Probably the best barbershop in the area. I've been in a few times and would for sure recommend. Selling ahead to secure an appointment as they're usually very busy. I'm always incredibly pleased with the results. Everyone is very detailed oriented. I just went in today after doing my own color and they were nice enough to help get the staining off of my scalp. You can't beat the price. They always go above and beyond. It's very clear why they are always busy as they are the best! read more

Walked in with a butchered haircut looking to get it fixed up, Russ got me right in the chair and went to work like a surgeon! Fixed the skin fade real tight, trimmed the top to even it out, cut in my beard lines, and bordered me up all the way around with the straight razor in about 15 minutes! When I got out of the chair he apologized for having to charge me for a full haircut- brother you just gave me more than a full haircut! And when he told me it was only $20, I was in shock, I was expecting it to be much more and I would have been happy to pay it. Great haircut, great atmosphere, great people! For the win- when I got in the chair it literally looked like my hair had been cut with a potato peeler and he never once disparaged the other 'barber'. read more

My nephew Kingston loves it. Cool looking guys, great atmosphere. Just a bit more than the a Brooklyn barber. You have to make a reservation though, I went twice and both times they were so booked I couldn't get an appointment for a week. read more

I've been in here 4 or 5 times now for haircuts from Chris, and it's been a great experience every time. He takes his time and cuts it the way you ask. He is able to carry on a conversation while he cuts, but if you're not into that he doesn't press it either. I have not had a cut from Russ, but both him and Chris are very kind every time I go in. The shop atmosphere is great as well. Plenty of open space and a lot of light thanks to the big windows in the front of the shop. The music selection is great and at a volume that isn't overwhelming. Getting my hair cut at Rad Razors is something I look forward to each time, and I feel much more relaxed each time I leave. They do only accept cash, but if you forget to stop at the ATM, the drug store across the street allows you to do cash back on purchases. read more

One of the best haircuts I've gotten and at a good price for the quality of service. If it's the same since I was last there, they only take cash, so be sure to have some. They also don't take appointments, which ended up taking a little longer my last visit, but it was absolutely worth it. I wish I was closer to make this my regular barber shop. read more

Its pulse doesn't shake the shopping centers or the offices or the multitudes they carry. It honors no arrhythmia before the Capitol or the architecture that has grown around it. Because it's often the case that the biggest machine lives and dies not by its most imposing part, but by the smallest pin in its center. It's easy to miss Patsy's Barber Shop if you're weaving through the traffic of State and Pearl. You have to know to take the right onto Howard Street and go slowly enough not to miss the white neon tubing that brightens the shop and casts just enough of its glow onto the sidewalk to let you see the barbers ply their trade. Patsy's opened in 1930 at the cusp of the Great Depression, when a proper haircut was a man's resume and the newspaper on the empty seat was the employment office. It was a family business, like many that had dotted the downtown and further south to the neighborhoods that would eventually be sacrificed to Nelson Rockefeller's sense of grandeur. William "Tragedy" Yager now presides over the memories absorbed into the mirrors and the padded chairs. Since 2006, he's followed in the footsteps of his great grandfather, a man who likely opened up shop as he always did on the day Japanese planes set off for infamy. And anyone who's had a seat in one of his chairs and a hot towel on their face knows that Tragedy didn't just inherit a trade; he inherited a love and a duty to everyone that crosses the threshold. A large man with a long, thick beard and a tapestry of tattoos lining both temples, he wouldn't strike you as a man you would want to meet in a dark alley. But again, the seat, the hot towel, two minutes in conversation, and you'll realize that he's exactly the man you would want to meet in a dark alley if your car broke down, if you were cold, hungry and scared, if everybody passed you by. Because there are certain things you can expect from those possessed of the instinct of leadership. But what you may not expect is that sometimes, the places where matters are truly decided accept walk-ins. Patsy's Barber Shop has two locations, 3 Howard Street in downtown Albany and Room 126 on the Concourse Level. Call for an appointment and check for hours.
