I shipped a small truck from Northern California to Central Iowa via Mercury Auto Transport. This was my first time shipping a vehicle, and while the process was a bit nerve-wracking at first, it ultimately met my expectations. I initiated the transport with agent Jake Horner on July 29. Jake explained that he would work on locating a driver/carrier as soon as possible. On August 4, I received a text letting me know a carrier was available. Jake also shared the updated cost, which was slightly higher than the original quote but still within my budget. Between July 29 and August 4, Jake stayed in touch via text -- something I appreciated, as I had initially believed the truck would be picked up within 1-3 days based on our early conversations. Once the carrier was confirmed and the contract agreed upon, the truck was picked up in Northern California. The carrier estimated delivery to Central Iowa in 3-4 days. While the carrier's own communication was minimal, both June Carrol (Mercury Fulfillment) and Jake (Mercury Agent) stayed in contact via phone, text, and email. The carrier was unable to deliver directly to my address due to low-hanging trees, but he arranged to unload about four blocks away. This worked out fine. Overall, I was satisfied with the service, communication, and price. My advice for first-time customers: Ask for clear timelines and be prepared to be flexible. I signed contract with them 2 weeks prior to required shipping window (I allotted 3 days to maximize flexibility for truck drivers). Scott Hawley was the contact. Received lots of automated emails/texts with BS updates -- which Scott verbally stated the opposite of the info in emails. Couldn't get an actual call from him until I said I was looking for other options (at the onset he didn't call me at either time that HE scheduled with me). He did respond to my text when I asked if they couldn't locate a truck due to them not offering enough $$ to transporter and he said nobody was available on my schedule at his price point. Hmmmm, guess they were holding out for el cheapo, hard up driver to take their lowball price? Meanwhile, they didn't ask me if I was willing to consider a higher price since their quote was obviously below the market rates. I then immediately got a 2nd quote (only 3 days before we were flying across the country) to ensure that our car wasn't left behind. The new broker charged $50 more than Scott had quoted but provided 3 different transport carrier options within 12 hours (remember Scott had just said none available???). Good thing I trusted my gut because it's now 4 days after the scheduled pick up, my car will be here tomorrow, we have left Cali, and I still receive the BS automated emails and texts saying the car will be picked soon... He screwed me over exactly like his emails warn that other companies will do. Beware! There are quite a few scammers and bait-n-switch operators in the brokered transport area. I don't think Mercury is 1 of them, but it's very clear that they don't care at all about their customers. Horrible Experience with Mercury Auto Transport and Y&G Carrier Inc. -- Avoid at All Costs! I feel obligated to warn anyone considering Mercury Auto Transport. I hired them through their agent Brian Wieser, who initially seemed helpful. He connected me with Y&G Carrier Inc., the company responsible for transporting my car to Florida. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a nightmare. First, the delivery was late -- which, while frustrating, was not my main concern. The real problem began when I contacted Y&G Carrier Inc. to ask where I should pick up my vehicle. Their representative, Irina Alba, responded with unbelievable hostility. I have all the screenshots to prove this, including messages where she insulted me with disgusting language like: "Go f*** yourself fag" "F***ing dumbass" She even threatened to keep my car if I didn't send a cash payment before receiving it -- a direct violation of my written agreement with Mercury and agent Brian Wieser, who guaranteed payment upon delivery. When I reported this abusive and threatening behavior to Mercury and provided them with the entire conversation, they did absolutely nothing. No apology, no accountability, no action against this unprofessional carrier. To make matters worse, when my car was finally delivered, it wasn't even on a truck -- which is completely unacceptable. The driver had driven my car instead of properly transporting it. My car arrived with unexplained extra mileage, smelling of humidity, and water had gotten into the carpet, leaving it with a foul, lingering odor. God only knows how much my vehicle was driven or mishandled during transport. For context: I've transported vehicles many times over the years and I have never experienced anything this outrageous. Cars are supposed to arrive on the truck, not driven across states like some rental car. Bottom line: Mercury Auto Transport is unreliable, negligent, and they fail to stand by their customers. Y&G Carrier Inc. is beyond unprofessional -- they are hostile, insulting, and abusive. Save yourself the stress and regret. Stay far away from these companies.
