They were 8 and 6, and really needed help. With her knowledge and patience, Lynne Merrill began to work with them, and within the year they were both reading, above grade level! The programs that Lynne uses WORK, and along with her kind approach, the children had great success. Nicole Dudley also worked with them years ago, and has been tutoring both of them in math this year, making such a difference in their confidence and skills. She is also so kind and inspiring, and just a fantastic teacher! When I was a child, I wished for a tutor, especially for math, but we couldn't afford . Today I am so happy to give the gift of Lynne and Nicole to my grandchildren, and watch them flourish! I highly recommend Merrill Education Center, and I am beyond grateful for the help they continue to give to all of their students! Laura

She has made a huge difference in my son's life. My son is 14 years old and was not happy about going to see Lynn Merrill 4 days/week over the summer. After the first session, he didn't complain about going again. He enjoyed the books she introduced and was looking forward to find out what happened next. Nicole Dudley, the math tutor handles all of the scheduling and payment. She is extremely efficient, timely, and very nice. When we need a math tutor, we will call her.

It would be unfair for me to rate the…read moreentire school 1 star when this is just about the salon from the client perspective, so I'll just fill it in as 3. I would certainly rate the salon 1 star if I could. I'm autistic. I went in to their salon services get a short, basic haircut. The entire time I was bullied by my barber during the haircut. There were many things he did to me and said to intentionally try to make a joke out of me. Other students eventually started gathering around and ridiculing me and snickering. There was absolutely no supervision. I know I'm an easy target because I'm autistic, but that does not excuse this whatsoever. It is not okay to make fun of disabled people and it's not okay that this behavior wasn't prevented by the teachers. The haircut itself was awful and took a while to grow out long enough to touch up. Very choppily cut and poorly done. But I don't mind because it's a school and they need experience. My mom was coming over from the front to give him a tip, not knowing what had happened, but even she saw that people were just surrounding me and laughing at me, so she turned right back around. My mom had called the place after. The instructor was kind and offered a free, supervised touch up. This is good to note. I didn't accept it because I already go through enough of these experiences in my life because some people like to use an autistic person (or just weaker targets in general such as the elderly, the homeless, etc.) as an excuse to be cruel, I don't need to risk going back to a place that treated me like that. But she listened and seemed to care, so that's what matters. I had a meltdown as soon as we got back in the car to go home and it lasted for hours. I shouldn't have to be judged and bullied for being quiet and having difficulty socializing. Those were things outside of my control because I'm disabled. They appeared to be around my same age of 18, so immaturity is certainly inevitable in a classroom, but this was just cruel in my opinion. You have to sit down for several minutes just defenselessly being subjected to ridicule for things outside of your control. There absolutely should've been supervision. I'm not going to place blame on the instructors and supervisors because they weren't the ones who bullied me, but this sort of thing shouldn't even be able to happen. Things may have changed in the year since I've been and I sure hope they have. Supervision may have tightened. Obviously, a single instance does not define the entirety of the salon. If you're autistic or disabled in any other way, you're already taking risks wherever you go. It's your choice to make and things could be good now. I just wanted to document my experience so it doesn't get brushed under the rug. If you read my review and experience, thank you. I wasn't able to advocate for myself in the moment because I was overwhelmed. It was hard to speak. But at least I have the ability to retroactively articulate. Not all autistic people do. And those are the stories that you don't hear about because not all of us can speak for ourselves, so that is why I'm sharing this experience because I am able to in place where others may have not been able to.

For those of you looking for a place that will help your kids out with school, this is one of the best and most unique places out there. Unlike Kumon and Sylvan, Homework Bound focuses on the homework the children bring home rather than bombarding them with additional work and exercises. The teachers help the students understand their homework first and reach the root of the problem that way. Thus, those who need some extra focus can get that and those who need additional guidance can receive that as well. The program focuses on organization and time-keeping skills that will help the children with their homework and can also be applied elsewhere even after they leave the center. The teachers are great, caring, funny, and also focusead. They are chosen very carefully and put a lot of heart into what they are doing. Mr. Vesagas, the director, is also a very caring man who devotes so much of his time to his program and the children. He is extremely passionate about helping each child individually and always makes sure that they stay on track in terms of finishing their work. I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for some extra tutoring for your child. While this isn't a "day-care," it is a great alternative to it. Bring your child home in the evening with their homework finished and enjoy some very much needed family time. :)

She holds your hand through the process and has an uncanny ability to hold space for your worries, while gently assuring you of the right strategy/steps forward on how to proceed with your child's school. Her rates are beyond reasonable for the degree of professionalism, insight, and experience she has regarding how best to navigate schools. Not only is she a seasoned and passionate educator-she is a parent of 3 beautiful children who each have an IEP. So, she understands the special needs parenting journey from the inside out. Immediately after our consultation, she wrote me an organized, clear email of our next steps with helpful tips on how to communicate with the school for an important meeting the next day. I spoke to many advocates and Angie strikes the right chord of seeking collaboration and knowing which battles to fight, when, and how to bring people to the table in what is sometimes a contentious dynamic in an IEP team. The IEP can feel so intimidating and overwhelming. You want what's best for your child, and you may feel at a loss on where to start. Or, like us-you may have reached a crossroads and need some expertise to help guide you through the landmines of the IEP process or to your input at the IEP table with someone more agile with this type of complex, loaded communication. I can't thank Angie enough for being so flexible, accommodating, and responsive. She's organized, strategic, insightful, and experienced. Call her!
