Visited the Friendly Fisherman on a busy Tuesday night for the first time! Upon entry, we got in line to order and pay for dinner. There were plenty of picnic tables to pick from both in the front area of the restaurant or in the back, where we chose! One line at the register to order sort of slowed things down a bit but nothing too long. We were able to place our order and get seated at a back picnic table rather quickly! The rear of the restaurant is surrounded by stockade fencing for privacy, which was nice. Our food came rather quickly when we were alerted by the blinking disc. We had fish tacos, a full clam bellies plate, shrimp plate and a macaroni and cheese order along with 4 cokes. All 5 of us were satisfied with our food. I ordered the clam plate and i was hoping for a bit more clams but it was not the end of the world. The shrimp plate was excellent. The fish tacos were really good with plenty to eat! Alot of times the fish tacos do not amount to alot of food but this order certainly did! We all left very happy! The overall price was a bit high, but to be expected for July 4th weekend and Summer on the Cape! We were hoping for free refills of our soda but we were turned back at the register.....I thought everyone, these days, offer free refills...I guess not. Plenty of parking Good service Good food Little pricey

I ordered 1 clam belly dinner 1 lobster roll 1 clam chowder I picked the order up and the bill was over $80.00. That's so outta control. If that wasn't bad enough the kid and the register advised me to answer a few questions in the screen, I look down and it's asking me to leave a tip .. a tip for what ? What did he do for me ? It annoyed me so much I never want to go back.

Classic Cape Cod fried seafood and claw meat lobster rolls. You order at a counter and are signaled when your food is ready. The outdoor seating area is very kid-friendly and comfortable. Adults can bring wine or beer. The Scallop dinner had a generous portion of Scallops and was tasty.

The Friendly Fisherman is a seafood restaurant and fish market that opened in Eastham, Massachusetts in 1989. It was founded by husband and wife Michael and Janet Demetri. The restaurant serves fresh local seafood which is brought directly there from the fishermen. Their lobster rolls are their specialty; even TV chef Rachael Ray named it one of the best lobster rolls in Cape Cod. Michael sadly passed away from cancer in 2006. The Demetris' daughter Alana stepped in at that point and has slowly taken up more responsibility at the restaurant. She plans to completely take over the business once her mother retires. Before he passed away, Michael's motto was, "We serve large portions so no one leaves hungry." My wife, son and I visited the Friendly Fisherman for the first time last week while we were on a week-long family vacation in Cape Cod. We visited for lunch one afternoon. There was plenty of outdoor seating, a playground for children, and they even have a BYOB policy. Although Friendly Fisherman is known for their lobster rolls, we had just had some a couple of days before and wanted to try a different seafood dish. After scanning the menu, we decided to order the "Fisherman's Platter" (A fried seafood platter consisting of codfish, scallops, shrimp, whole clams, clam strips, fries and two sides of coleslaw). The menu said it serves 2-3 people, but the platter was HUGE!! We thought it could feed almost six people! Don't get me wrong, it was delicious, but we were only able to eat half of it. We took the rest back to our Airbnb and had it for dinner the following night. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Friendly Fisherman and would definitely return on a future trip to Cape Cod.

This is a drive by, do not stop. BEWARE Tourist Trap! $65.00 for a fisherman's platter and $3.75 for a small no refill soda. The platter comes with clam strips, egad, and consists of about 50% or more of french fries! The seafood was cooked well, not overcooked like a lot of these places, but the fish was not fresh, shrimp were most likely frozen, maybe it was all frozen. Save your hard earned dollars and dine elsewhere!

Soooo much moist, tasty lobster. Soooo good!

This review is based on the lobster roll as it was so much better than one from Arnold's. I enjoyed every bite and wished I could afford a 2nd one Lol. Looking at others' plates, was wishing we had more time to go back and try some of their fried offerings. Also enjoyed the beachy ambience which made for some cute photo ops with our canine companions.

Great lobster roll and my husband loved his fish and chips! Arnold's was closed and I am glad they were! Wonderful meal.

Living up to its name thr Friendly Fisherman is a nice, small seafood place and has outdoor dining (tables far apart now) and a playground (largely empty thanks to covid). More relaxed pace than other clam joints. Next to two ice cream places which is a bonus with mods.

Poor management, Raw Fish and Poor service: Having read the 'owners' response - to my post below -…read moreI further contend that this is not a well managed location for our very favorite Mac's restaurants for chowder and seafood. To be clear the fish was RAW, not medium rare, when I went back to let them know and when offered a new order I said that at this point I would just like a refund for the taco - not the whole $90 order as the 'owner' claims was my demand. To be clear, when I placed my order for the chicken tenders I asked for an adult portion not a child's portion, and if that meant I needed to order two children's portions then that was fine. I was given a child's portion, and apparently charged for a child portion - so the person at the window got my order wrong - and further, for the second time in several days an item (in this case the chowder)- was missing from our order. IWhen I went back the first time for the missing item and Valerie on the chicken tenders I did purchase an additional order and I did receive the missing chowder. I also let the manager know that I was not pleased with how he had handled that situation - telling me that 'these are "just kids" taking the orders and they make mistakes. I pointed out this was the second time in several days these very grown up 'kids' got my take out order incorrect. I did admittedly said "WTF" when the manager told me that under no circumstances would he refund for the raw food my son had been served, then he added that I was just "trying to get free food" - that in and of itself is outrageous. I was not cursing at the staff but rather dismayed at the manager's response - thus the one "WTF". AFter he accused me of 'just wanting to get free food" I used my best "teacher" and "stage" voice and projected for all to hear that I was not trying to get free food, but that I did not want to be served raw food. I was loud and clear. Once again, the ower's response illustrates poor management and poor oversight. Mistakes are made - I get that - but for goodness sake take some responsibility rather than attacking the customer and accusing them of wanting to get free food - utterly preposterous! And, have some kitchen oversight so that fish that should be cooked is not served RAW. You have a good thing, take care of it! RAW Tuna Taco (not Sushi), Very Poor Service, NO accepting of responsibility, VERY poor customer care/response by manager/staff = negative 5 or more stars!: For two different take out orders they got my order wrong. missing parts of the order or not hearing the order correctly. Then when I returned they were like "no problem- give me more money and I can fix your situation. The manager I spoke with in the second occassion was not satisfactory. Love the food / but the service is NOT good. And the response to the customer is dreadful. PS If I could give negative stars I would. We have always loved Mac's for its food (particularly the chowder) and fresh fish - although I also loved getting my fish at the Friendly fisherman. But the service and food, coupled with your service several days ago (see previous review), leaves me saying that we will say goodbye to Mac's until they address the staff issues (manager, as well as those taking the orders) and the quality of their food. Today, after getting my order wrong, which I went abck to get the missing items after getting home, I returned home again with the chowder they had left out only to have my son say that his fish tacos (Tuna) were raw. They were truly raw. When I returned to the store to tell them, the state person at the window said they did not like to overcook the fish b/c people complain. I said I understood that but what I am talking about is raw fish served to my son. She got the manager. When I addressed the issue with him, he said they'd get me another order but I'd need to wait 15 min. I said I really did not want the order, I would look a refund for the inedible food. He said he would not do that, powered, hard stop, and then added I was just trying to get 'free food' at which point I said an exasperated WTF - which prompted him to tell me to stop using profanity. When I asked for the phone number for the health department he told me I'd have to look that up on my own. When I originally said I was not happy they had messed up a take out order on two separate occasions - he pointed to his staff and said, why 'these are just kids' - all of them were over 21 and most well over 21. The manager needs to do a better job of working with their customers, protecting the 'brand', and managing the staff. RAW food??? Multiple messed up orders??? Sopmeone is not doing their job well - and in the case of serving raw fish - this could have health implications for my son, and others. The thing that really bothers me is that there is no accepting of responsibility for simple mistakes, and the idea I was accused of 'just trying to get free food' - WTF ......(again)....... *sigh*

My family has been buying fresh lobster and fish from this location for years, but had never eaten from their menu on-site. Man, have we been missing out. I've just finished the best Oyster Po Boy I've ever had...and I've been fortunate enough to eat them all over the country. My son had a lobster roll that was so large and so good, I had to remind him to breathe in between bites. And my wife enjoyed her scallop roll so much, all she could say, repeatedly, was "this is my new favorite place." Once we'd finished, we got to meet the owner Bradley. He's a scallop fisherman who brings freshies in every morning at 4AM, which would explain my wife's reaction to the scallop roll. And then we met his partner Alex, who spent 15 years in New Orleans, which would explain the incredible Oyster Po Boy. Props too, to all of the staff at this place...especially the guys in the kitchen who manage to smile and wave despite the fact that they're moving fast and getting amazing food out the door. We'll definitely be headed back, probably tomorrow.

There are multiple different seating options, everything from an outdoor patio to high top bar seats, tables, and the indoor booth seating which is what we selected. The dining room is comfortable, and with open windows it provided a nice breath of fresh air. We started with the seafood sampler, a wonderful combination of fresh and delicious shellfish (clams, oysters, shrimp and a lobster tail). We then split appetizers instead of entrees, having the tuna tartare and the Chatham mussels, both of which were excellent. There was some minor room for improvement - after we were done with our seafood sampler, we sat for about 10 minutes while our server Danielle seemed to be in an enthusiastic conversation with Caroline out in front of the restaurant. It provided for some interesting dinner theater, but with so many other employees standing around, it probably would have been an ideal opportunity for somebody else to chip in and take over. Also, the mussels came in a wonderful wine / garlic sauce - some bread would have been a thoughtful addition to soak up that wonderful broth. Fortunately the quality of the food and the vibe of the restaurant more than compensated for a couple of service issues - we visited in late May, so hopefully by the time this restaurant hits the busy season, they'll have the issues worked out. Overall, I would certainly not hold back from referring this restaurant.
