Nash OB/Gyn handled my (feminine) medical needs from 1995 to 2005. During that time, I saw several doctors. I have birth to my son! (Excellent Care!!) I had laparoscopic surgery for unknown terrible abdominal & pelvic pain, and they discovered my abdomen was covered with Adhesions & my organs were twisted together!! I had trouble with my birth control & had to switch a few times. They were understanding, caring, compassionate and helpful. The last time I was there, I had a very successful IUD removed (after 7 years). One year later, I was back HOME at the Coast & pregnant..... That's when I found a new doctor. Dr. Boyd - if he's still there- was the best. Absolutely the best, by a mile! Outstanding in his field!! I do not know about new doctors to their practice. Anyone who has been there less than 15 years -I did not see. read more

I've been a patient at Nash OB-Gyn for about 4 years and it's the best experience I've had with a doctor, especially for reproductive health. Even after relocating, I still make the 45 minute drive back for yearly appointments so I can keep Dr. Peyton as my doctor. She's incredibly smart, listens well, and practices good communication during exams. It's particularly important as a Black woman to have a doctor who listens, takes concerns seriously, and cares about patient well-being. I transferred from Colorado to North Carolina at 29 weeks and the doctors and staff have been friendly, professional, helpful, and welcoming. I would highly recommend them. read more

Unfortunately this private practice is only concerned with making money. I relocated to Rocky Mount from the Triangle where the care was much more personal and structured. Nash OB-GYN has policies that are completely void of empathy, understanding, or patience. I was a patient with private health insurance (United Healthcare) and from the first visit (around 12 weeks), it was all about "escrow" accounts and payments. After my first visit, I was sent a bill/letter. That letter was based on my deductible for labor & delivery. They set up a payment plan and yet at every visit, it was "when can you make a payment"? Again mind you- this was for labor & delivery. Not antenatal care. Though this bothered me, as money is tight, I was making payments. I was never NOT paying this clinic. At 29/30 weeks pregnant, I changed from private health insurance to Medicaid. I let the receptionist know my insurance would be changing, and she still scheduled my 31 week appointment. She said just bring my card when I get it. My Medicaid wouldn't be active until the end of the month due to an unforeseen circumstance. I arrive to my appointment at 31 weeks, inform them I have not yet received my Medicaid card. They tell me I need to speak with the insurance specialist. Teresa. Before they would see me for my appointment. I figured "okay they want to go over details, no big deal." I was so wrong. Teresa walks me to the back of the office and sits down. She says "so you don't have health insurance and you haven't gotten your Medicaid approved yet" to which I respond "yes but my case worker said it will be done by end of June at the latest." She says "well you have a large balance on your account." To which I respond "yes I'm making the payments on the escrow account and I have an ultrasound bill I am paying on, I just made two large payments at my last visit." She responds with "I need to call your caseworker. I give her my caseworker's name and phone number. She is unable to be reached. So Teresa says "I will have to ask the doctors if we can see you today without insurance"...again mind you- they have $300 sitting in an escrow account, and I am making payments regularly. I have been a patient my entire pregnancy and am just waiting on Medicaid card. I say "okay" and I wait. She comes back only to tell me "we can't see you without insurance, you will have to continue your care at the health department" to which I respond with "okay, even though as soon as my Medicaid kicks in, I'll be right back here?" She says "no it's a permanent transfer, we don't see patients after 20 weeks...but it's our doctors who service the health department"...wait what? So your doctors, MY DOCTORS, will still be seeing me- just in a different location, but I can't come back to this office anymore once I switch? How ridiculous is that? "Why didn't your staff inform me of this when I indicated at a previous visit that my insurance would be cancelled and I was switching to Medicaid?", Teresa's response was "well you still had insurance at the time, and we have to get you on the books"...okay, cool. You could have scheduled me, but you still should have informed me that if Medicaid was not active by my next appointment (which is every 2 weeks now!) that I would need to go to the health department. I am MISSING integral health care because you turned away a PAYING, LOYAL patient over 1 visit. My Medicaid will be retroactive for June through 60 days post-partum. And they KNOW this. They know how Medicaid works. And that money in escrow? It won't even be needed because my labor & delivery will be 100% covered. But god forbid you see a patient without coverage. God forbid you have hearts and WORK with your PAYING PATIENTS. Two more weeks. My coverage would be active. But they turned me away. So I am missing my 31/32 week appointment and now am waiting to get in at the health department...only to be seen by the same doctors because Nash OB-GYN services the Rocky Mount health department location. It is appalling to me the lack of care this office provides. read more
