A friend of mine scheduled a get-together at this restaurant located in the Phoebus area of Hampton…read morelast Friday. It's high-end, which I barely touch due to pricing, but it does not hurt to try something new. Let's see how the evening went. After our entire party arrived, we were all promptly seated. Inside, the decor is perfect. From the bar to the dining area, everything was spotless. You can tell the staff really cares about keeping the place tidy. And they had New Orleans-style music playing through the sound system. Very relaxing. After looking through the menu, I was ready to place my order. I chose their fish special, which was salmon with veggies and a sauce (forgot the name). This dish was very good. It was probably the best cooked salmon I've ever had. When you see seafood with the perfect crust and a lot of flavor, you're in heaven. It did have a small bone and I felt it lacked the amount of squash and zucchini, but again, a wonderful meal. There was one situation which resulted in only a 4-star review. Out of curiousity, I saw on Facebook that they offered $5 discounts. I did let my party know and we were all ready to use them when the bill was ready. But the staff told us the discount was to be used on a table rather than an individual ticket. When we looked both on Facebook and our personal emails, none of that verbage was mentioned. Not trying to sound harsh, but please be sure to state every detail foe customers. We do want to find ways to save some cash out of our wallets. Except for the discount mishap, the visit turned out well. I can say I'll be back to give them anothee go-around. Till next time :)

Great for special occasions.

My order was supposed to come with mac and cheese, potato salad, and rice, but they substituted the rice with cabbage without telling me. When I asked for potato salad, I was told they were out, but no one explained the substitution or asked what I wanted instead. There was also no rice under the meat or cabbage, which is normally part of the dish. The whole plate was a disappointment, and at this point I probably won't recommend anyone else eat here. We drove 30-45 minutes from home to pick up the order because it was supposed to be cheaper in person, but instead of the usual ~$24.99 I was charged $30 with no explanation. The goat meat platter has always been my go-to comfort meal from this place, especially after long days at work. With inflation and the government shutdown, I haven't been able to treat myself in a while--and today, when I finally had the chance, the experience was completely ruined. My sunshine at the end of the tunnel was covered in rain clouds. Have a blessed day.

How do they stay in business. I waited about 45 mins for 2 eggrolls and they were terrible. I got the soul food and a jackfruit eggroll. The "soul food" had mac and cheese, collard greens and yams. The noodles were mushy and tasteless in the mac and cheese. The yams were dark brown because of too much nutmeg or allspice. They were awful. The collards were mid. The jackfruits tasted old and look re-warmed. Please do better. This is not a good representation of vegan food. It was so disappointing. The two young guys at the register didn't seem to have a clue about anything. Every question I had, they had to run in the back and ask someone. They were more interested in singing to the music that was playing then customer service. I was sick about 30 mins after trying these. beware!

They were pretty busy but we were able to park. It was seat yourself so we picked a high top near the window. It took a moment for someone to get to us but our server was kind and helpful. We got the bulgogi cheesesteak egg rolls (6 pieces). They are always a big hit. It's a large appetizer so definitely shareable for a group. We then tried the Asian Zing wings and their ranch. Both are amazing. The wings were sauced really well and weren't too spicy but had plenty of flavor. The ranch was AMAZING. My boyfriend got the chicken bacon pineapple burrito bowl and had plenty of food. He said it was balanced "yummy". Finally, I got the sweet-n-salty jerk chicken taco and a pew pew shrimp taco. The jerk chicken had a bit more spice than I like to it and not enough of the pineapple to cut it. The pew pew taco was two large shrimp which I ended up eating with a fork because the taco was too full to get a bite of everything. Overall everything was really good. Whoever was on the chive station cut them too big and was a little heavy handed. Overall, great food & a good atmosphere (if you're ok with sports on the TV and an eclectic playlist)! They have a stage for live music and it looked like a game room. Will have to check that out next time!

The food was flavorful and well-presented, with a menu that feels balanced and approachable. A few items really stood out, while others were solid but not unforgettable. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, making it a nice spot for a casual meal or a laid-back evening out. Service was friendly and attentive, though it slowed slightly during busier moments. Overall, Sage Kitchen delivers good food and a comfortable vibe. With a bit more consistency and speed during peak times, it could easily earn a full five stars.
