The first couple times we used Sitter4Paws we had a really great experience with the sitters that were assigned to our senior, diabetic cat. Last year, my mother unexpectedly passed away, and our regular cat sitter was unavailable for half of the trip home. We booked Sitter4Paws the second half of the trip, and let them know about the circumstances and requested sitters that had seen Jodie before so that we could rest easy during a very difficult time. Of course we know that can't always be accommodated due to scheduling, so for the first visit a new sitter came to see Jodie. On the evening of my mother's passing, we got a text from Sitter4Paws that the sitter felt he may have made a mistake with our cat's insulin dosage. It was revealed to us that instead of giving her her normal 2.25 unit dose, he gave her 22.5 units - ignoring the taped off/labeled syringes, our explicit written instructions in the app, and additional photos/diagrams of what a full syringe should look like. Thank god he realized his mistake, otherwise our cat would have slowly died alone in our apartment - and this would have happened immediately after losing my mom. I understand mistakes can happen, but the fact that a sitter was uncertain with potentially life-threatening medication if administered improperly and didn't even think to reach out to us first was quite shocking. Sitter4Paws took full responsibility, admitted their mistake, said they would take steps to make sure something like this would never happen again, and covered her 4 day ER stay, but it never should have gotten to that point. Again - we did have great sitters who took care of our cat wonderfully - but the uncertainty of who you can get especially with medication involved means that we can no longer recommend this service with confidence.

During a scheduled walk, the walker lost my house keys, which had my full address labeled on them. I was in therapy and unable to respond for about 30 minutes. When I did, I had to explain that the keys were labeled with my address; only then did the company bring up calling a locksmith. As a result, my 10-year-old dog was left outside with the walker for an hour, and would have been outside for much longer if a friend hadn't picked him up. It took 3 hours to resolve this issue. The company did pay for the locksmith, but communication was limited unless I initiated it in regard to status of the locksmith, and the owner said she would look for the keys but did not. I was also charged a cancellation fee on a separate day, despite explaining I cancelled because my grandmother had passed away and I had stayed home from work. They also charge $10 extra for "a late booking". Based on this experience and the safety concerns involved, I would not use this service again. The owner communicated with me respectfully but again my safety (single woman living alone) and my dog's safety were jeopardized - while the issue was resolved I'm shocked it happened in the first place. I'm sure this company delivers great services outside of this mistake but I can't keep this to myself as it was extremely upsetting and has NEVER happened in my 10 years of being a dog owner using multiple services.

Yvette not only takes amazing care of the kitties (brushes, feeds, plays with), she also sends text updates and photos while you are gone just as an added bonus. This last vacation one of my kitty's was on a crazy med regime for chin acne which included liquid antibiotics twice daily and mediated chin wipes. He hated that drama and I was so nervous to leave him. Yvette handled it like a pro, no problems at all. Lastly she always makes sure you notify her when arriving home, it is so comforting to know that our kitty sitter cares this much.

I find that finding a good cat sitter is hard, especially to find one that plays with the cats and spends time with them. Mike and Maya not only spent time with our babies, but they would send us photos and our cats were always in a good mood when we got home. It was clear they had not been 'abandoned' during our 2 week holidays abroad or our various shorter trips. Further, our cats are rather high maintenance, eat only wet food, and need 2 visits daily. Lilly is our "doghter" and it is very important that she be in good, kind, caring, hands - and that is Mike & Maya! Twice a week Maya comes to walk Lilly and give her dinner. Sometimes it's more often, depending on our busy work schedules - they are always accommodating and flexible. We've also had them stay overnight with Lilly when we traveled out of town. It is such a relief to know our Lilly is well cared for. We trust them completely, to be in our home. These guys go above and beyond. Once, my partner managed to get locked out (I don't even remember the story behind that), and Maya made a special trip to bring keys over. Another time, we ran out of dog food, and Maya stopped on her way and bought Lilly her favorite brand. They have even done a few last-minute requests to assist us when something unexpected comes along and impacts our schedules. I've lived in different locations and used different pet sitters over the past 10 years for Lilly. Honestly, there is something very special about Mike & Maya. They are like animal whisperers, and have come to feel like part of our family. You don't find service like this very often.
