 2 sizes on 4 kinds of bread or 3 kinds of wraps? How about 20 hot grinders with the same options? How about nine hot entrees or appetizers like lasagna or eggplant parm? How about side dishes galore like tortellini, antipasto, plus tuna/seafood/chicken salads. How about nine green salads, with or without meat or fish? How about over 20 desserts from Cannolis to Waffle Rolled Cheesecake? Get the picture? We had lunch on Sunday and both had a half grinder -I had the Prosciutto Hot Pepper Chicken served Panini style with marinara sauce. My wife had the chicken cutlet also with marinara sauce. My sandwich was very good- great flavor, served hot with lots of melted cheese goodness. The line was pretty big, but it moved fast. The service was efficient and very pleasant. The only thing I didn't like had to do with the petite size of the store, and the way the customer line made a U-Turn and snaked back through the dining room. The first visit here and I must say I was a little overwhelmed. I had no idea what I was walking into lol. The multitude of options felt endless which I LOVED! Hearing from friends about Nardelli's I knew I had to check them out but wasn't expecting to see the vast amount of other options. Pasta salads, wraps, specialty salads, soups, signature desserts. I mean who wouldn't want a cheesecake burrito right! The price comparison to other local deli's is higher but for the value of their large menu I wouldn't expect any less. The atmosphere inside was also extremely inviting the staff were more than helpful and polite answering all questions plus giving great recommendations. Worst grinder shop ever!!! Ordered online 2 grinders. One was pastrami and they put mayonnaise instead of mustard. Who puts mayo on pastrami!! Other grinder was a cheesesteak...and it had no cheese!! When you order online the instructions are in front of them and they still mess it up. This is supposed to be an Italian grinder shop but they lather mayonnaise on everything! Mayonnaise is a French condiment. And they put hot sauce on all their grinders too...also not Italian. They should be putting oil & vinegar on their grinders and everything else by request. Another time I was in the store, asked for oil & vinegar on their cold cut grinder, and the first thing thing their employee did was put mayo on it!! They should have never franchised! Bread not grilled, tiny amount of sauerkraut (probably the least expensive ingredient) and honestly less than half the meat as advertised. I usually only stick with the Cold Cut Grinders when I go here......Everything else seems to be made ahead of time and re-heated...ugh! We almost always get the Italian love that Pruzinti. This last visit it seems not ro be as stuffed with cold cuts as prior visits. It also looked as if they balled up the meat instead of layering it nicely. And the Capicola was cut why to thick and really tough to chew....And if your wondering I have all my teeth and never have had a cavity. I had to pull most of the Capicola off....Yuck. It's nice to have a Nardelli's this side of the river...they just need to learn to work that slicer better. The deli is situated in a small commerical complex near the highway. we were in the way to Boston and stopped by to have a bite. The food was simply out of the world. My friend ordered the grilled ribs sandwich and he really liked it. I ordered the sautéed mushrooms and assortment of vrgetables which also very fresh and tasty. The owner (A friendly Mexican fellow) came over to our table and ensured we were comfortable and enjoyed the experience. Overall we liked the food and the good ambience and would definitely recommend it. While it's only been open a few weeks but I've been to this Nardellis location a number of times now. Its located in the former Nathan's Hot Dog building in a shopping center on the East Hartford / Glastonbury line. At lunchtime it's pretty busy but they usually have plenty of people working so the line moves pretty quickly. Nardelli's is definitely a cut above the big sandwich chains around here. They have a good variety of hot and cold sandwiches as well as nice sides and desserts. They sell half and full-sized sandwiches but the half size is plenty big. You can also get many sandwiches on a wrap in you want. Depending upon my mood I usually go for the chicken parm or I build my own turkey sandwich. Both are pretty good. The prices are actually pretty reasonable. Not Subway-cheap but reasonable especially for what you get in terms of quantity and quality. They have a somewhat limited amount of eat-in seating but I don't think I've ever seen anyone not be able to find a table, even at lunchtime. It seems like the bulk of their business is take out. The only real complaint is that they don't write anything down so if you don't order a standard menu item and want to customize your sandwich the odds of getting exactly what you ordered is probably 50/50. Usually it's pretty close though. There are a lot of lunch options (sandwiches and otherwise) in the area but Nardelli's is definitely in the regular lunch rotation for me. read more

Though I'd pick up a grinder for lunch at the new place in town. Nardelli's has put all others to shame. Wow, what a selection of grinders, salads, etc. I had the half stuffed pastrami and it was great, plus had enough to share with my husband. Everything is supper fresh, the bread is soft and delicious, and the service is great. After checking out the catering menu, I ordered Christmas dinner. My guests were blown away the the quality and quantity of the food. Veggie lasagna, eggplant parmigiana, sausage/peppers, balsamic roaster chicken, fantastic salad all prepared perfectly.
