Normally I'd never write a review for LabCorp, but years of dealing with their condescending…read moreemployees sent my temper boiling over this afternoon. In terms of speed of service, these guys have typically always been fine, in my experience. I've never made an appointment, have always been a walk-in, and am seen almost immediately. Very little wait time. No issue with cleanliness, either. The issue is, 100%, the disgruntled jerks they seem to exclusively hire. Whoever is behind the counter at any given time (usually an older white woman with glasses) is never, ever pleasant. Not even decent. Just these grumbling, unhappy people who foist their bad day -- which seems to be every day -- onto patients. And I get it -- just sitting in there this afternoon you had one guy who comes in, obliviously crashes right into the table next to the door, and doesn't move it back, and a patient who had to be told twice which room to go into. People don't listen and they have rotten attitudes. But unless they've demonstrated rudeness or stupidity, there's no reason to treat people poorly. So when I walked up this afternoon and saw a sign that read the following, I read it as, "this place is appointment-only except during a short period in the morning": "Effective 9/25 until further notice: Due to unforeseen event [typo on their part], San Leandro location will be appointment only with accepting walk-ins when time permits from 7:00-8:30 am." I'm an English major and a content marketer, meaning, I write for a living. Anyone with a basic grasp of English would likely read this as I stated above: appointment-only location except during this short window in the morning, if time permits. Well apparently their phlebotomist, the middle-aged Asian woman who always wears her hair in a ponytail, thinks their poor, typo-riddled writing is so sublime that confusion on my part was just me being either too lazy or stupid to read the whole sign. Because when I asked her if they're appointment-only, she snidely remarked that if I'd read the whole sign, I'd see that they're only appointment-only in the morning. Apparently, what they meant to write was that they're appointment-only from 7:00-8:30 am, with the ability to squeeze in walk-ins during that window only as time permits. Not hard to write unless you're more focused on making everyone around you as miserable as you. I was extremely close to reading the phlebotomist the riot act, but I don't need to get myself banned from a LabCorp so close to my house, which I need regularly. So I just made sure to give her back her attitude in spades the entire visit and wasn't nearly as nice to her as I usually am. She seemed to be picking up what I was putting down because she tried to be nicer in the end. Way too late to play that game with me.

I was surprised that it was a full house this morning around 8am but I learned it's best to come on a Tues/Wed/Thurs based on advice. Jessie provided thorough care. She's tactful and extremely entertaining. Loved her vibes! She was gentle even when my vein needed a reboot, the pain was tolerable without being too scary. I wish I could say it's super easily available to make an appointment but it's not. However, walk in's usually come and go pretty quickly. Today was just an extraordinary day. Record-breaking for me in fact. But Jessie and the front desk staff member were really professional and friendly throughout the entire process. I'm grateful that my questions were answered willfully. Scarred for life from a Crunch Fitness customer service experience. So it gives me a lot of appreciation for excellent customer service. Thank you and take good care!

Out of sheer luck I asked the pharmacy if they knew where Quest was and sure enough it was in the same building around the corner hall 111 Quest! I went with an appointment at 9:45am on a Thursday I could have been in and out but I waited to have my blood drawn laying down so I waited 10 mins for the bed since there's only one. So I was out at 10:00am! They had a very clean waiting room and excellent staff! Well done Quest so happy I went with my gut and went to my closest Quest! This is by far the worst Quest Diagnostics location I have visited. I attempted to schedule an…read moreappointment but was informed they were fully booked for the next month. Since walk-ins were listed as an option, I arrived at 1:30 PM. The check-in kiosk indicated there was only one person ahead of me, which I did not mind. However, there was no staff available to assist with the check-in process. The check-in area consists of a very small, windowless room with no access to speak to an actual staff member. This made the process especially difficult for several patients--mostly older individuals--who were not familiar with the technology and were visibly confused. I found myself assisting them as if I were an employee. I waited until 3:30 PM with no update. At that point, a staff member finally came out and informed us that walk-ins are not accepted after 2:00 PM and that anyone there for a walk-in could leave. This policy was never posted or communicated, which resulted in a significant waste of time. I explained that I had arrived before 2:00 PM, but was told I could stay until 4:00 PM to see if someone did not show for their appointment--though it was "more than likely" I would not be seen. The interaction was rude and unprofessional. Clear signage, staff presence, and better communication could have prevented this situation entirely. If it were possible, I would give this location zero stars.

The turn in leads to a small private lot with reserved parking spaces in the back for customers. It was not busy at all. I had my email with authorization barcode in hand and my ID. Once checked in, I was offered water. I verified my information, emptied my pockets into a locker, and chose a cup to pee in. No flushing or using the sink. The gentleman helping me was kind and professional. The whole process was quick and easy, less than 15 min.

Instead of texting me when they're actually ready for me, they text me immediately and tell me to wait in the waiting room. More than a dozen people waiting in there, treated like cattle. Waited for more than HALF AN HOUR past my appointment time- it was for routine bloodwork that's supposed to take no more than a couple minutes, I skipped breakfast to be there. I go in and they don't have the order. I have to physically go to my doctor's office (where, thankfully, I spoke to an actual human being who was friendly and helpful and took care of the completely unexpected request in about 2 minutes) and get a print-out of the order and bring it back. I do so, and I'm told that actually, they can't do it here, I have to go to Oakland. Wretched experience and I got the feeling everybody who worked there knew it.

It is usually very difficult to withdraw blood (and even get a shot) and takes 3 or more people (her Dad and I holding her and another staff member) but the phlebotomists we've had (Talpa, Aaron & Ram the float) have been so patient, understanding and friendly with her. Both times she didn't cry, get out of the seat or pull out anything. The only thing negative is waiting but they do their best to get to each patient fast and efficiently while still helping people at the kiosk since there is no one at the front desk
