About 2 months ago, we dropped off a car rental at this location (we picked up at the Billy Bishop Airport location in Toronto because the Wellington Street location had no cars left. This was during the rail line blockades by protesters opposing the Coastal GasLink pipeline, so anyone who was traveling by train (like us) was stranded. Car rental companies were busy, many locations had their entire fleet rented out, so we were thankful Billy Bishop had some cars left, but I am digressing from the review...). We had minimal interaction with the staff at this Ottawa airport location (which was the only location open late on a Sunday, so we had to return it there despite living nowhere near the airport and having to take a taxi home from there, oh wait I'm digressing again, lol), but overall we were very happy with our experience at National as a whole. As soon as we drove into the assigned parking spot for National, a representative approached us and greeted us. He scanned the barcode on the car, looked around for damage, checked the odometer, gas meter, etc. Told us everything was good, and emailed us confirmation of the return. Easy peasy. Signage for the car rental drop off was clear, and signage for where to drop off the vehicles for each car rental company was also clear. Although I would have rather taken the train like I had originally planned, I had a good experience with National both in Toronto and Ottawa. I would rent from them again, but hopefully next time it will be because National was my first choice, and not because I had to scramble at the last minute to find a way home because my original plans were derailed, so to speak. read more

Very good service from this location. Ottawa is a small airport, so rental cars on site which is a big plus, no shuttle buses. Due to a mistake in my reservation, I did not have a car but they were very gracious and hooked me up quickly. On the return, the lady was extremely nice- she was hustling and actually running to get people checked in quickly. When she asked me how the rental was, I told her it was great but wished the car was bigger, and she offered me a free upgrade for my next rental- probably won't ever use it, but nice nonetheless! My only warning for this location, which has nothing to do with National- no gas anywhere near airport, plan ahead! read more

They had my rental ready, had wonderful advice on the Ottawa area and got me out the door quickly. Both are amazing ambassadors for National. The person at the counter was great. The Yukon was great. I just wish I had thought to ask about the local forecast. I heard from the news, and again from the desk lady at the hotel, that vehicles must be free of snow or risk getting a citation. Of course the Yukon was spotless. Not an ice scraper to be found. I ended up using a magazine to sweep a foot of snow off the roof and hood. Did I mention Yukons are one size smaller than school buses? It was awesome climbing up on the front wheels so I could reach the pile of snow in the middle of the hood and then scrape the windshield with a shopper's club card. The open doors provided good support to lean on while sweeping off the roof, and, the sturdy running boards and rear wheels helped me reach across the rear of the vehicle. I appreciated the 4wheel drive getting through town on that snowy morning. It snowed while I was at work too, so I was able to repeat the snow removal process with a now wet & wilted magazine. Somehow, I believe an ice scraper & brush would have made my day a little easier. National is a fine company. Good cars & great people. But, if you're flying to Canada I'd recommend putting a brush, scraper and shovel in your carry-on. read more

National is the only rental car organization we use. We rent cars all over North America and there is consistently good service, clean and well maintained cars, and easy locations to get to. The fast pick up and drop off have been a life saver on many trips. It's really is as good as it gets! read more

Kudos to Sabrina at National - Ottawa Airport...she was amazing! We had a family emergency and needed to find a vehicle that would accommodate all 6 of our family members. Not only did she go that extra mile to help us out, what impressed me most was how she was able to manage a very busy customer service desk while keeping her friendly can-do attitude. There was even one customer who was rude and disgusting, and Sabrina was unfettered. National should use her as a role model for other customer service reps--something rare and special in the 25 years I have been renting vehicles. read more

We have always had excellent service with national! The attendance are always friendly. Our last trip to Ottawa my husband booked online months in advance for a caravan with an infant car seat and a toddler car seat. We were early getting the vehicle and had to wait which is completely understandable. The clerk only gave us a toddler car seat and I had to ask for the infant car seat. They had to search for a car seat for my 7 week old. The seat they brought out was the 3 stage kind, infant to toddler to child. The problem with this was that they didn't give you any of the padding that comes with the seat. When I asked about it they said that this was the infant seat that they had. To say I was disappointed and very concerned is putting it mildly. I luckily had lots of blankets packed and packed my son into the seat as best that I could so that he was supported on all sides and that his neck was supported and cushioned. When we returned the vehicle I mentioned this to the attendant that greeted us at our vehicle. He commented that he had an infant son and the car seat that he bought was the same and he had to buy things to insert into the seat. This is not acceptable. We do not have the luxury of knowing in advance that I needed the padding for my son. I expected a proper infant car seat when I booked. If you do not have proper INFANT car seats that support the infant as to the Canada Motor Vehicle Standards then they should not be listed as available. As I said at the beginning the staff have always been friendly and hospitable and we are Emerald Club members. This is the first complaint that I have had about National and I am sure that it will be the last. read more

I had to drop off my car at 5 am before their office opened; I received a very nice, personal phone call to tell me that they had the car; everything was fine; and they wished me a nice day.
