No wait to order, and the food took maybe about 5 minutes to come out while it was being made. On my 2 visits I ordered sandwiches: a Turkey Reuben (my favorite of the 2) and a Corned Beef Pastrami Reuben, both with Russian dressing, Swiss cheese, and sauerkraut. Each came with fries, coleslaw, and a dill pickle. The portions were on point -- definitely a lot of food for the price -- and the quality really stood out. Everything tasted fresh and well put together, and the menu has a really big selection, which is always a plus. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the place itself was very clean. Noise level was moderate, lighting was good with a mix of natural and fluorescent light. There is seating available, but from what I've seen, most people grab their food and go. The location is convenient too, sitting right around the corner from Annapolis High School. Overall, I don't really have anything negative to say -- I like it just how it is. I've already recommended it to several people and would definitely come back again. This place is a gem.

Having said that, it was pretty well run and after waiting in line I found two registers waiting and was able to order a variety of baked goods and a fresh sandwich, which were prepared for me quite speedily. I wouldn't expect to be in and out immediately at peak times, but for me it was maybe forty-five minutes to wait in line, get food, and eat my sandwich. They offer good options for special dietary needs. The vegan sandwich is based on Old Bay marinated tofu, and they are not kidding about that. It is really, really Old Bay flavored. The tomato and avocado livens things up, but honestly the best part of the sandwich was still the sourdough bread, which is fair enough for a bakery. The spread of pastries I acquired was resplendent in quality and variety, and I will be happy to continue trying out all the Black Market locations to see which one is the most convenient.

The efficiency from start to finish was amazing. The breakfast sandwich was awesome. The sourdough bread was perfect and all of the ingredients were really fresh. The presentation of the assembled and packaged sandwich was a ten. Though so many menu items looked delicious, I had to try the oatmeal cream pie- it was amazing. The cookies were buttery and soft. The cream filling was soft and sweet. I would definitely return for another breakfast sandwich.

The place is incredibly clean, nicely decorated, and just welcoming. I was seated promptly, and my waitress recommended the Irish stew, which is what I went with. She also recommended a very tempting tasting flight, and I'm not going to admit to enjoying that while on lunch break. I'm not denying it. I'm just not admitting it. The stew was fantastic and really hearty. It warmed me up almost as much as the flight of... tea did. I couldn't resist getting dessert. The bread pudding was delicious and worth going back for on it's own.

My wife saw they had black bean soup and a pork special, so we decided to stay and were seated. Since our last visit about a year ago, they've made some changes. The seating has been updated, with a second bar added along with high-top tables and booths. The space looks very nice. Our server came over, took our drink order, and we asked for a bowl of the black bean soup. When he returned, my wife asked how the pork special was, and he said it was very good, so she ordered it. I ordered the cod fish and chips. When the food came out, everything looked good at first. Unfortunately, the fish and chips were very greasy -- it seemed like the fries were placed on the plate to soak up the grease from the fish. My wife's pork dish was worse. She was given two slices with connective tissue running through them that were so tough she couldn't even get a fork into them. The other piece was also extremely tough and difficult to cut, and the gravy had no flavor. When our server finally came back to check on us, my wife showed him the pork. His response was simply that he would let the manager know and take it off the bill. There was no offer to replace the dish or bring her something else to eat. After that, we never saw him again. My wife eventually asked another server for tea, which a different server brought. Later, another server came by to see if we were finished. I asked how much the eggnog was, and she quoted the price for a bottle, said I just want a glass, she said I'll get you a menu I explained to another waitress I just wanted a glass. Eventually, I got it -- though I asked for it without ice, and it still came with ice. At that point, I just drank it. The best thing was the bean soup. Overall, this was not a good meal and honestly the worst experience we've had in the 10+ years we've been coming here. Between the food quality and the lack of follow-up from our server, it was very disappointing. It will be quite a while before we return.

We had a server, Michael, that we have had before and he is excellent. FW culture on their website states 'You First' meaning putting others before yourself. Michael could not put his customers before himself because his management did not do the same for him. They failed him. He was required to work the bar making drinks, attending to the patrons sitting at the bar plus some four tops in the general area of the bar. That's typically his normal section. This time he was waiting on booths, where we were sitting plus a group of 12 (12!) seated after us. Michael was swamped and there no way he could keep up. He had no support from other employees and it was obvious they did not have enough servers (they had a bunch of bus people, mostly standing around). The floor was chaos and not once did I see a manager come out to access and help. Our food came out piece meal with items missing. We knew we were not getting refills because at that point Michael's total concentration was getting food and drink orders from the 12 top and making drinks. Michael came by and was extremely apologetic and we assured him it was not his fault. We all used to work in the business and knew where the fault fell. Management! As we exited there were numerous open tables with at least 20 people waiting to be seated. We were glad to get out of the chaos. I sent a review through First Watch's internal comment section but was ghosted hence the Yelp review. Annapolis has many breakfast choices (with more on the way) and I don't think we will be back anytime soon.

A quick check on OpenTable and I saw the Bistro at South River was only a few miles down Rt 2 from my hotel. A quick review of their menu and figured I'd give it a try. The Bistro at South River is located inside a golf community. I was expecting it to be at the clubhouse, but instead it was a stand alone restaurant just inside the gate. I went in and sat down at the bar. I ordered the wedge salad and a burger. The wedge was very large and smothered in bleu cheese and bacon. The burger was a good size and tasted good. It came with Old Bay fries that were OK, although I didn't much Old Bay flavor. The price was on the higher side, but not too bad. All together it was an good meal, but nothing special.

Nice deck and view, inside appointed nicely. Cons: Waitress was average, but nervous. Restaurant was not busy, but did have a special party going on in an adjacent room. The prices were very high - entree's were $30 + and had the manager been more attuned to the needs of the guest and not just one couple with too many kids running around the restaurant like they owned it - we may have enjoyed the evening more. Review: We chose to go there on a Friday evening, knowing that in general they are not a very crowded venue and we wanted a quieter atmosphere than you get at most casual dining venues. On arrival we were asked if we would like to sit outside on the deck and we agreed. Though we had see the 5-6 kids ranging in age from 5 - 10 running and playing hide and seek outside the restaurant we never guessed they would continue their game on the deck with their parents watching them. After a few minutes of dealing with that noise we asked to be moved inside. Within 10 minutes of moving the kids were inside running around and then chose to sit in the booth behind us by themselves - getting up and down, arguing and generally playing with the utensils at the table. We noted this to the wait staff with no response beyond - I'm sorry. We put up with it more and finally as dinner was ending the manager arrived at the table and cheerfully asked how everything was. I told him of our disappointment with the disrespect of the children in the facility and he simply said- Sorry, we can't really do the parenting. No offer of any kind to make up for the discomfort of ourselves - with a bit of attitude. And you wonder why the place is empty on a Friday night. Way overpriced for the food, service and without any attempt to put the consumer first. Have used this place for special group events - but maybe not again.
