It's like the seafood version of Willy Wonka's candy store: everything is delicious, be it pre-made or fresh. My favorites include their ahi, stuffed scallops, crab cakes, lobster, smoked mussels, and chowder. Really any choice is the right one, there is no losing here. I'm salivating just thinking about all of the happy meals my belly has felt due to this lovely establishment. A must visit if in the area.

On the cape on vacation I went to Nauset fish and lobster to get a few items for a fish stew I was making. It was a Wednesday and there were a few people looking over the lobsters (which are on display in a huge tank) and the fresh fish case. Everything was very fresh and they had an impressive selection of fish and shellfish to offer. The person who waited on me was very nice and patient with me (as I needed different amounts of 6 different seafood items). The freshness of the fish was totally worth the price. Yeah....I could have gotten some stuff at the supermarket but how long has it been sitting there? The fish here looked as if it were caught that day. They also offer to cook your lobster (might have to call ahead) which is a nice option. Overall a very good experience.

Some stellar fishmongers help supply the inventory at this clean seafood market. Lobster lobster lobster plus! Smashed in between the Lobster Claw and Sir Crickets Fish/Chips is this wonderful, albeit $$$, seafood market. As we had made the decision earlier in the day to hot tub, read, watch movies, play Settlers of Catan, and shop, came over here along the 6A and planned for an all out seafood fest. $10/lb for fresh,in-the-tank lobsters....we bought 2 totalling $60. The a full fresh filet of scrod, ahi tuna kabobs, half lb of prawns at $14/lb, and a whole 8" clam pie...along with some homemade tartar and a med container of clam chowder base.... Joined the queue and waited our turn for some super fresh maritime yummies--market sells all sorts of condiments...I.e. Cream for bisque, old bay spice, seasoning for any kind of seafood--even fresh, crusty bread and an alcohol case! Remember to freeze your lobsters for a bit before dunking them into the lobster pot to kill them humanely--they go into a comatose, slower state when cold.

Swordfish was so fresh and delicious. It was being cut when I arrived. Loved the thicker cut for grilling.

There are many fish markets on the Cape that do a fine job, but Nauset Fish & Lobster is my favorite.

I ended up with a half dozen Wellfleet oysters, which were substantial (2 year olds?), fresh, and briny -- exactly what you want in a Wellfleet. The only downside: They came with a lot of shell bits in the brine. I get that these oysters are hard to shuck since they have those rough, irregular shells (a result of being buffeted by the rough waves in this area). But I can do a better job when I have my good shucking knife on me and I am far from an expert shucker. A Caribbean fish soup / stew was also quite enjoyable, though my impolite and poorly-brought-up progeny made gagging noises when I opened up the container of soup in the car. I guess he thought it smelled unpleasantly fishy. :) He did quite enjoy a creme brulee we found in a refrigerated case in the market, however. Pleasant outdoor seating; delicious-looking menu (some of which isn't as ridiculously overpriced as it is in much of the Cape); pristinely fresh seafood; and super nice staff. But I was a little surprised by how long it took for us to receive the soup, which presumably had already been prepared, when it wasn't busy at all. (I think it took about 15 minutes!)

The hot lobster roll meat portions weren't amazing, lots of claw, but again personal preference. The chowder was very good. It had great flavor and there was a lot in it (potato's, clams, leeks). It was a little less creamy than some NE chowders. Picnic tables where they give you a number and bring you your food, so good for kids, dogs, casual eating.

On our way up the Cape for a little lighthouse-hopping adventure, we made a lunchtime stop at Cibo,…read moreand wow--this place is the real Italian deal. The second I walked through the door, I knew we were in for something authentic. The air was filled with the unmistakable smell of fresh sauce, garlic, and quality ingredients. The vibe? Warm, casual, and confidently no-frills in the best way. When my boyfriend's mom asked for mayo and was kindly offered a side of house-made marinara instead, we knew we had struck Italian gold. I ordered the Caprese panini, and while I didn't love the bread at first glance, it surprised me--it was light enough to let the real stars shine: creamy, fresh mozzarella and that incredible homemade pesto. I actually finished the whole sandwich (a rare feat when most leave me full of nothing but bread). My boyfriend (and his parents) devoured their sandwiches without a word, leaving only a few crumbs and a slightly smug expression. We also split an arancini ball for just $5--and it was hefty. Flavorful and golden, though the cheese inside could've used a bit more melt inside. Still worth it, especially at that price. Cibo offers both made-to-order paninis and a full spread of pre-prepared Italian dishes that looked straight out of Nonna's kitchen. Think: lasagna, pastas, cold salads, and a take-and-bake section with house-made pasta and sauces. The gourmet coffee bar smelled like heaven and used fresh ingredients--no plastic creamer pods in sight. Even the dessert case looked like it had stories to tell. Aside from some Cape Cod chips and bottled Coke, everything here felt distinctly and proudly Italian. This is a spot that knows exactly what it is and does it well. 10/10 would detour for this place again.
