I purchased a shipping container to store everything from my 3 bedroom home.. my adventure into full time RV life was beginning. A Google search gave me National Transport as a highly rated company that could transport a very large 40' high cube shipping container from Ft Lauderdale FL to Buffalo NY. I had Luke Foster as my rep from National Transport. He kept in touch throughout the process and made it seamless. On the morning that the truck was scheduled to arrive (8 am) I got a call from Luke .. a massive snowstorm hit Buffalo and the driver that was scheduled for my trip was unable to drive the shipping container up due to the inclement weather. I had a crane at 8 am that was on scene to load the container onto the truck and they charged me $500 without loading the container (no truck). Luke arranged for me to get refunded by his company for this charge. The problem? I had sold the house and the new owner was moving in the next morning but this shipping container took up the entire street and entrance to the house . Needless to say I was panicked. Luke told me to standby for an hour while he scoured his database for a trucker that could go into snow. Within an hour he had found one AND Luke went ahead, made the calls and convinced the crane company to come back. The container was picked up and placed onto the truck by noon ! In time to drop my twin brother off at the airport for his flight back to Buffalo to meet the truck upon arrival. I don't post reviews. Ever. But this time I thought it prudent. Many companies claim to be great and many reviews give five stars when the service is performed with no glitches. But I judge it by how the person handled plan B. When shit went sideways did they ignore my calls or try to brush it under the rug.... Well, Luke handled this snafu so expertly that I had to come on and write a stellar review. The customer service was phenomenal. Everything got handled in the most efficient manner despite the snowstorm, lack of driver etc. And it was done in such a quick manner that I was astounded. We needed a 24 foot trailer moved from Virginia to North Carolina. I checked with a few transporters and National had the least worst reviews here on Yelp and decent reviews on BBB. They gave me a price, asked for some confirmation details and after sending a contract, confirmed the total cost. They eventually got the job done, with no damage and at the quoted price. Communication could be better as I had to follow up a number of times to confirm the pickup, ask when the delivery would be and then ask more. National Transport is a broker and the driver they selected had a breakdown on the way causing two days of delays. They did get the trailer delivered and while he wasn't able to get it into my backyard where I wanted it, it is at least secure at the side of the house. I had money for a tip for the driver if they could have gotten it into the yard, but that money stayed in my pocket. I did manage to get it into the yard myself a couple of days later. Update 3 They sent a hot shot to move a loaded 40ft. And a rotator to load it with no communication of what was being sent rather than the LANDOLL that was ordered. Run run run Day 2 of trying to move this container. They already canceled another load. My fault. The credit card didn't go through. Maybe a blessing in disguise. Now they're looking for excuses to cancel the container already paid for. My heart says let the $6500 go but who can afford that??? I'll update y'all on it soon. Prayers and pepto needed to deal with this company. I requested a landoll to transport my 40-foot container, and I was told I could pay by credit card. Then the bait and switch began. No, I couldn't pay credit card. Ach or wire transfer. Should have been a red flag. Second, they couldn't get a landoll, but assured me the cranes could do the job. Apparently NOT. The container wasn't in position for the wreckers they sent. It was in position for a landoll. So I the customer called in a favor from a goat operator and he can the same day but not before the drivers, who started late to begin with, left. This wasn't our first time transporting big equipment. We had already transported a WWII tank with a military trailer and a half-track with a military trailer. Do not use this company. I was promised a pick up date of Oct 1, they picked up a day late and lied and said the dealership where my new car was at, told him to come back the next day. The dealership sent me screenshots of their conversation that showed he was running behind and could her pick it up on Oct 5th! 5 days after the promised date! I originally was given a delivery date of either Oct 6 or 7 and am now being told I will not get my vehicle until Oct 10th because their truck broke down. But I I had to constantly call and text to get any information. They do not communicate with you. I had to call over and over again. Their website states you can track your vehicle online. Not true. You can only call the driver. The driver doesn't answer the phone, I know he reads the texts, because he has it set to read receipt. But doesn't respond. They don't care about the customer. Just getting your money. They are argumentative and when asked how they are going to make it right. When I suggested I get a partial refund back at least, they said absolutely not. N & Y accepted contract from ShipWit. Their driver was to phone me at least 2 hrs prior to arriving at car dealership. They did not. The dealership alerted me to fact car had been picked up. I was to receive updates along the way, I did not. Lastly I did receive my initial call day of delivery. Car report when picked up indicating a few small paint chips, nothing more. I paid for an enclosed transport of a classic motorcycle. It showed up on a open flat bed trailer. They had parked on the very front of the trailer. Sand and rocks had blasted one side of the bike. I was notified of the accident 3 days after it happened through e-mail and was not provided any more information. I then looked to National Transport for help getting information about the truck and what happened, I had to make many phone calls and emails in order to get information to figure out what happened and had to keep National transport in the loop. After I finally got in touch with the right insurance National Transport then sent me an email saying "Unfortunately because we are the broker and not the carrier we are limited to our involvement" and could not help me any further I hope you take this into account when you are shipping your vehicle because despite how much the website tries to make it seem like they are fully insured through them YOU ARE NOT and you will be under "cargo insurance" which will only allow them to fix your vehicle and avoid paying you for a rental car, depreciation of your newly hit vehicle. read more

Did they pick up and deliver my car, yes they did but dealing with them was a nightmare. First, while they tried to be helpful and have every operator offer to help you out it's better when you deal with just one operator throughout the entire process rather than having to explain and re-explain what you need to different people, this was not helpful. Second, I'm the owner of the vehicle but my company paid for the transportation. So why would they call my company and inform them of the pick up date? I never got a call about the pick up date, I had to follow up with the transport company and they said they called me, I told them that I didn't understand why they called the company when I'm the owner of the vehicle??? Next, they wouldn't give me a time frame as to when the car would be picked up, a 4 hour block would be nice but they didn't. They just said, on this date have your car ready, this is their line of business they should know at what approximate time the car will be picked up. My car was picked up a week before its scheduled delivery but then it arrived before I had even left! I had told the operators many times on the exact date that I would arrive. The driver contacted me letting me know that it would really help him out if I was there to accept the car, I don't blame the driver, I blame the transport company. In addition, they that due to legal issues that I couldn't add more than 100lbs in the trunk, surprisingly these legal issues would vanish if I paid an additional $200. I recently purchased a car out of state and did not want to spend my only day off in 12 by flying and driving 6+ hours. The dealer suggested this company and the quote was exact. I didn't want the car delivered on Friday the 13th and they arranged transport within 2 hours. The driver picked up the vehicle, called me and text"d message with updates as he was delayed. Upon arrival the driver was professional and unloaded the vehicle expertly. He pointed out things observed at pickup that I wouldn't have. (The car is a high end European import that is gently used) I would recommend this company to anyone and especially the driver. read more

I had such a bad experience I just had to make this account to warn others. I had a car shipped from the east coast to the port in California then on to Hawaii. The subcontractor who picked up my vehicle showed up, shook my hand, then ran to the side of my apartment to urinate by the wall. Promised it would be at the port on a Monday. Told me not to date the form I was signing. Did not know the address of the port where he was dropping off my car. I call the National Transport, use the extension to get the rep I spoke with. Voicemail. I call the driver's company to help him get to the port. "I don't know, I'm just a dispatcher. I don't even know who to call." Really. It took so long to get someone on the phone from National Transport that the driver loaded my vehicle up on his rig and took off. I get a call from him on a *Tuesday* at the port, frantic, as he didn't have a shipping number. Why didn't National Transport give him one? Why is he calling me for one? The only number I have is an order number. I call National Transport for the number. It takes them a 15 minutes to obtain the number from Matson, the shipping company, and email it to me. National Transport never bothered to call the driver to let him know. So I end up making all the calls and doing their job making sure things get communicated. When it came time to register the vehicle in Hawaii I also had to contact them to get the bill of lading, something they were supposed to send me weeks ago but never did. After asking for a bill of lading, I get sent a shipping receipt, which specifically says at the top "not a bill of lading". Mistakes happen. But there was never a single apology for the work I had to do on behalf of National Transport or how the ball was dropped on their end. *Why am I doing their job?!* I was also given an extension number to reach the rep I spoke with initally if I ever had any problems. Two week later (5 weeks after pick up) the car was delivered by a different driver on a different truck. We asked him what the issue was and why it took so long and he said "I don't know I picked the care up 7 days ago." During inspection of the vehicle there was markings on the window that showed the car at some point had been towed. So it would seem while the car was stuck wherever someone was actually DRIVING the car around without permission. We're lucky we ended up with the car at all. read more

Used this company to ship our daughter's car home from college (California to Texas). The actual transport was perfectly satisfactory and the car arrived in perfect condition. However, communicating with this company was a hassle. We booked the shipment so that the car would be picked up within 5 days, the 5th day being the day that she was leaving town. When we finally heard from someone regarding scheduling of the pick up, they gave us a two day window, both days being AFTER she was leaving town. Perhaps we failed to read the fine print, but be aware that the 5 day period refers to 5 business days. We tried repeatedly to reach the company via phone and e-mail to discuss the issue and hopefully make other arrangements, but there was never a response. Right before my daughter left town, she finally received a call that the car would be picked up on Monday (the next day). Out of time, she finally had to impose on a kindly professor who allowed her to leave the car in his driveway for what we thought would be a short period of time--just until the next day. We notified the company of the change of address for the pick up (at this point, we had a number and e-mail of someone in New York, a phone number in Florida and a phone number of a driver). The friendly professor waited at home all day on Monday, and the car was not picked up. The response from the company? Although the car was not picked up on Monday as promised, they were still within their 5-day window. My daughter was embarrassed to further inconvenience her professor, who was not able to be at home the following day. We had to ask him to just leave the car key under his doormat, which, although it turned out fine, made us uncomfortable. Even after notifying them (I had a phone number and e-mail for someone in NY, my daughter had a phone number from someone in Florida and a phone number of a driver in CA) about the new pick up location (within about 3 miles of the initial location) and receiving a written acknowledgement stating that the driver would be notified ASAP, the driver called (from yet another phone number!) saying that he was driving around the college campus, unable to locate the car. After giving him the updated address, the car was picked up, transported and delivered without incident within about a week. Bottom line is to be aware that you are not booking directly with the actual carrier and that you may encounter communication difficulties if you have any changes or if you have hard dates and times for pick up or delivery. read more

It took them five days to pick up the car, even though I had already cancelled the order from them, and they refused to admit that any of the confusion was their fault! I wished I trusted the negative reviews, but I was in a rush so I went ahead with the order because of the 5 star review by Frances. Went back and forth over the phone a bunch of times. Turns out they don't actually own the trucks or have their own drivers, so I actually ended up getting the number for the company that handled my case and spoke to that person over the phone about a pick time and date. I had to leave the country the next day and I had to get some friends to drive the car to a parking lot and another friend to be there when the driver arrived. I went off on my trip thinking everything was taken care of. I checked my phone to ensure that I had no missed calls. Everything looked fine. I got a call later that day from my friend saying that the driver never showed up. I called National Transport who also did not know that the pick up did not occur. I guess the contractor just decided to not tell anybody. To me, that's horrible service. So, I ended up canceling my order because I was already living in my new place in another state and I did not want to deal with them again. The person put the refund request in, but a week and half later I still did not see it on my credit card. So I called her again and this time she actually did what I asked the first time and I got a refund confirmation in the email. However, the amount was $100 short of the full amount. I was fuming and I wrote an email back. Their response was that since a carrier was called that they were entitled to $100 of my money!? WHAT!? Are you serious!? This is not a transport company, but rather a tiny call center. The own ZERO trucks and sub everything out to the lowest bidder. The put all jobs on a national website and then they are grabbed the by drivers regardless of their qualifications or experience. The website is called "Central Dispatch" and there are hundreds upon hundreds of transport jobs posted there and ready for the taking. Absolute disappointment. One star is truly too generous. I created a YELP account souley for the purpose of warning you against doing business with THIS SPECIFIC "company". I'll keep it short: #1 How could the Better Business Bureau accredit a vehicle shipping company that is literally not capable of doing JUST and ONLY that? #2 For 3 consecutive days I was "promised" a new pick up time, every four hours- by multiple different dispatch representatives who knew very little about my transport case, which was very simple, nothing out of the ordinary. #3 After taking our deposit National Transport was completely and totally unreachable when I needed them most i.e. when their truck NEVER showed up, by that I mean they NEVER actually even sent a truck to pick up my car. I could not be more blown away that companies are allowed to stay in business when this is how they are operated and treat people. I would suggest new leadership and better training but what do I know? I'm just half way across the country with no vehicle. I was told pickup would be in 5pm so I schedule goodbye dinner with friends at 7pm. At 5pm I called as the driver hadn't shown. Was told that traffic was to blame he'd be there at 6pm. At 6pm I called again as driver was still MIA. Was told driver was West Palm and that is a difficult city to deliver and pick up. I wasn't rude but did make myself very clear to the person on the other side of the line, that I'd be going to dinner and that the drive needed to wait for me just as I waited for him. My experience with them is positive, but new customer should have the right expectation. 1. The company is more like a broker between customer and contract truck driver. Asked them to change first day of pick up to 6/14 6/14: Receive the second phone call at 10am for pick up, this time they told me the driver will arrive the next day. The driver (Anthony) called me around 6pm and told me he should arrived around 10am. I'm finishing packing, throw everything into the car, and had a good sleep. 6/15: Driver (Anthony) arrived around the time, inspect the car, and put the car on the truck. I gave him two address, one for home and one for work so it's easy for me to pick up depend on the time. 6/17: First day of new Job. Car delivered to San Jose right before I left my office, so I was able to drive home with my car. Anthony also made a few call to me prior to deliver to make sure he can deliver to the right location. 6/19: I'm writing this review. I had contacted National about transporting my motorcycle from SC to Iowa. I was assured that it would be in Iowa on time as I had to catch a flight the next day. The proposed day of delivery came and I received a call from National that my delivery would not occur that day at all. They did not know when it would be delivered. This definitely put me in a difficult situation. I immediately cancelled the transaction and was told I would be charged $100 for a proceeding for something that their fault. After I learned the I'd be moving across the country to Mississippi (from CA), the best decision I made was to forgo the 35-hour drive and pay someone to transport my vehicle. The second best decision I made was to hire National Transport to do it. At first, due to the driver's schedule, I was given a 3-day window in which my vehicle would be picked up. Thankfully, the timing worked out and my car was picked up on the perfect day, right before I was due to fly out. The driver, Daniel Brank, informed me that he would be the one to meet me in Mississippi exactly 1-week later, gave me his personal cell phone #, and made me feel at ease. Daniel's communication was incredible and even ended up delivering my car a day early! Service is horrendous! The company said the pick up would be on April 13 "in the afternoon" and here it is April 14 and still no pickup. Every excuse in the book was used-traffic, delayed at the weigh station, brake issues. I incurred a day and a half (at least) of car rental charges I didn't need, but also missed my wife's going away party because these clowns do not know what they are doing!! When I spoke with customer service, they not only didn't offer any type of compensation for my inconvenience, they didn't even offer an apology!! My car was delivered fast, on time, and undamaged. It was really dirty; like I waited till after it rained before going through the car wash dirty. I have rarely seen a car that dirty. Even so it was an open trailer and I can't find fault. But when it was delivered the battery was dead on both the car and the portable jump battery. He hooked up the portable jump battery. The power window rolled down a inch. My father and I had to push the car off the trailer. And push it into the drive way. This is were it gets bad. The driver left us with a dead battery and the power window rolled down a inch and it looked like it would rain any second. Panicking my dad removed the battery while I bought a new one at the store. So we did an hour of unnecessary work, paid $150 to replace a perfectly good battery, and got really dirty doing it. read more
