The web site is extremely deceiving, and any photos that are posted are very old. There were many concerns with our stay at this establishment. I won't list everything because it would be too long, and will just share the most serious. There were only 5 total campsites occupied during our stay (3 seasonal, 2 regular campers) and everyone we spoke to felt disappointed by the expectation from the web site vs. the very different reality. I hope to save someone else from making the mistake of booking this place. 1. There are no ponds, only swamps. See photos. The web site advertises 3 ponds, even referring to one as the "glamping pond." I promise they are swamps that are entirely taken over by invasive milfoil. Swimming is not only prohibited, but would be impossible and unsafe. As a side note, floats are not allowed in the pool (the only place to swim at this campground). 2. The layout is not at all like a campground. It is an open parking lot. There are no trees and no shade. The camp sites are like parking spots (see photos) with no trees or privacy between sites. 3. They advertise a schedule of activities for the kids. There were zero activities the entire week we were here. There is a rec room, which has tables/chairs, a tv, air hockey, and some board games. 4. Safety-there are no staff members that you will find if you need anything. There is a lady who works the front office but she is often not there. I turned on the oven in our cabin and it immediately started smoking due to sticky burned goop that was left by a previous guest, filling the cabin with smoke and setting off the fire alarm. No employee noticed or came. 5. Dog park-another deceiving part of the web site. It is a very small fenced circle with a tiny dog house in it. Be careful, the dog house has a hornets nest in it. 6. Since there is nothing to do at this campground, we found ourselves driving to off site activities daily. Most things are 45 minutes away. There is a nice beach about 15 minutes away. The nearest grocery store is about 15 minutes away (there is no camp store on site, they only sell ice at the office). I was really looking forward to floating in a lovely pond and enjoying a campground with all the amenities that are advertised here. The theme of the week was how we had been "scammed" and "catfished." We did our best to stay positive and make the best of it. My toddler enjoyed the playground and the bouncy house. read more

A big group of us camp here (50 this year) a couple times every year for the past six years and have loved this campground, and normally would give it 5 stars. Super clean woodsy and nice big sites, however the only reason we drive so far is for the ATV access. The campground will no longer allow ATVs next year and we are sad to have to find another campground. Bring the atv access back and we will be back! read more

My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our one-week stay at Nature's Wilderness in West Baldwin, ME. As a point of reference, we travel often, and most of our vacations have an active or outdoor theme (e.g., snowboarding, dirt biking, hiking, etc.). And, our travel accommodations vary from high-end slopeside properties to cabin stays near planned activities. Nature's Wilderness stands out for its location, setting, property, high-end cabins, and excellent service. The centerpiece of Nature's Wilderness is the main lake which greets you upon arrival and leads you to the property's entrance. This lake not only serves as a beautiful backdrop for your stay but offers relaxing fun for adults and kids alike in the form of free water activities - there are canoes, kayaks, rowboats, sailboats, and excellent fishing. My son and other guests fished multiple times a day as the plentiful Largemouth Bass ensures everyone takes home a trophy. Hint - Willy C's Bait and Tackle in nearby Brownfield, ME recommended a perfect lure for Bass that guaranteed a hit or catch every three or four casts. Before staying at Nature's Wilderness, the bar we strived to meet for cabin stays included a clean dwelling with a comfortable bed and a functional bathroom and shower. The cabins here raise the bar high as they are not only clean but include expensive furniture and beds/bedding, beautiful and immaculate full bathrooms, 60-inch flat screen TVs, and other amenities you would not expect to find in a cabin such as a $500 Vitamix Blender. Our cabin also included a brand new stainless steel Washer and Dryer. Also, our cabin like others included a gas barbecue, picnic table, Adirondack chairs, and a fire pit. In addition to the activities mentioned above on the main lake, there is a spring-fed pond with a man-made sandy beach for swimming as well as beautiful hiking trails, other lakes, and a small waterfall. There is also a real Fire Truck and Playground to keep kids further entertained. Although Nature's Wilderness is not currently being marketed as a premier destination for OHV enthusiasts, my son and I found the numerous trails cut through the 1000+ acre property on par or better than other Dirt-Bike destinations up and down the east coast. More specifically, we arrived with Dirt Bikes based on a brief conversation with Scott, the proprietor during the planning phase of our vacation. Scott underplayed both the number and quality of the trails, and we can see this becoming a major OHV destination in the very near future. Regarding service, Scott and his crew go out of their way to make sure everyone enjoys their trip. In various states of completion are other amenities that will further differentiate this property from other Maine cabin destinations including a beautiful tavern for adults (99% complete), a great activity/game room for kids (open now and further being enhanced with a small movie theatre), and a large saltwater pool that they were breaking ground on as we were departing. If you are a history enthusiast, there is a 200-year old road on the property (Deacon Rd) and the scattered remains of old houses, barns, moonshine stills as well as some very old cemeteries. From the NYC metropolitan area, Nature's Wilderness is an easy 6-hour drive. Nearby Cornish (5 miles) has an excellent coffee shop, antiquing, and a few excellent restaurants if you want to venture out. In summary, this is an excellent vacation choice in New England, and we have added this to our short list of repeat destinations. read more

7/20/2018 - My husband and I stayed here for a week. It was worth every penny and our experience was top notch. First, if you go to the website know that you are reading about the owner's plan for the resort. Scott is chipping away at things and when finished, this will be a real gem for folks no matter what level of camping experience you are looking for (cabin rental, camper, or pop-up tent). We both enjoy the outdoors and at first I was worried that the master plan might make it too busy and detract from what we loved. But Scott wants this to be a resort where you can enjoy the amenities and also enjoy the incredible 1100+ acres of nature around you. His plan will get him there. The accommodations: I like it when what I see for pics online matches what I get. The pics of the 2-bedroom camps are accurate (we stayed in #1); log cabin feel, modern amenities. All we needed was our food. The beds were comfy and there was air conditioning, if needed. The camp stays cool in the daytime sun and the ceiling fan in the kitchen/living room was enough most days. And the website is correct, no need to bring bottled water-what you get out of the tap is delicious! If you forget to pack something, the town of Cornish is 6 miles away with a Rite Aid, Cornish Hardware, Shop and Save, and sporting goods shop (The Local Gear). Between Cornish, Standish, and nearby Sebago Lake, you have lots to do off the property as well, and some good restaurant options for nights you don't want to cook. In Cornish try Krista's for dinner; pricy but delicious and you will have leftovers, and I can't say enough about breakfast at the Sacopee Valley House of Pizza. Great food and reasonably priced. Things To Do: Our first love was the lower pond, stocked with large-mouth bass. In 7 days there was only one day when we didn't fish. The bass are young, and therefore small (1-2lbs) but feisty and fun, in good health, and will only get bigger in years to come. Definitely a great place to take kids fishing, as they are sure to land one (or eight). There are kayaks, canoes, and paddle boats for the pond. The paddle boats have a sun awning, which was nice respite. Even if you aren't a fisherman you can enjoy the pond and it's wildlife including ducks, herons, geese, and turtles. Just today we had a hawk circling above the cabin and there are lots of songbirds around. Also, if you like moths you'll find some beauties if you look around. If you have a quad bring it! We don't own one but the owner took us for a ride in his, showing us the 3 very old cemeteries, the moonshine caves and bunkers, and several of the foundations that are sprinkled throughout the property. I would imagine spending hours going out through the property if we had our own quad. It's good hiking, too, but a little more than we were up for in the heat. Hardier outdoor folks will love it. We didn't wind up using it, but there was a picnic table, along with a fire pit well stocked with firewood right outside our cabin. There is a game room on the property and had we hit a rainy day I am sure we would have used it. Games, puzzles, poker and pool table, lots to keep you, kids, or grandkids busy. Long-term there will be a small general store and a little restaurant operation. Evenings we enjoyed the sound of crickets, frogs, and nothing else (an occasional car, but few and far between). For that matter the days were filled with wildlife sounds, too. There was a little construction noise as they work on the property, but nothing that detracted from our stay - I mention it just so you know. Other thoughts: Bring your bug spray, especially if you want to fish until a little after sunset, or if you plan to hike in the woods (where deer and therefore ticks are abundant). The owner Scott, and property manager Gerry are both friendly and helpful. The day we fished the upper pond Gerry surprised us by delivering a canoe for us - he just showed up with it. They are both great to talk to, friendly and helpful, and they want your feedback as they strive to make this a 5-star experience. By next year they will have more cabins, including smaller ones, open, as well as campsites for both tents and trailers. The sites are all spread out so you will still get some privacy, and for the cabins/tent sites they will have a building with private bathrooms (toilets/sinks/showers) for campers, including one that is fully handicap accessible. I am pretty sure everyone will love this place, even if you just just sit on the deck of a cabin and enjoy the breeze and the wildlife around you. read more

I recently stayed up here for Labor Day weekend. The camp isn't officially open yet, but after speaking with Scott, the owner, the finished product sounds spectacular. Me and a group of friends were up for a girl's trip and our stay in the cabin was amazing. All the amenities are brand new and the whole site has a ton to explore! Scott Efron was more than welcoming and invited our group and some other campers to a cookout by the bonfire which was a great way to connect with other campers and get to know your surroundings. We were glamping, but still got a taste of the great outdoors with the beautiful wood cabins and the scenic views greeting us every morning. Can't wait to come back!! read more

We booked at this campground fairly last minute for Memorial weekend camping. We have a 30 foot pull behind toy hauler and planned to do some riding and kayaking and this place checked all our boxes. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We were in the uppermost tv parking level which had power and water but no septic. We also had no grass at all, just a gravel lot that we backed into, so while not optimal, we were thankful for a last minute spot, and the lower level spots did have grass and septic and looked much nicer. We were really missing a bit of grass or maybe a tree to attach a hammock to, still, we were last minute and the other amenities were good. We had a small problem with the water and needed a new y gate (the neighbor had inadvertently broken it) and when we notified the office they were extremely responsive and had a new one to us within maybe 15 minutes. The riding was great. The grandkids loved the pirate play land, the pool was clean though chilly (it was Memorial Day in Maine). We brought our own kayaks but they had a nice array of canoes and a few kayaks free for use. Those were the good parts. Now for the bad part: the game room and bathrooms are combined. Not just combined, but the bathrooms are just 3 full bathrooms (sink, toilet, shower) inside of the game room. 2 of the 3 showers had broken temperature control mechanisms. In addition, while a person is in the bathroom trying to take a shower, unsupervised children are smacking your door with ping pong paddles, running around screaming, and if you're unlucky enough to have to wait for a room to open up. A kid might run over your foot with their bike inside the rec room. Yeah, this happened. Yeah I yelled at the little..angel. This setup is a terrible tactical error. For goodness sake, separate the bathrooms where dirty people are just trying to get clean from the place where exhausted parents send their hoodlum children to to try to get 15 minutes of sanity. read more

So we had to cancel our reservation due to a death in our immediate family and it was 6 days prior to our trip. At first we were told that we would not get a refund because it was less than the 7 days that they require. They said that they could extend our reservations up to a year. My husband explained that first we would not be up in this area for another 2 years at the most and 2nd - it was his mother who died and that he would send them a copy of the death certificate if need be - so would they please at least reconsider under the circumstances and at least refund part of what we paid. Well one of the owners/ managers called us and apologized and told us that we would be refunded the entire amount and they were very sorry to hear about his recent loss. So although we have not stayed at the park we just have to give them kudos and we will make sure to book a spot there in the next 2 years. read more

This was my first time doing a camping trip since I was a kid, and it was amazing! I went with a group of friends for a girls weekend and it was so fun and relaxing! The atvs were a blast, the lake and scenery was beautiful, and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The cabins were great quality; spacious and comfortable. I would 100% recommend whether you want to go glamping in a cabin or camp with your tent or RV. This place is beyond words! There is so much to see that it would take a month but if you ask the owner Scott or the Manager Gerry you will see or find what you are looking for. History seeker, fisherman, hiker, etc..they will hook you up! Aside from activities the scenery is just amazing and overwhelming. The entire reservation process was unorganized and very frustrating. Gerry the camp manager called me and explained to me that my reservation should not have been authorized because the cabin I reserved was for at least 7 days and my reservation was for 4 days. He told me the camp is under a new owner and the software for the reservation process was not working correctly. So at first he told me it was ok and he would allow us to stay in that cabin. Not to much longer he called me back and said that the cooperate office is not allowing him to rent us the cabin and that he was going to refund me the money. He said in return for all the confusion he would rent me 2 small cabins next to each other for free. He sent me pictures of the cabin and bathhouse and we agreed that would be fine. So weeks go by and we never received the conformation that we have the cabin reserved, I called Gerry and left voicemails because he would not answer his phone, so then I text him and when he finally texted me back he didn't even know who I was even though we had several phone conversations and text messages. So I explained to him the situation all over again and he finally remembered and said he would have Kim call me to get the cabins reserved. A couple days go by and I still don't here from Kim. So I texted Gerry to remind him again that I still have not heard from Kim yet. After that she called me and she was really confused on what was going on and that Gerry didn't explain anything to her about what was agreed upon for my reservation. She called Gerry and he said they can't give it to me for free like he said and that I would pay 2 nights and the other 2 nights are free. I said I will pay for 1 night and the other 2 nights free and they agreed. So Kim got it all taken care of and everything was finally confirmed. So we show up to the camp site, we check in and everything is fine. We pull up to our Cabins and the dog across from our cabins starts barking at us like crazy and the people were like oh don't worry he likes people just not other dogs, we had a little dog with us. The camp policy is you are not supposed to bring aggressive dogs and their dog was very aggressive. So we start unloading and one of our family members got on their dirt bike and road to the bathroom which was about 100 feet from us without his helmet and next thing you know a staff member in a silver truck was speeding to us and got out and started talking down to us in a very aggressive and demeaning way about the helmet policy. So we were starting to feel like we were not welcome there and the people across from us wouldn't talk to us and were always giving us dirty looks. We did notice that the camp staff would hang out with them for several hours throughout the day, so we just kept of ourselves and made the best of the weekend. Although there were numerous occasions when we were fishing in the pond and their kids would throw giant boulders in the water scaring all the fish away, and the mother would start laughing because she thought it was funny. But we never said anything, just went and did something else. Then to top it off on the final night it was pouring rain and I was getting all the ATV's strapped down so we can leave the next morning. I look up and I see my brother talking to someone and I had no idea who it was because I had not seen this person all weekend. It was the manager Gerry, we did not see him all weekend and the last time I talked with him he said he couldn't wait to meet me and he would show me around the camp, of course that didn't happen. The only reason he was there was because the people across from us made a complaint and said our kids were being mistreated. We were so confused at this point because the kids were laughing and having fun in the cabin while we were getting everything packed and ready to go. On top of all this the bathhouse was dirty and did not get cleaned all weekend. The trash was full and there was a toilet snake laying on the floor. We felt so targeted from the moment we arrived and were upset, we will never go back. read more

My family and I spent a week at Nature Wilderness Log Cabins. We extended our stay for an additional week. The accommodations were beautiful. The owner and his staff were extremely helpful. There was fishing, swimming, hiking, free boats, free game room. We had the best time and I highly recommend this Glamping Campground. read more

I had only been camping as a kid but this was no ordinary campground. Everything is brand new and the accommodations are phenomenal. We stayed in one of the log cabins with the high end furnishings, a/c, internet and tv. My daughter and I used the kitchen with all the comforts of home. We also barbecued and had meals with our neighbors which was pleasant. Scott and Gerry helped us tremendously - they bought us fire wood, set up our boats, provided directions to shopping nearby and showed us the historic sites of the property. I highly recommend this as a great family stay - it was a great vacation for me and my daughter. read more

Booked this as a long weekend away for our family and am beyond disappointed. This is about 10 years away from being a resort and is nothing like the website promises. We arrived for check-in, only to arrive to have to search for owner, by driving around the very unfinished property. We then called him and received no call back. The lady in the cabin next to us said I think that cabin is yours. I rented the cabin through VRBO and the description promised a swimming pool(there ia none), laundry(none), babysitting services(none)..etc. It will take too long to write what they don't have. The 2 cabins that are done are very nice and fully furnished with full size kitchen appliances. THIS IS NOT A RESORT AND YOU SHOULD NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY COMING HERE!!!! The owner is doing most of the work himself and can be seen driving a dump truck back and forth throughout the day....so if you want a resort come visit in 10 to 15 years when he should be half done! read more
