The downspouts in the back of my yard had no run from their termination points, and the one that…read moredid collapsed a few weeks ago. I contacted Nature's Friends to sort out my issues and Cliff was over at my house in no time. He talked through any prior water retention issues I had, and came up with a plan to future proof our house from any flooding that could happen with big storms. The crew were back out within a few days and executed the plan as Cliff specified. The laborers placed one of the pop-ups a little too close to the house, and without any intervention, the day-of-supervisor spoke with me to let me know they would extend it according to plan, and corrected everything. They also replaced my sump pump, which was not the easiest thing due to a seized grate closure (see pics), and at a fraction of the price quoted by plumbers. I was really impressed with how quick everything was completed, and for a job like this (digging long trenches to run PVC), my yard looks nearly immaculate. They gave me instructions to heal the grass patches so my lawn would look as it did before in no time. After the work was done, Cliff reached out to make sure all was working well when it rained. I highly recommend reaching out to Nature's Friend for any of your needs -- you can tell they really care about their customers, and I will be reaching out to them for any future landscaping needs.

I had such a great visit to Ginkgo Gardens this morning. Cole helped me and was incredible from…read morestart to finish. I went in looking for a few low maintenance plants and Cole walked me through several options with real care and attention. I picked up a Hoya Compacta Hindu Rope, a ZZ plant, a Philodendron Lemon Neon, a Bromeliad, a Crassula Jade, an annual, and a six inch Euphorbia Firestick cactus. Every plant looked healthy and well cared for. Since it was a quiet Wednesday morning, I got very personalized attention, but honestly the service here is always excellent even when the store is busy. The staff makes every customer feel valued, no matter how many people are in the shop. The prices are higher than big box stores, but the quality and care of the plants make it worth it. This is easily one of my favorite plant shops in DC and I always leave feeling excited about my new plants. Thank you again to Cole for the great recommendations and wonderful customer service.

Denchfield has consistently kept our yard looking nice at a reasonable price…read more Unfortunately, we have to discontinue service with them after 4-5 years because they have proven themselves incapable of providing advance notice before applying toxic pesticides to our yard. We have a dog with chronic kidney failure who runs free in the backyard, so it's critical for us to know when there will be chemicals in the yard that he should not be exposed to for 48 hours. Not only do we receive no advance notice, but we have sometimes discovered Denchfield employees applying pesticides to the yard *while the dog was following them around out there.* How absurd! We complained repeatedly, but to no avail. This week Denchfield applied pesticide without warning or permission (or contract--we have yet to renew for the year) to our yard for the last time. We are outraged. In addition to forcing us to keep the dog out of the yard for the next two days, this puts a serious damper on our upcoming weekend, which we were planning to spend doing yard work. In fact, this more or less ruins our spring planting. We've been told that new grass, which we were wanted to seed this weekend, will not sprout for up to 6 weeks after application of weed killer.
