The place is small, and the staff were very much in work mode. Not very friendly but efficient. I ordered the Italian combo and the girlfriend got a custom made. The staff got the sandwiches made quickly and I was back in the car in no time. It's a good sub, but not a 14 dollar sub. There's a decent amount of meat and it was fresh. But the upcharge for the grinder roll and the portion was pricy for what I got. Would've liked to see some more veggies on the roll to bulk it out. Or some spreads to amp the flavor up. It's a good stop for a basic sandwich. But it's not as good as some other places I've been to in that area. It works for what it is read more

We walked in, craving some delicious New York City-style hero sandwiches. After placing our order, we sat down, and the music started blasting. We politely asked the staff member to lower the volume, and she did. Our sandwiches arrived, but as soon as two other customers left, Bad Bunny came on full blast again. The Whole Deli Five is a very popular lunch spot in the Glastonbury area. I visited after the lunch rush (after 2pm) and it was completely empty. The downside was they ran out of grinders, which was quite frustrating. The pricing didn't make much sense, it's $.75 cents extra to make the sandwich on a grinder instead of toast bread, which is of course much larger. The sandwich base price is about $6.50 - $8 depending on the type of sandwich you order (with no drinks or chips). The basic toast bread sandwich didn't feel worth it relative to other delis/sandwich spots where you can get at least a 10 inch sub/grinder for that price point. That was my main issue with the whole experience at Whole Deli Five. If it's not on a grinder, you're basically getting a worse deal than the majority of other places. Aside from that, the experience was quite positive. There is a private parking lot, decent seating, and fairly quick service. The ingredients all tasted fresh too. I might try them out one more time to give the grinder a try, but wouldn't return for their basic sandwich. The portion is just too small for the price point. read more

Around 10:30 on a Saturday, lots of individuals were streaming in for takeaway food. No one was sitting in the restaurant. All of us ordered egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches with various meat options: turkey, sausage, bacon. With the added meat, two sandwiches was just over $9 (including tip). The menu board mentions bagels, but apparently they don't have bagels. Hard roll is a classic way to go in that case. I am ashamed to say that for years before I discovered this place, I had been eating at the Half Deli. For the longest time, I felt like my dining experience was only 50% of what it could be. Then Wholey Moly, everything changed when I set foot in this fine establishment! This place has the vibes of a nice Whole in the wall restaurant, with some of the nicest people I've ever met in the 29 years I've been on this earth. Sure, anybody can make a sandwich with salami, provolone cheese, and hold the tomatoes. But these people make them with a Whole lot of love. Can't wait to go back there ASAP... I've been here four times for lunch. Great sandwiches all freshly made. It's one heck of a lot easier to get into and out of here than other sandwich places. Prices seem reasonable to me for the quality of food. They have a huge menu board with all sorts of selections which often have various sauces. Today my sandwich had apple and avocado. We had our first experience at Whole Deli tonight - we've been waiting for a good sandwich place to come to town - and we were not disappointed! Service: Fast, friendly Atmosphere: Clean, open, casual, with a coffee-house feel. Menu: Diverse with both the classics and some combinations you don't often see. They also offer salads and breakfast sandwiches & coffee in the mornings. They also have a wide selection of Deep River chips. Now if they'd just start serving soup! Sandwiches: Delicious! We had a "Rocky Hill" - turkey, lettuce, tomato, avocado and Russian Dressing on white bread - it was fresh, packed full of meat, just enough sauce and the bread was fluffy and not overpowering. We also had a Philly Cheese Steak - cheese, onion, roasted pepper, roasted garlic, mayo and steak - it was very well seasoned, the cook on both the steak and veggies were perfect and the bread was very soft and tender. It wasn't greasy either, which was great. Overall we enjoyed ourselves, and will likely return again often - especially to give breakfast a try! read more

I love their Italian sandwich- it is PACKED with Italian meats on a hard roll, and they actually out balsamic on it, which, in my humble opinion, is the only way! I had passed by this place a few times since its opening on my way to the nail salon. While in Glastonbury last week I decided to stop and boy am I glad I did. In the world of "sandwich shoppes" this one stands out for being super fresh and a great value. The extensive menu, seriously there are 30 some odd sandwich choices, and friendly staff make it definitely a place I'll visit again. Not knowing exactly what I wanted I went with the "Marilyn Monroe" because well, blondes do have more fun! The sandwich was sliced chicken breast, sliced mozzarella and pepperoni on a grinder roll. Let me tell you the meat was literally fresh sliced in front of you along with the other ingredients. The sandwich was full of flavor with the few ingredients and the meat to roll ratio was excellent. For $9 you can't beat a sandwich and a drink. Will definitely be coming back to this one! read more

This place is *so* good. My office is located nearby, so I make a point of stopping in here at least once every other week. Recently I have been getting their special of the day (sandwich + can of soda + sm. bag chips for ~$9) which is a great deal and a great way to try something new on the menu every time you visit. When not indulging in a daily special, my go-to menu items are... Buffalo Chicken Wrap - spicy chicken, buffalo sauce, ranch, cheddar....red onions...salivating...salivating...where was I? I mean it was okay. I give it two point five stars if I could but the employees made it a three. I got the roast beef sandwich and a Snapple, it came to about $10.50. There is a good amount of roast beef on the sandwich but the horseradish sauce was super watery and the bread was underwhelming, crumbly and dry.
