I love Natural Grocers so much. The amount of knowledge and food education that is available is immaculate. It can be difficult to find credible sources and trust that what we are buying is exactly what it claims to be. I think the workers don't get paid enough to deal with the entitlement that does come with an alternative, health focused grocery store. A little kindness and compassion goes a long way. read more

This is my favorite grocery store by far! Their prices are much better than sprouts or whole foods and I personally think they have the best selection, especially for vegan products. The grab n go options at the front are also very good. I grabbed a vegan burrito on my way out this time. It was about $4 with tax (not quite as cheap as taco bell lol) and was very filling and delicious. They always have different options that I'd love to try. The staff are very kind and helpful as well. Every Sunday when I go in I always have a nice chat with one of the same two cashiers. This is my neighborhood grocery store, I walk to it two or three times a week. Very nice and helpful employees, best price on good eggs (I'm picky about my eggs--their prices allow me to have eggs that are excellent quality without taking up all of my food budget!), and their mission of good organic food at good prices is comforting. They carry my favorite sourdough bread (Bred, out of Steamboat). Selection is not as big as your average large chain, and there are certain items I buy on my bi-weekly shops elsewhere, but pretty much everything I need is here at a clean and spacious store. read more

The store near Colfax and Garrison is an amazing step-back-in-time, small town grocery store. The clerks know your name, what you like, go above and beyond to help your find something, order an item, or suggest a different store (even if it is a competitor) The groceries are well stocked and fresh. They don't have bags. Of any sort. That being said, it's in a clean, well-lit parking lot; walking in you definitely get that "hippie vibe" because it smells like patchouli and basil and herbs. Every time I come in here looking for something I know KS won't carry and Sprouts may or may not carry but might be overpriced, I am always amazingly surprised -- from Miracle Noodles (super low carb but a passable noodle substitute) to Swerve/erthyritol no carb sweetener, to...well I don't remember what the 3rd item was, but they had it. Aisles easy to navigate. Other shoppers sometimes have an air of pretentiousness about them (or at least a perceived one), but hey...it's not Nirvana. I was recently on the hunt for cinnamon sticks, in bulk. I had tried H Mart, Whole Foods, and King Sooper's, and was disappointed to find only ground cinnamon, or those glass spice jars with sticks in them. I was debating ordering them online, but remembered buying them from a different Natural Grocer's earlier this year, and this location was closest to me. I quickly found what I was looking for, plus they were organic. Once I had the cinnamon sticks, I wandered the store picking up other items I needed. One of the things I love about Natural Grocers in general is their pricing. Terra brand sweets and beets are a dollar less expensive than at WF. Same thing with Lilly's brand chocolate bars. WF offered them on sale as 2 for $6. They're ~$2.50 each at the store. The store was clean, the clerks courteous and friendly. I'm happy I went to this store. read more

This is the most unethical store. They do not care about their customers. I ate moldy yogurt from a container that had expired 3 weeks prior but they had not removed it from the shelf. They did nothing for me even though all I asked was for them to reimburse me for my time dealing with the medical appointments I had to have as a result of this. Instead they called me and turn it around saying I was "harassing" an employee when I was only asking for her contact information. Zero integrity. read more

A Bargain Hunter??? Huhhh? Hide Your Face in Shame!!! That's how management treats you if you purchase something from the Clearance Cart and then the item doesn't work. Three days ago, I spotted a small bottle of Lense Defogger. A sign on the shelf said: "Up to 50% off!" "Neat!" I said to myself. Something to keep my glasses from fogging up when I have to wear a mask. "Plus, it's on sale!" After purchasing the item, I followed the directions on the bottle, applying a small amount of lense defogger and cleaning my glasses as directed. I put on my mask as usual, expecting to be able to see -- absent the condensation. Sadly, the "lense defogger" made absolutely no difference. Today, I tried to return the item and get a refund. The first person was new to the job and said she needed to call a supervisor to get me the refund. The supervisor arrived and the humiliation began: What? You want your $6.75 (plus tax) back??? Don't you know better?! You should have paid the full price of $10.00 (plus tax) if you expect to get a refund! I had no idea the original price was $10.00. I was mainly interested in solving the lense fogging problem caused by having to wear glasses and a mask at the same time. If Natural Grocers wanted to, they can warn customers before the customer makes a purchase, letting customers know they assume full risk if they purchase from the Clearance Cart. They get no refund if the item is defective, doesn't work or is otherwise worthless. Why isn't the customer warned? It's just as easy for an employee to post a sign of warning as it is to post a sign, "Up to 50% off!" In my case, it seems someone at Natural Grocers simply wanted to unload unwanted merchandise onto unsuspecting customers. Who failed? 1. The supervisor failed customer service school. 2. Natural Grocers failed its customers by hiring such a person. 3. Natural Grocers failed at trust building. 4. I failed by assuming Natural Grocers was trustworthy read more

A frequent occurrence at Vitamin Cottage that I have encountered with years of purchasing from this business. Items advertised for a three-four day sale price are not available even the day after sale began. These items are normally stocked which I purchase on a regular basis. Employees give a different response as to the reason the product is not available for purchase. They do not provide rain checks to use when product is available. The last time this happened I contacted the store's customer service and was given more excuses. I was told that a coupon would be sent to me for ten dollars off the product to use in the store. It has been a month and that has not arrived in the mail to me. That tactic used to be called "bait and switch" and wonder what it is called these days. read more

I have been to this Natural Grocers several times, and with my latest or recent visit, if I am not mistaken, this store "expanded" its premises where the "Halloween Store" used to be, making this Natural Grocers slightly bigger. Was here with N, on Friday October 5th 2012. Managed to find the Tea that I have been looking for, since the local Walmart, or King Soopers nearby my house did not have it. Went into this location for the first time today to pick up some dog food and yogurt, I'm a big fan of the vitamin cottage/natural grocers chain and until driving by didn't realize this one was there as its much closer to my home than the one on Leetsdale. I really love the layout here its in a much larger space than most and everything feels light and airy they also what I consider to be a larger section of fresh fruits and veggies and a great selection of pet items and other great things. I peeked into the vitamin section and they are very well stocked the assistants were very friendly and super helpful I was even helped by a guy with a dog pin on his apron. I enjoy Natural Grocers because it is not as claustrophobic than shopping at Whole Foods. As much as I love the two, I enjoy selecting my cosmetics here: Giovanni sells amazing leave in hair treatment, and inspired me to use less mousse. I love the soap bars and they can go as cheap as $1.99. The service is top- notch and they are always available to give a helping hand. I thought Luke, the cashier, was friendly and professional. Instead of plastic bags, he suggested a cardboard box from the bins of boxes. I loved the interactions, but that's at every Natural Grocers. It's a fun and positive experience. I retired from Walmart and Target. Although my commute to healthier shopping is miles away, it's worth it for me. I enjoy that the items are cruelty free and animal friendly. Vitamin Cottages have a distinct smell upon entering. It doesn't matter how new or old the location. It's like they've found "80s natural food store scent" in a can. If you frequent Vitamin Cottage, you know *exactly* what I'm talking about. Anyhoo, I love Vitamin Cottage, they have a wide selection of organics and natural foods at (usually) a lower price than Whole Foods or Sunflower. And the staff is always helpful. Make sure to BYOB (bring your own bags) though. They no longer provide them-plastic OR paper. read more

I like this little grocery. The staff is always so nice here and very helpful. You can get some great bargains on sale items which I believe change monthly. There is a small produce section and a small section with cheeses and dairy products. They carry various ethnic foods and ingredients and there is also a bulk section. I like that they carry local chicken and many other local products. The location is perfect at major cross street and near the train station in the southeast end of D-Town. This company is a joke. It does not even deserve 1 star shop anywhere else but there. Listen to this ridiculous policy. They only allow 1return per receipt. So in other words, let's make things difficult for the customer, the very people that made them wealthy. So if you shop there and you buy 30 items, pay them all separately just in case you need to return something because after one shot that is it. I bought 2 items for pain and was told they were returnable if they did not work. Liars! So watch out. So I told the manager in Greeley I will never shop Natural Grocer again and he lost hundreds of dollars a month and did not care. Find a company that does value your business because the owners are jerks. So now they have lost me, my family of 23, and all of my friends will no longer shop with them, and of course any smart people reading this. read more

I love this place! Sure, there's lots of expensive stuff, but if you shop wisely and get what's only on sale, you can come out a winner! The gluten-free section is enormous and I love their packaged bulk isle. Wide array of duh, vitamins, supps, and whatever crazy cleanse/diet you're on. This grocery chain is not for meat-eaters. It's a paradise for vegans. The meats they offer are confined to a very small section of pre-packaged slide cold cuts, outside of that they have nothing other than a bit of meat in some frozen dinners. There is no deli and consequently they do not carry packaged roasts, pork chops, hamburger, bison, chicken, ham, sausage, lamb, turkey, seafood, fish, etc. which is important for those of us on keto or similar diets. For that one must go to Whole Foods, King Soopers, or Safeway. Most of the animal products here are limited to dairy items. They'd be much more competitive if they offered standard selections of meats, fish, poultry, and seafood. They also don't have sugar free candies that Whole Foods offers. 5/20/23 at approimately 4pm I was denied access to a public restroom in the Natural Grocers located at 2053 S Colorado Blvd, Denver, CO 80222. I was told by an employee exiting the restroom that I could not have the code for the public restroom because they no longer allow people to use the public restroom. There is no sign posted stating "no public restroom". After calling the store and speaking with a manager named ***, I was told that sometimes some customers are allowed to used the public restroom, but either the regional or head manager just decided not to allow access one day to not allow it all of the time. There is no written policy regarding customer restroom access. Additionally, the store has not applied for an exemption to the Colorado Revised Statutes Title 25 - Public Health And Environment Article 41. Restroom Access Act Section 25-41-101. It is worth noting that more than 3 employees were working, the store is larger than 800 square feet and the public restroom which has a code on it, is not in an employee only area. *** the manager stated that Natural Grocers Corporate might not be aware of this no access policy. Also, the produce is often moldy and gross, so shopping elsewhere is probably better anyway. read more

This is actually a Vitamin Cottage/Natural Grocers - so about half of the store is vitamins and supplements and half is a natural grocery store. The staff is very helpful and they are always willing to order things in if they don't have the item you're looking for in stock. For anyone with food allergies or dietary restrictions this place is definitely worth checking out - they carry many wheat/gluten free products, vegan and vegetarian choices, and a small selection of raw foods products. ALL of their produce is organic too, so you never have to wonder what you're getting (although the selection is small, but they keep their prices relatively low). They also have a great bulk foods and spices section, and the prices on their raw nuts are always the best in the neighborhood. My only wish is that the store were larger so they could carry a larger variety of foods - but this store is very much in line with the other Vitamin Cottage/Natural Grocers branches. read more

One of my favorite grocers! Quiet location off of the busy street which is nice and keeps in-store traffic lower (hope they get plenty of business though!). I can always find yummy vegan food here. For example: a vegan "cheese" hickory smoked spread which is delicious. I think it's called "We Can't Say It's Cheese" pffft haha. I love that they package things like sugar, beans, spices, tea, nuts etc. for a reasonable cost. I also found Teff flour here after checking several other stores, so they do carry some hard to find items. Because of the lower store traffic, check out is always pretty quick. How do you not have -any- tortillas?? And occasionally, no whole wheat bagels! And the other day, no whole wheat regular bread! Ahh!! I mean, it's not the end of the world. I'll buy plain white bread and bagels when necessary, and I bought the refrigerated tortillas (Stacey's Tortillas, I think they're called) and they are absolutely delicious so... yay. But still... get Rudi or who ever your bread seller is in here more often! I love you guys but I love my carbs even more! On the other hand, in a fit of desperation, I did go to Sunflower for bread, and oh God how I regretted it. My go to grocery store. They have a great selection and variety of foods. I feel like I can find what I need in addition to finding something new, fun, and unique. Their prices are by far the most reasonable out of any other similar type of grocery store (i.e. Whole Foods, Sprouts) I love that I don't have to question if I picked up the organic produce or the "natural" version as some other stores kind of lead you into believing it is healthier or organic. The only place I find the prices to be a little higher is the meat, but it makes perfect sense. Especially with meat you get what you pay for. I appreciate that the store cares about making nutrient dense, clean food and personal care products easily available. Their staff has always been helpful and friendly. read more

Have you ever wanted to know what it's like to live in Portland or being in a Portlandia skit? Well you can live out your dreams at Naturals Grocers. From the "You didn't bring your own bags" shame to the aisle of local honey, NG is a taste of Portland in Denver. All jokes aside, this is a pretty solid store. There is a huge selection of fresh fruits and vegetables along with nearly every vitamin you could ever want to put in or on your body. Since this location is fairly close to my office I venture into the "grab n go" area pretty regularly. They have a nice selection of sandwiches, wraps and salads that are perfect for a quick lunch. There is also a small dining area in the front of the store if you just can't wait to dive into your food. All in all, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the selection is top notch. read more

This green movement has gone too far. First bagless grocery store I encountered. Maybe if they really had some gonads they would get rid of all the cardboard boxes also. Is plastic or paper really worse than cardboard? Prinicipal dictates I will never buy my own bag, so will just use the cardboard or go commando style with my lunch. I did try the curry rice noodles for $3.99 and they were OK, but needed more curry or some spices. They do have utensils, but no salt/pepper available. Also, don't get the drinks with Stevia in them - they are really nasty, but that is not Natural's fault. Different kind of experience for a newcomer, but Whole Foods still tops this place. read more
