Old trees, charm, all the houses nearby are different - my Grandma - a fairly well off city girl from Europe approved - and I can see why. Coming to the USA with nothing but two suitcases and 3 kids she quickly worked her way up to the Land Park neighborhood. A stunning house with 4 car garage, metal roof and pool. She loved old Sacramento and looked down on village or town or junky places. She too good for that. Piggy was too good for that. The romantic river once had the pirate boat shows - pig pig loved them. The old bridge - I love driving over that. Come here stretch your legs - now is the perfect time before it heats up for the summer.

I was driving over it the other day and it reminds me of going to Old Sac as a teenager, just hanging out with friends and walking across the bridge. It goes over the Sacramento River and just celebrated its 90th anniversary a few months ago. It is a nice little walk if you ever get a chance to do it and quintessentially Sacramento.

The steel tiles appear as leaves in the design, reflecting plantlife and the flow of the water, with its proximity to the river, and allow it to blend in with the scenery with its mirror-like finish, while at the same time continuously changing, as the artist, Federico Diaz, intended. If visiting the River Walk Park, it's worth taking notice of this simple yet beautiful artwork.

This shop is super small and quaint, a little over packed for me, but still clean 4/5. The workers are always super nice, though they should probably clean the knife after cutting each apple because the cinnamon of my apple got onto my friends separate order and she's allergic to it, outside of that I give the workers 4/5 for quick and kind service. The apple pie apple has always been one of my favorites, vey simple 4.8/5, but the toffee one (not-pictured) blew my tastebuds away! I shared it with my friend and he also felt it was a hard 4.9/5. We got several plates to share. The BO Tai Chanh, was just ok. Eliza wanted the shrimp chips. The Bun Rieu Capellini was ok to. We got two orders of the Mui Choy Kau Yuk , pork belly. It was flavorful . Finished with the vegetable fried rice and added an egg. We noticed that all the serving sizes were pretty small. I know it's from Kru but come on. Most of the dishes we could of made ourselves. Nothing to write home about. We were disappointed. Oh well. maybe they will come up with better items later. but for now I would pass on this place. At least we came once. Great for my UYE but not great for the food. I would give a 3 star if that. We still had a fantastic time with the crew, catching up. Till our next food outing.

The Crocker Art Museum was a place I had always wanted to visit. We arrived early so we could explore the museum before the concert, and I'm so glad we did! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and check-in was very easy. They give you a sticker indicating whether you're a member, patron, or attending for the concert. The best part? Our concert tickets included admission to the museum, so we got a wonderful two-for-one experience. We started on the third floor and worked our way down, just as the staff recommended. There was SO much to see! I loved the variety of exhibitions and the incredible use of color. There were works ranging from modern and contemporary pieces to Baroque and classical art, along with beautiful geometric pottery and so many different artistic styles. It was truly a nonstop feast for the eyes. The museum itself was peaceful, quiet, clean, and very well organized. I also appreciated that there are very clean bathrooms conveniently located on each floor. We eventually made our way down toward the concert venue, although we didn't have enough time to completely explore the second floor. That just gives us another reason to come back! The concert was held in a relatively small venue, which made the experience feel incredibly intimate and almost like being in someone's beautiful home. The concert featured a violinist and pianist who performed continuously for just under an hour, with very short breaks between pieces. It was absolutely magical and beautiful. The audience was respectful and wonderfully quiet throughout the performance, which made the experience even more special. The musicians were also local to California, which was a lovely touch. The only thing we missed was the café. Since our concert was at 3 p.m. on a Sunday, we were actually getting pretty hungry by the time the concert started, but the café had already closed at 3. So if you're planning to spend the day here, I recommend grabbing a snack or something to eat before the café closes. Overall, we had such a beautiful day at the Crocker. I especially loved seeing the historic Crocker Mansion alongside the continuously changing exhibitions. It's a wonderful combination of history, architecture, art, and music all in one place. Whether you're a Sacramento local or visiting from out of town, I highly recommend adding the Crocker Art Museum to your list. We'll definitely be back -- and next time, we're making sure to see that second floor!

It's definitely one of the more iconic murals in Sacramento and it's hard to miss when you're in the area. It's fun to see during different times of the day in the city and even more fun if you go on a mural walk through the city.

Located at the Residence Inn on 15th Street, the Johnny Cash Mural covers an entire side of the…read morefifteen-story hotel, and can be seen from several blocks away. If you want to get technical (and I do), it's actually called the Shepard Fairey Mural, after the artist who painted it. Fairey painted this particular mural in 2018, as part of Sacramento's annual Wide Open Walls mural festival. The design is based on a photo taken by famous photographer Jim Marshall. According to his biography on the Wide Open Walls website, Fairey founded the OBEY clothing line, as well as the Studio Number One agency. He was commissioned by TIME magazine to create two Person of the Year covers, including one of Barack Obama. A quick Google search of his name leads to dozens of other incredible murals. Personally, this is one of my top ten favorite murals in Sacramento, and I consider it a must-see. I find it hilarious that the previous reviewer pointed out that it's "free to see," since it can be publicly seen from so far away. Anyway, my favorite Johnny Cash song is Hurt. What's yours?

We tried five different places that she chose based on the group's preferences. We had a cocktail, a coffee drink, a dessert, and a few different dishes from midtown restaurants. I never felt full (the F word!) but I was happily satisfied at the end. I had never eaten at any of these places so now I know more great places to try. Dawnie has an amazing depth of knowledge about the area, the food scene, and the history of our Farm to Fork capital. She loves the city and it shows in how she highlights it in her tour. The biggest surprise for me was the street art. I had never noticed these murals nor did I realize we had a history of street art and unique festivals. I will definitely be checking those out more in the future! I hope to do more of their tours and explore other parts of the city in the future!
