We recently stayed in the area and wanted to rent a pontoon to spend a day on the lake with friends. We chose to rent through Nashville Shores Marina. The staff was friendly enough and the price was fine. The whole thing got off to a questionable start as we were trying to make the reservation. We first were on their website - you can't reserve anything on the website, you have to call the marina. We called and called and called...it would immediately go to voicemail and then indicate the voicemail box was full so we were unable to leave a message. We finally drove over to the marina as we were staying nearby. As we were in the marina office/store discussing the rental, the phone was ringing. The guy who appeared to be in charge kept hitting the decline call button even though he was just sitting at the counter not appearing to do anything. One of the "gotchas" with boat rentals is "prop insurance" - it's $50 extra, but if you return the prop with damage it supposedly costs $400 to fix it...we have been screwed over more times than I can count by boat rental companies alleging prop damage so we purchased the so called insurance (shake down). So, we made the rental for early in the week...the guy in charge indicated we were getting the "best boat" in their rental fleet. I honestly was a little taken aback by the boat when we arrived...it was beat all to hell, the carpet was moldy. There was mildew on the seat cushions. None of the instrument panel worked. The rental images on the webpage we're not even close to the clunker we rented. Our group was just looking for a way to get out on the lake to a quiet cove so we could get in the water and float around. This boat did the job, but it was probably the worst rental boat I have ever rented. There are some other rental options on the lake; I would look into those were I to be back in the area and wanting to rent a boat. read more

I actually like this marina better than Elm Hill now. They have a new little BBQ joint which I hear is awesome and they have ample parking. It's also located close to a couple small swimming islands. It's a good place to launch. The only downside was that I had to explain to my little one several times that we were not going to Nashville Shores the water park!! read more

Shaun, Ty and the staff are always just a call away. I've had a slip with these guys for many years now, because of the people. Now that its under new owners I hope Shaun and Ty's knowledge and vision of what this marina can become is able to move forward. The kids really like Nashville Shores (we have season tickets) and the amount of activities they have for kids is good BUT let me tell what they need help with...the amount of trash around the food court areas especially the one by the wave pool is totally unacceptable! The cleanliness of those areas and around the counter where you pick up your food makes you not want to eat and drink there but what else can you do when it is hot outside and they will not allow outside food or drinks. They say you can bring a lunch and picnic and we do but you can't go outside every time you need a water or a Gatorade. The bathrooms as just as bad and like any water park area they are slippery and the smell is terrible! I really hate to leave a review for a place I want to love but really need to address the cleanliness of the food and bathroom areas! read more

Rented a pontoon for Memorial Day and were really excited about it. They seemed decent at first giving us the ground rules for how to use the boat. Then they told us there was only enough fuel in the tank to stay close to the cove without an option to get more. Worrying about running out of gas is not something we were expecting. The condition of the boat wasn't great. We weren't expecting a new boat but with how bad most of the interaction was, you'd expect that they'd be confident their boats wouldn't be complained about. Easily the worst rental experience I have ever had. We woke up the morning of our scheduled rental to a rainy day in Nashville. I promptly picked up the phone and called to see if we could get a refund for our full day's rental. Much to my surprise, the man I spoke with told me that they do not give refunds for weather, and that we'd be charged the full amount either way. Not wanting to waste almost $400 I had already been charged, we decided to wait for a break in the rain and weather the storm. It wound up being a fairly nice afternoon, and we had a blast on Percy Priest Lake. Unfortunately while we were soaking up the few rays we had seen all day, we didn't realize we were an hour overdue bringing the boat back. The employee that put us out on the boat had mentioned there was a $1 per minute charge for every minute after 5pm, so we weren't overly concerned at this point. When we pulled back up to the dock we were met with extreme hostility by the manager and his 2 employees. I would have expected the same reaction if we showed up in flames, floating on half of a pontoon boat. They immediately threatened to call the police on us for "stealing their boat" and then told us we owed an extra $500 in late fees. They refused to accept our sincere apologies for returning late, nor did they realize we had already been charged almost $400 for less than 4 hours on the lake. After spending more than 30 minutes arguing with these people (and essentially ruining the last day of our vacation) we left and told them we'd never be back again. The manager told us he was happy to hear we'd never be back again, so I am happy to oblige... Moral of the story...take your business to Elm Hill Marina, like I was told to do. Unfortunately we didn't make the reservation soon enough so Elm Hill was already booked up. Hopefully I can save other people from making the same mistake. read more

Lauren and the rest of the millennial staff know nothing about boating, empathy or customer service. We came out for Nashville Shores Fireworks and couldn't get gas at Elm Hill or 4 Corners. We called to express our distress and to see if someone would wait 5min if we were late due to the no wake zone. Lauren said they would close at 8pm and we knew we would be cutting it close. She could care less that we might run out of gas and get stranded. She also had no clue as to who else was in charge that we could call for help. We inquired about the Harbor Master and her response was, "I'm only 20, I don't know anything about boating." Then why is she working at a Marina. We docked at Pump 4 at 7:53pm only to be told that the staff had closed up early, I'm sure after talking to us on the phone at 7:20. We began calling the office at 7:48 once we knew we would make it in time so someone could meet us at the pump. Now we know why those calls were unanswered. Hours for the Marina aren't even given on their outgoing message. We did get some assistance from nice people docked at the Marina. We slept on the boat and ran on fumes to Elm Hill to gas up first thing in the morning. Elm Hill staff was excellent, took care of us before they actually opened. They also provided us with coffee and the manager's info of Nashville Shores Marina since Lauren was unaware of who she reports to. Elm Hill also lists on their building, website, and phone message the name and telephone number of who to call in case of emergencies. We won't make the mistake again to go to Nashville Shores Marina. I would give a zero if I could. read more

I loved renting a boat here! The staff was very nice and showed me exactly how to operate the boat, since I was a novice. We had a great day, and even though I was a little nervous bringing the boat back in, they guided me in and even got on the boat to park it correctly. I hate seeing negative reviews when it clearly states what the rental policies are. You don't rent a car and expect not to be charged when it is brought back late or canceling day of! The lake was beautiful and the staff was professional. Definitely coming back! read more

Rented a boat there and had a horrible experience. We were told on the phone about their boat rentals and decided it would be a good place to rent a pontoon boat. We were wrong. The man who rented us the boat treated us like we were criminals. The boat itself was horrid. It was run down, half the accessories didn't work, and the engine failed and took considerable time for us to repair. There were some insane restrictions placed on us which were not communicated before handing them our money. We were not allowed to tie the boat to any sort of island or public swimming area, we had to stay in a very small radius, and we were not allowed to put more than 10 people on the boat (despite it having a coast guard rating of 12 persons). We tried to get our money back after realizing what a terrible deal it was and we were cussed at, personally insulted, and they refused to give us our money back. I absolutely hate this place. Go anywhere else to rent a boat. read more
