We drive up to Machipango Trading Every time we stay in Cape Charles. They continue to provide the best, freshest sandwiches, coffee, and breakfast items anywhere around. We've pretty much had every coffee drink and breakfast sandwich and many of the lunch items. Cape Charles is generally fairly crowded in the summer so I'd encourage everyone to journey north for made to order menu and EXTREMELY welcoming and friendly service. Friendly service, great variety on menu. You can have breakfast or lunch. Barista coffees and fresh smoothies. Retail shop has fun assortment of local snacks, candies, chips, cool drinks and protein bars. Craft brew beers and wine for off-site consumption. I would love to see one or two bistro tables inside to sit while waiting or dine in. There is bench seating outside under covered porch. We had the Turkey Pesto on and a Ham sandwich and hot lattes. This was a nice little stop for coffee and a pastry. There were several types of coffee which is self serve and very good. The pastry was excellent and heated for me. The only down side is there isn't any inside seating but there are benches outside under a porch. Service was quick and friendly. This is a great place to stop right off Rt 13. The inside is relatively small but they have some chairs right outside where you could sit and eat or drink your coffee. I've only been here once but this will be a place I stop from now on every time I'm driving up the eastern shore. The drink I got was 10000/10, so good! Good coffee, nice quick stop off 13. Not as friendly as it used to be. Came by twice late in 2017 and both times was met with completely uninterested non-smiling faces. Last visit there, after raving about it to my wife for years, she replied "while that was unpleasant." Three people working there, interacted with all of them, nobody was welcoming or appreciative. Don't think the sandwich options have changed in several years. Be nice to see some more creative and larger sandwiches. They're good, but everything is made on the panini press or a wrap. Would love a large sandwich, packed thick with ingredients on hearty slices of fresh baked bread. Maybe add in some fat lunch burritos. Other than a bag of chips, there are no side options which is one of the reasons the skinny sandwiches will leave you hungry. The sandwich prices are fair, though. You'll just leave wanting a little more. The BLT had plenty of crisp bacon on it and was very tasty. I really do like the coffee that is roasted just down the road by Eastern Shore Coastal Roasting. That's reason alone to stop in. The espresso drinks are good. Take a bag of the Impact Espresso home if you have a machine for it. Haven't tried the ice cream but I know my kids will appreciate that the next time we're passing through. read more

When you are just a little hungry go try the trading company! We are so glad we did. We actually ended up getting it twice for lunch while we were there. Their menu isn't huge but we didn't need it to be. We stopped in for sandwiches and ended up with sandwiches chips and a drink. We chose the turkey pesto panini both times because it was so good the first time we wanted it again. I did actually try just the big cheese the second day and it was good too. We stopped by this place on our way home. Mom wanted something yummy and dad wanted it to be quick! They converted an old gas station into an adorable cafe! It was super cute ambiance. You order at the front and pay then you can sit down at one of three tables they have. The rustic ambiance is enhanced by the small size but if you come at a busy time you might not be able to get a seat. The food was absolutely delicious. I got a black bean burger without cheese and can honestly say that it was the best and most flavorful that I've ever had. The cold slaw was unique and tasty. The roast beef was "excellent", the chicken salad panini was "uh good", and the ham panini was "pretty damn good". We ended the meal with some freshly baked cookies, chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin. The oatmeal cookie was very good & soft but my dad is a harsh critic he's said that he's had better. The chocolate chip cookie was good, a bit on the cakes side but not too much. The edges were nice and crispy! My dad is moving down to Virginia for work and we've decided this is going to be a regular stop on the way home from visits. read more

I got a Cape Carmel- super delish, I wish I would have gotten it as a Frappé though, I did not. My hubby's iced chai was dare I say perfect. I got a turkey pesto panini- so good! A little shack, with a simple logo, that sells chips, brews, 'wiches, soups, drinks, sodas, delicacies, wraps, paninis, shakes, food stuffs, espresso and what ever you need to get back on the road. A road warrior's delight. Flavors were great, portions were ample, it was colorful, friendly staff, places to sit outside: its at the top of ratings: just for existing. There is no other place on the southern part of the DelMarVa Peninsula as pleasant as this. I didn't want to leave.. Haters below with bad ratings are snobbish 'small home'-dwellers; either from the sticks in Vermont, or from the diluted-culinary world of Beantown. Neither really understand good cuisine. A great spot to stop for breakfast, lunch, coffee, or a snack! We stopped for a quick lunch on a road trip. We got the cape Carmel and the mud something - both blended drinks. A bit like a Frappuccino, we liked both flavors. We got the bbq sandwich w slaw on the side. It was good, pretty standard bbq. The slaw was also good but not a traditional Mayo or vinegar slaw. It was sort of a cross between a light vinegar slaw and a pasta salad. It had cabbage, carrots, red onion, and red bell pepper. We also had the chicken salad on a jalapeño cheddar wrap. It was good but not a traditional chicken salad. It was served warm and with bacon and cheese, which is the dominant flavor. Overall, a great stop, we will definitely be stopping in the future to try more of the menu. Also, they don't have tables but they have a bench on the porch. Best frozen mocha I've had! My family stopped here for a mid morning pick me up. We had the High Mud, the Depth Charge and a mango smoothie for our son. All three drinks were excellent. We loved the variety of snacks and treats available in the store. A must stop on our next visit! read more
