Me and my partner went in recently to buy some shrimp and a betta. This is quite possibly the worst establishment in Denver. They're completely unorganized. I went to buy a fish from them today that I have been eyeing for weeks now. Every single time I go in, there's an excuse as to why I cannot adopt the fish. I have followed all of the crazy liberals rules, The one with the butchered haircut that looks like it went through a meat grinder. Anyways, I have contacted an attorney you will be hearing from him. People like you do not get away with the stuff that you do.. I hope everybody in Denver finds out that your employees are busier fooling around with one another than taking care of the animals. About a week ago, I came into this establishment looking to purchase a chameleon. I'd been in this store many times before as my husband purchases fish, supplies, and crickets for our tarantulas, which we purchased here as well. We've been loyal customers for years. With that said, we were excited to once again purchased another animal. A week prior, we had come in to view the selection of different types of chameleons and make our decision. I'd been preparing for a long while for this as I am aware reptilian care is vastly different from arachnid and canine and I want to provide the right environment and care. After choosing one, we decided to come back the following week to complete the transaction. Upon arrival, I noticed the one I was looking at had already been purchased so I began to look at the others and I had questions as they weren't marked on their containers as to price and sex. I sought out an employee for assistance and went to the counter with my inquiries. I waited patiently in line for the next available employee and was greeted by a young woman with green hair and a slightly dismissive attitude but seemed friendly. I greeted her and stated I needed help and had questions about the chameleons. I explained my confusion and inquiries. As she began to speak, her face changed. She looked as me suspiciously as she asked if I'd cared for exotic animals before. I explained, yes, I have cared for two tarantulas for the past four years. She then replied, dismissively, reptile care requires a lot of attention and a specific environment and that none of the animals come with health guarantees and should my lack of proper care result in the death of the animal, there are no refunds. I explained my awareness and said I've been preparing for this particular reptile with the supplies already purchased, environment and container setup, and further preparations completed, i only need said chameleon now. I told her I'd previously spoken with her colleague the week prior (tall young man with long brown hair) who was very friendly, cheerful, and helpful in steak contrast with my present experience with her. I asked if he was working that day. She started he was at lunch and didn't know when he'd return. She then stated that she didn't think I should get a chameleon because of the level of care and lack of guarantees and she felt I wasn't a good enough candidate. Not sure where she got that idea. I was taken aback by her lack of helpfulness, questions to ensure I was adequately prepared, etc. She was derritiendo rude and seemed to not en by to help me further. As the other employees were actively engaged with other customers, i continued with my inquiries and asked her to come with me to the chameleon area. She sighed audibly and seemed further irritated that I hadn't gone away. Once in the area, I asked my questions and then she became more irritable and her answers became curt and she fell silent when I'd made my decision and selected one. When I looked at her, she didn't seemed to register my words. I repeated what I'd just said and she repeated what she told me at the counter about reptile care and that there are no guarantees should it die from lack of care. Why does she keep saying this and why the implications that I'm a chameleon murder? WTH kind of service is this? I began to get angry and decided to go soak with my husband who was on the other side of the store. I found him and explained what had just happened. He could see my confusion, frustration, and anger. He decided we should leave and we did. Here's the thing: with the state of the economy and consumer buying activities, currently, I'm not sure any business can afford to lose sales due to the behavior of their employees. Not only was she not helpful she was unnecessarily rude and dismissive. I'm not sure of what's going on in her life but there's no excuse for this type of behavior towards anyone. I wasn't being rude, impractical, or difficult to get so why was she behaving this way to me? My husband and I were set to spend upwards of $600 that day but decided to take our permanent business elsewhere. We'd been loyal customers for years but no longer will we darken your doorway. No longer will any of our coins be spent here due to the actions of this disgusting woman. We have told our friends and family, who do have various exotic animals NOT to patronize this business and have suggested elsewhere. Business owner, is your business setup in a way to continue to lose customers in this way? I have many suggestions but I suspect nothing will be done. I just thought you should know. This place is amazing for live bait, gut loads, aquariums, and a lot of other great products. The animals looked healthy from what I saw, and the habitats were well-kept and clean. I did notice three turtles/tortoises housed together in one enclosure, which raised some concerns about space and long-term welfare, but they didn't seem stressed at the time. Overall, a great store with well-maintained animals. The bad reviews I see here are people blind trusting those who are not vets. We love Nature Box. We have been shopping here about a year now. Every time we come in, the staff remembers us and asks how we're doing. We usually make a visit every few weeks for feeders and have never had an issue. A huge plus is that the staff remembers my kids and I and are always open to questions from them. I really love this place! There had been times In the past where I wasn't sure how I felt of this place. But, after going in a few days ago completely changed my mind. They have all types of reptiles, amphibious, arachnids, and etc. They also have a wide variety of supplies for tons of different species. GREAT EXOTIC STORE FOR THE SOUTHERN DENVER METRO AREA! I am so happy I now have such a wonderful selection to feed my reptiles! My mother was inspired to have a fish tank again, which really made her happy! The selection for exotics here is top tier for sure! Not just the product they sell on the floor, but the live feed and lizards/snakes all seem to be in good health from an observable point of view. It has been nice watching the Black Panther Chameleon :) Like everyone else, finding enough staff is hard! Only downside is sometimes you'll get employees who may not be as knowledgeable as others... But after multiple bad experiences I can say that it's not a beginner friendly at all:( Went in there with some simple questions and the young girl was really rude with her customer service and completely ignored my questions twice. I felt really hurt today as she acted like if I was stupid. I hope they can really improve I love that place dearly and it's sad that's gone down like that. A cool exotic pet store with tons of snakes, geckos, fish and more! I love walking in and being greeted by Wilbur. I believe that he is a pig nose tortoise, but I could be wrong. Anyways, the store is fairly small, but you will find what you need. My sister has two red eared sliders and she has a hard time finding this specific light at other stores. Magically we found it here and have now been coming here for years just because we love it so much. The staff are usually helpful when you ask them a question, but they are not walking around the store asking if you need help. Most of the time they are doing stuff behind the counter so they are busy. Overall, this is a great small exotic store where you can find everything you need for your pets! read more

NEW BUYERS BEWARE!!! I have to say I'm very disappointed. That y'all sold me someone who told yall I'm looking for my first snake and was between a ball or a kingsnake. A snake with the spider gene that had wobble. Definitely won't buy from y'all again. Bought the snake back in April at the All American reptile and plant expo. She was a hatchling which I didn't know. Friends that have had snakes are fairly certain she had never had her first meal. She still doesn't eat on her own and must be forced to fed. Would never buy a snake or any animal from there! I also messaged them through Facebook when I first found out about the spider morph and she wouldn't eat. Never got a reply. Also talked to Eric today. I do everything wrong they do it all right. And if buying at an expo and new to the hobby they are too busy to ensure you get a snake without spider gene because they have 150 plus customers. Should I have looked up bumblebee morph yes. But many if not all other vendors I looked at that had snakes I liked have spider gene listed if they had morphs with spider. Which Eric says I'm also wrong about. I did call you and explained what all I've done and Eric immediately told me everything I did was wrong. He did not offer any assistance or explaining what I could do to make things right with my snake. Have sense giving my snake to a breeder that is going to try and get her back on food. We will see what a real breeder not a pet store thinks is going on. I have had one vet already suggest could be failure to thrive. One only thing I'm upset about is from the get go the snake was misrepresented. No mention of it having spider gene. Many other vendors at the all American reptile and plant show had snakes with mention of the spider gene. When talking to Colorado cold bloods they said they would not recommend spider gene to someone who was a beginner. read more

I've made two rounds at this exotic pet store so far and loved every second of it! You're first greeted by a beautiful live tortoise drifting and floating in the water. The aquariums are displayed beautifully, with lots of spacious tanks, algae, stones and every aquatic tank supplies carry. Then there's skinks, rats, lizards, hamsters, snakes, insects etc., it's all there! The pet emporium is really organized and super fun to explore. I enjoy the customer service; I definitely am aware of the other reviews. Luckily, I had more of great customer service here than other competitors. I'm hoping I won't have to return to Nature Box, unless I'm looking to buy another creature and rehoming it. After almost 8 months, I finally purchased two adorable and exotic skinny pigs!! They are both male and appear to be healthy, happy skinny pigs. Skinny pigs are hairless guinea pigs and are super hypoallergenic. (With exception to allergy reaction to their nails, skin, urine and hay.) I totally fell in love with them and named them Christmas & Gingerbread. (Purchased during the holidays) I had their cage set up several months prior, bought some small animal pellets and a new water bottle! The cost of the skinny pigs were a little pricey, but totally worth it. I love seeing them daily and they aren't so hard to maintain as pets. (So long you're prepared) I'm incredibly happy with my experience and hope to spend many, long years with my new critter friends! read more

Beware. They will over charge you without a second thought. I bought two pieces of wood and she charged me $46 before walking out I looked at the prices on the wood and they way overcharged me by $20 so I asked them to correct it. They would only give me store credit. So I asked them to just cancel out the order completely and they refused. This also isn't the first time I'm over charged here. Even with all new staff. I don't know what's going on there but it's sketchy. What kind of store refuses to cancel an order they were at fault for the mistake on. Would love to speak to a manager regarding this. Edit to add that on top of being overcharged their wood grew an insane amount of mold over the course of a few days inside my vivarium. This place truly doesn't deserve the hate it's getting on here, although it does have some issues. Nature Box is truly a great exotics store, with a really good selection of wood and scaping materials, along with a great variety of tropical fish (they specifically had a lot of freshwater puffer species in when I visited) inverts, frogs, leaf tailed geckos, and chameleons and on those things they do amazing! Their tanks are clean and a lot of them seem to be bred in-house!!! As for the complaint of rude employees, I couldn't find any? All of them were helpful and asked if I had any questions. As someone who works at a pet store, I'll tell you that the majority of reviews saying that staff was impolite usually stems from the costumer not getting what they want because they don't have the proper setups for the care requirements of the animals they want to get, leading to the employees either refusing to sell the animal or them very strongly stating that the costumer might not want to take this specific pet home. As I stated before they breed a lot in-house, have a great selection of things to scape your tanks with, and are generally pretty polite. The one downside that I have with this store and the only thing that keeps them from getting a five star is the care for SOME of these animals. The reason I put emphasis on the SOME in that sentence is the fact that some of their tanks are so amazing made for the animals inhabiting them that I wouldn't even recognize it as a pet store tank, but some others (specifically a lot of the snake tanks) are very poor in quality. Not because of the actual quality of the enclosure, nor because of the cleanliness factor (all these tanks were pristine) just the fact that they were keeping a lot of species which should be housed in solo tanks together. Now this would be fine if it was something like baby beardies or baby cresties, but they were housing three full grown adult ball pythons together. Same for some adult corn snakes, adult leopard geckos, and others. This would be a little bit more acceptable if they didn't have space to house all these snakes individually, but they did! They had loads of empty tanks on their shelves and they weren't using them! If this store just got rid of this one problem they would EASILY be a five star, but until then I can't do any higher than a four. read more

First off, I have spent literally thousands of dollars at this place over the last five years. I purchased a male Russo Leucistic Ball Python from Elisa back in 2018 for a breeding project. 3 years later, getting ready to breed, I had the snake professionally sexed (by a qualified veterinarian) and it turns out Elisa is incompetent and sold me a female instead of a male. Went in to get this issue resolved and was first told by Ryan I would need to come back two weeks later as all of the managers were on vacation. Came back several weeks later and was told by Eric that he can't verify this is the snake they sold me. Eric also wanted me to bring the snake back to Elisa so she can verify the sex AGAIN. Eric and Elisa have no business running a reptile store. They have become lazy, rude, and unprofessional. Chad, one of the co-owners is absent and nowhere to be seen. Huge variety, clean, and well stocked. I found my lil guy right away and am pleased with my purchase. Staff were extremely knowledgeable - not listing things off a sheet, but actually explaining everything in great detail. I was sent home with an awesome snake and everything he needs. I've been going here for around 6 years or so. The staff was a lot nicer when they were in their old, smaller location nearby. I am all about patronizing locally owned businesses, but as soon as they moved into the new location, their customer service has gone out the window. The staff, including the husband and wife team, make it obvious that they do not care about your business no matter how much you spend. The only one who even remotely cares is the owner, and I almost never see him anymore. I have spent over 2 grand there and it seems like they don't give a shit. Just come in, spend your money, and get out. Almost every employee I come into contact with act as though you're bothering them and interrupting their day with your business. The married couple there has no problem arguing in front of the customers, either. The rude and impersonal staff and hugely inflated prices are the reason so many go online to do their shopping, and I will follow suit. Do yourself a favor, and just order your stuff online. I come here weekly. I have interacted with many of the different staff, and I have nothing but good things to say. I had asked an employee a question while he was on the middle of something (I didn't realize it at the time) and he had set aside what he was doing to help me. We did a lot of research before choosing a starter family pet and decided on a bearded dragon. We visited as many reptile places as we could prior to choosing our new family member. Nature's Box was far and above the cleanest place, with the best selection. The staff were very knowledgeable and caring. You can tell they spoil their beardies, because ours already loves to snuggle and be handled. We are so glad we found Nature's Box, because they helped us to avoid the pitfalls of buying a baby because it's "cheaper" and gave us the knowledge and equipment necessary to feel confident in caring for our new pet. I want to share an experience I had with Nature Box Pet Emporium this week that should serve as a warning to everyone on this page. I am in the market for a Leachie and they have two for sale. Both were marked at $1,000. Additionally this price was confirmed via Facebook messenger by the store. I was hoping to find one a little more affordable and asked them if they could make me a deal on a full package with the gecko (including terrarium, CHE, Hygrotherm, etc) to bring a full setup into my desired price point. Last night, they responded with a deal of $1295 for the Gecko (with tax) and $355 for the gear, and they would sell it together for $1,400. I pointed out that the gecko was supposed to be $1,000 and that was the price on the cage. They sent me a picture of the cage with $1199 on it now and said someone else was also interested in the pair of leachies and prices can change weekly with demand. I asked them to honor the price they quoted me via chat this week and they told me to go buy from Feeder Frenzy if I didn't want their deal. I am thinking that is probably my best course of action at this point as I would trust Feeder Frenzy to remain consistent and honorable in their pricing tactics. Whomever was typing on behalf of Nature Box confirmed Chad the owner was reading the messaging. Though this is a pretty cool shop in Aurora, their business practices are dishonest and they perform bait and switch when they think they have a buyer on the hook. I wouldn't buy from them nor trust their business tactics. Collectively those of us who are lovers of herps should be treated professionally with kindness and respect and not taken advantage of. As Chad is the owner and can respond to comments, I am sure he'll comment below his defense of his business practices and he'll say that due to the "misunderstanding" (which there was no misunderstanding, just repricing when there were multiple interested parties) he is willing to knock off an additional $100 this morning. But what they can not do is refute the facts, as what I have stated is 100% accurate and I am happy to supply screen shots of the messages to prove it. I apologize for the rant, but when people are being treated poorly via a bait and switch, others need to know. read more

If I could, I'd give 0stars. A dear friend of mine got her first snake from this shop. A short while later, the snake died. She called and texted the so.e, and all they did was belittle and insult her, instead of trying to help. They used abusive language toward her, and were overall extremely unprofessional. NEVER buy anything from this store. They lie about the condition of their reptiles, and refuse to help customers with finding the best way to take care of their scaley companions. UPDATE: When I attempted to call them to complain about the lack of help and abusive language, the MANAGER told me to GO FUCK MYSELF AND DIE then hung up. I stopped coming to this location because of customer service last year and started going back out of convenience because it's closer than scales n tails. This location has continuous issues with customer service and providing incorrect amounts on feeders. It's not worth it. I'd rather drive the 30 mins to scales n tails off broadway and get quality feeders with great prices and outstanding customer service to match. These people at nature box don't seem to have any real passion for reptiles. Simply doing the bare minimum. It's so gross. read more

Took back the empty planter to show to the owner. He accused me of trying to scam him over $10 worth of plants. I usually spend at least $50 each time I go there.
