We eat at First Watch whenever my son comes to town (about 5-6 times a year). Our experiences have been pretty good until Sunday. We had a server, Michael, that we have had before and he is excellent. FW culture on their website states 'You First' meaning putting others before yourself. Michael could not put his customers before himself because his management did not do the same for him. They failed him. He was required to work the bar making drinks, attending to the patrons sitting at the bar plus some four tops in the general area of the bar. That's typically his normal section. This time he was waiting on booths, where we were sitting plus a group of 12 (12!) seated after us. Michael was swamped and there no way he could keep up. He had no support from other employees and it was obvious they did not have enough servers (they had a bunch of bus people, mostly standing around). The floor was chaos and not once did I see a manager come out to access and help. Our food came out piece meal with items missing. We knew we were not getting refills because at that point Michael's total concentration was getting food and drink orders from the 12 top and making drinks. Michael came by and was extremely apologetic and we assured him it was not his fault. We all used to work in the business and knew where the fault fell. Management! As we exited there were numerous open tables with at least 20 people waiting to be seated. We were glad to get out of the chaos. I sent a review through First Watch's internal comment section but was ghosted hence the Yelp review. Annapolis has many breakfast choices (with more on the way) and I don't think we will be back anytime soon. read more

I've been to the Bowie location several times but this was my first visit at the Annapolis location. I wanted something hearty so I had the steak & eggs hash. It's a combination of steak, roasted mushrooms, onions, mozzarella, spinach, and potatoes topped with eggs, and Parmesan cream sauce. It was yummy in my tummy. I added a little salt and pepper on the eggs because they weren't seasoned, but nothing else in the dish lacked flavor. Steak for breakfast isn't usually my go to, but after having this dish, maybe it will be. To wash it down, I had the purple haze. It's basically lemonade with butterfly pea tea (it turns the drink purple) & lavender. I love a pretty, purple mocktail. For dessert, I had a cinnamon bun sprinkled with gold sprinkles I think. It looked really pretty but it was disappointing. The roll was really dry and a little hard. I only had one bite. read more

I met a friend this morning at this location of First watch. I have visited other locations in MD & VA, with mixed impressions. I was pleased with how bright the space was, with lots of comfortable booth seating. Our server was friendly and helpful; the coffee came immediately and our food came out promptly. This review will focus on a couple of factors that are not always important to others: budget and calories. I find many fancy breakfast places are geared to fancy, high calorie options that can make a dent in both the waistline and the wallet. First Watch is no exception--if you have no limitations, they have lots of delicious options. (I did see things like raspberry French toast go by that looked spectacular.) However, today, I did not want to spend a fortune to meet a friend for coffee, and I did not want to consume a days worth of calories at breakfast. (They do have healthy choice options on their menu but they seemed like more than I needed today). So I chose two items off of the sides menu. The bowl of cheese grits were a decent size portion, and they were delicious. The bowl of mixed fresh fruit was also delicious, and it was actually more than I could eat. But the two items, along with their good coffee (they leave a carafe on the table), was a great start to the day. I had such a wonderful time here. Santsoh Upreti, the General Manager made sure that I had the best experience. I was greeted properly, no wait and I was seated promptly. Mike, only the best server ever, took great care of my guest and I. The drinks were strong, the food was served fresh and hot, just like I like it. The Trifecta menu option with a side of Millionaire Bacon was perfect for my Sunday Brunch. The atmosphere was so relaxing and I love the outdoor patio ambience. This restaurant can be good. The menu can be confusing and a mixed bag open to manipulation. This is a brunch restaurant sort of directed towards Miss Shirleys. While my Chorizo breakfast bowl was good, someone apparently ate the chorizo. My waffles were pretty good, and my partner apparently was confused. Our waiter stated out with the lackadaisical you isn't gonna tip but improved as time went on. So, they are looking for a particular clientele. I imagine some people would love this restaurant, but we just wanted breakfast. If you can make it work, great! read more

This place is horrible. Came for breakfast and it took 10 minutes to get our coffee. Seriously? My girlfriend had the soup and sandwich and I had the chikichanga was OK,not bad , but the broccoli cheese soup was absolutely horrible. TIP: the booths by the window can be cold in winter. What I really loved about this location was that they had a "breakfast bar". This was an area in the back with about five or six stools kind of like a counter at a diner. I didn't try it on this visit, but I think it would be perfect for solo diners. This First Watch is an end store in the shopping center. It is clean and comfortable. Service is good. I've tried just about everything at this location, but my old standby is our morning meditation, and a quinoa ball. This location is worth trying. read more

This morning I ordered breakfast like I usually do for us from First Watch but I accidentally clicked "pick up" instead of delivery and I was home alone with two young children with no way of picking up my order... I called the restaurant and told them about my mistake. They let me know they couldn't change the order to delivery because it's an automated service offered by DoorDash (not them)... BUT the manager said not to worry and said she would deliver the food herself! Sure enough, 10 minutes later she was at my doorstep. 10/10 customer service. Disappointing. We waited a long time to order our food. Server (not his fault) came out 20 min after we ordered our food to say that one of the entrees wasn't available, the kitchen had just let him know. Then they almost immediately delivered the other 3 entrees, and we didn't get the 4th person's food for at least another 10 minutes. And then didn't remove it from the bill. I have so many questions. I think my fav part was when they presented me with the bill with default tip of 18%, 22%, and 25%. Um. No. Absolutely tipped the waiter, again not his fault, but this was horrible. This location is larger than the one I go to in bowie. The food took longer to come out than the Bowie location. Nice location and has plenty of seating. They don't show on the menu but they do offer the million dollar bacon at this location. Waitress was really nice and attentive, I wish they had a platter with pancakes/ French toast and breakfast meat. It's a La carte basically. Thank goodness the prices are so reasonable! Plenty of parking. Join the wait list it just makes sense too. read more

I've been to First Watch near me numerous times. This particular location had awful customer service. When I arrived, the host looked right past me as if I didn't exist, then wrang someone else up at the register. At that moment, I decided to get my order to go. Another young lady came forward to take my to go order. When I returned to get my order, it had no cutlery. I asked for some, she said "we're all out. Sorry." Then she left the building. I guess it was time for her to clock out ‍. But then I was stuck trying to find a fork and knife to eat pancakes in my car. Very disappointing experience. First visit. I ordered eggs, turkey gravy w/biscuits, & grits. I don't know anywhere else where I can have biscuits and gravy and the meat is turkey. Thank you First Watch! I had the raspberry French toast to go. I love the many options on the menu, especially since I don't eat pork or beef. I didn't care for the grits but everything else was very good. 3.5 stars- I had been to the first watch in TX, but wanted to try this new location in Annapolis! I was excited about this new brunch restaurant because there aren't many options in Annapolis. We joined the online waitlist (and thank goodness we did-the wait was insane) and waited about an hour on a Sunday morning. Once we ordered, the food didn't come for about 45 minutes. They were very short staffed-there were a handful of open tables that were not being used. They brought out my brother and moms food but said my dish got messed up so they had to remake it, and they took it off our tab (which was nice). Once the food came, it was okay. My brother loved his skillet, but the eggs benedict and sandwich was average. Cute restaurant, but definitley took too long for what we got. read more

How do you think the scammers for your number in the first place. "Hello, your vehicles extended warranty is about to expire...!" VC money will only take a project so far. After that runs out, they sell your data, your phone number, to data brokers who then sell it to scammers. Never give out your number to anyone who doesn't really need it. So, I believe that the owner had all of the best intentions when he/she opened this location but obviously they need help! Pro's- The servers are so nice, specifically Mrs.Lynne. They are really trying but have many obstacles in their way. Con's- Logistically, they're not optimizing the space efficiently. I'm not sure if it's because they are understaffed or don't have a strong Front of the house leads. This leads to long waits, unused tables. Training- I understand that it is hard to find good people, but I observed waitstaff not check on individuals and cold food. The table next to we complained about their food being cold too. My husband told the waitress that he was allergic to mushrooms, but his omelet arrived with mushrooms. read more

Came here for lunch with the girls. Enjoyed some fruity orange and beet and tumeric drink along with a kale drink that was very earthy. We started with the million dollar bacon slabs. Holy moley, little spicy, little sweet and overall a 10/10. Enjoyed a parfait granola bowl which had a great selection of fruit atop it. I will def be back for that bowl again. Verdict: Unless you are a retiree with unlimited time or looking for poor service, go somewhere else! There's so many restaurants nearby. PROs - I was a fan of First Watch because of the great experience I had at the Woodbridge, VA location, so I decide to go to the Annapolis location. (That was a mistake.) CONs: - POOR service. I waited at the hostess counter while three servers finished telling what they thought was a funny story and did not even acknowledge me initially. I then asked if I could sit at the bar and was told "Sure". I then sat at the counter while servers walked around and never even made an effort. After several minutes of being ignored, I walked out and went to Denny's 0.3 miles away - and had one of the best experiences at Denny's I have ever had. I had a hot American Slam in front of me 5 minutes after ordering! - This First Watch location definitely has an older, elderly clientele.
