I felt like a million bucks and very confident when I walked out of there and it's nice not walking into a barbershop where all the guys think they're gangsters they're all wannabes and ask you what number you want What what number? That right there just shows inexperience on the part of the owners. If I wanted a haircut with a trimmer, I'd have my blind grandfather do it ! Trendsetters very professional and you can tell and see the talent that there. Also, I called late on Saturday afternoon and they fit me in in the owner stayed late and waited for me. Finally decided it's time to give it up. A barber shop does not get any better than Desmond (the guy I ask for) or Scott. You get small town gossip and careful, leisurely attention to your hair including warm shave cream and a razor trim at the end. The ladies pay $50 for this kind of treatment (and probably less salty commentary from the town elders and wise guys who wander in and out). We get it for $15 plus your generous tip. Don't expect to walk in and plop down without an appointment, however. The online reservation system is easy. Then just be sure you keep that appointment. Those are straight edge razors, know what I mean?

Third time- no wait, super quick haircut, terrible haircut with co-owner. Didn't do what I asked, no attention to detail, did the neckline an inch above where it should be, no taper, no blending. Top is super choppy and hacked. You can see every scissor cut. We go here sometimes when we're in a rush, now we know the quality of the haircut depends on the stylist. I regularly see Brittany at the Strand for my haircuts and the occasional highlight. I've always…read morebeen happy with the cuts, especially during my long, drawn-out process of growing out my bangs. (Also provided: moral support while growing out the bangs, which I very much needed.) I have medium-dark blonde hair and Brittany has a light touch with highlights which brightens up the overall look of my hair color without giving me dark roots to worry about and maintain. I don't have the time or money to mess around with roots; subtle highlights are the goal for my hair and I'm consistently pleased with the results. The salon is in downtown Saratoga so you are paying Saratoga prices (sigh, I'm still a midwestern girl at heart, and the cost of living up here really hurts that heart). But, for Saratoga, this is the first place where I've reliably received haircuts and color that I like, can get an appointment in a reasonable amount of time, and the actual cut and color don't take foreverrrrrr. My previous salon once took a full 3.75 hours for a simple (and not that great) cut and highlight, which is *absurd*, and why I jumped ship. Please note that the Strand does *not* accept credit cards. Cash or check only! Parking can be found on the street if you're lucky, in the public library parking lot, or in the garages on Putnam St and Railroad Place. I think all of the parking in the area is 2 hour time limit between 8am-6pm.

Recently, I went to True Cuts and was very upset with my haircut. I had asked the barber for what I…read morehad gotten last time, and then he said yes. I had let him know that I wanted NOTHING cut off the top of my hair because im trying to let it all grow out. The barber understood and then started doing my hair. After my haircut was over he had to let me know that he cut the back of my hair because it would look like a mushroom. I was a bit upset with this because this entire haircut was an undercut and none of my actually hair was going to be cut, just the fade. Once I got home, I took a shower and realized that he had actually cut off a lot of the sides of the hair. I'm highly disappointed because almost every other time I've gone there its been amazing, but when you don't just listen to what you're supposed to and do your job is upsetting. I do really like going here, but in the future i want to keep my hair nice and long and not have it cut. Thank you!
