Still seeing this gem of a doctor- twenty years later. My little one is in her first year of public school and with that has come lots and lots of germs. I have been getting sick since September but after Thanksgiving, I havent been feeling quite myself and on top of sinusitis, bronchitis, and the flu, I have been suffering from ear pain. I went to countless Urgent care facilities for them to tell me nothing is wrong with my ears. I went to the dentist as my teeth were also hurting and I should have known.... Dr Mehta is such an amazing doctor! I was praying for a solution to my nasal issues, and he booked me for surgery, and fixed my nasal problems. I came to him with trouble breathing through my nose. He did some exams and tests to finally determine I had a deviated septum and overgrown cartilage in my nose, for which he booked me for a surgical procedure to correct. I was terrified of surgery, but Dr. Mehta set my mind at ease and helped me through the process. The surgery was not as scary as I expected, because of this caring doctor. Dr. Mehta is great, but his office admin is a mess and it is near impossible to contact him. I am a current patient scheduled for surgery next month, but I cannot get in touch with the office through phone or email (and they have no electronic portal or anything "high tech" like that). I cannot even return a call I received from them, because they don't answer the phone, their voicemail is broken (has been for at least a year), and they have not acknowledged any emails that I've sent. I don't know what else I could even do, so I am leaving this review to warn others, as I start the process to find another doctor. Besides this, Dr. Mehta was kind, seems very competent, and takes insurance. But that doesn't matter if you can't contact him. read more

Dr. Mehta is truly amazing! I'm seen with such care each visit and I'm in and out within 30 minutes.

Started off great with him, but then I noticed that my ear service wasn't like before! He would check my throat, eyes and ears but now he just check my throat and ears and clean my ears which is great. But now my ear is itching very bad and he claimed I had ear infection and gave me ear drops that I told him doesn't work. I told him that I needed the oil base ear drops and a antibiotic to clear the infection up with in the ear and he never send it but he charged my coverage for it. I really liked him as a doctor but now the service is very lazy and horrible. No more TLC he once gave us. read more

I have been going to Dr. Mehta for over 10 years & my mom even longer. He takes urgent appts and did so for me the other day when I couldn't fight my ear pain any longer post-flight. He prescribed me the correct medications that I needed to take for 10 days and I kid you not within 2 dosages (1 that evening and 1 the next morning), my pain dramatically decreased! Dr. Mehta is professional & answers questions very open & honest. This is all I care for when I see a doctor. Also, I should note I was not charged some exorbitant copay like others said & I was here in Spring 2018. read more

Dr. Mehta was a big disappointment. I was referred to him from my general physician regarding severe GERD. I'd had gone to an ENT about five years prior whilst living in CT, where I received great treatment and care. After waiting in Dr. Mehta's office for 2.5 hours before being seen, and having to deal with the testy front desk women, he was incredibly brief and not interested. He pretty much told me I was too young to have a real issue with GERD and it's usually a male's disease (not what I want to hear, I want my problem helped)! He sent me for what my gastro calls and 'incredibly crude test that really shows no results.' He never calls me to discuss the results and when I call him, he quickly tells me 'everything is normal.' While I'm very happy there isn't anything more serious going on, I still need help with this matter and he's provided me with no insight, and only neglect. When i said this to him, he said to go see a gastro and hangs up. I have to say I've never felt less paid attention too from a healthcare provider. And after ruining an afternoon waiting in his cramped office and $100+ later for visits, I will never recommend this doctor. read more

Dr. Mehta is amazing, but his receptionist was the rudest person I have ever encountered. So my rating is about the overall experience, not the doctor. The receptionist was so brusque and snarky I almost left, but decided to wait it out since the Dr. has gotten such good reviews. I should have been more worried when I saw on the sign in sheet that three other people were slotted in for the same appointment time as me (for one doctor) and that there were 15 people in the waiting room! I bet medicare and medicaid reimburse them for how many patients they can pack in per day so they quadruple book every ten minute slot. I waited 1.5 hrs, which was made much worse by the loud static interspersed with occasional blasts of horrible christmas music ever thirty seconds or so. The horrible nurse kept calling this poor Chinese grandma in a walker up to the desk every five minutes for different forms and questions. Each time, it took her five minutes to get up and then sit back down. The nurse would have had to walk exactly two feet to give her the form while she was still sitting. Painful to watch. Just a miserable, soul sapping experience. Even though I really liked the doc and he was patient in answering all my questions, I am going to find another ENT so I don't have to go through that again! read more

PLEASE, posters, stop whining about the phones! just come in at 730 on days he is present if you are feeling poorly. he takes walk ins because he knows you can't wait a month for relief from bronchitis. expect to wait kind of a while, even if you are the only one there. it's just the way it is. he is phenomenal so he's worth the wait. read more

dr. mahta is adequate, but worse is his office staff. They are a bunch of idiots. I just was put on hold for 25 minutes and I still cannot get through to make an appointment. This is no way to run an office. as for medical care, he is probably a good dr, but the waits are always too long and your visits are equally as short. You are allotted 30 minutes, but you are generally in and out in under 10...and there is never any conversation. oh, and they don't renew scrips over the phone. if he did, he would lose the $20 co-pay. Mehta office is the worst. My first visit he took my consultation plus $200.00 for service I did not know what he was going to do. He order a CT scan, he said he would call with the results, 2 weeks and did not called. I called he said I have deviated septum and I need to go into his office to discuss what we would. I have to do surgery because my nose is 95% blocked. We agree I will come in at Friday 4pm. No a familiar neighborhood I was about 20 mins. late. As soon as I walked the lady at the front I cannot see you because I was late. I said 20 mins. She said your appointment was 3:35. I was so disappointed, I cried and begged for him to look at me, I thought I would get some help with this doctor after seeing so many ENTs. I thought he was the best, I praised him so much not realizing he is the worst only to make money. I eventually see another ENT who said nothing is wrong with my Nose and refer my to a Neurologist. I think these doctors are working as a group because the Alergist Mehta reffered me to, I had to wait about an hour before being seen so I asked to be seen quickly, I had to go back to my job. They are taking more patient than they can look at. So Mehta did not look at me because I was late after giving me a different appointment time. I think this all a revenge. The receptionists all need to be fired and replaced at this place. It is impossible to make an appointment. The phone rings and rings and then they hang up on you. My doctor did a referral but I could never make an appointment because no one ever answers the phone. So I found another proper doctor's office and had her do another referral. My rating is 0 for Dr. Mehta's practices as the office is running with chaotic/illegitimate policies. Again this is my opinion, everyone can make their own call. I felt the calling to sharing this information so other folks don't end up in situations like I did or some other people did who wrote reviews on Yelp. I felt being taken advantage of and the doctor's office running illegitimate and unethical doctor practices. I will file complaint with the medical board also but wanted to start here for broader outreach. At that time, I LEFT Doctor's office! On the time of check-in, Dr. Mehta's admin staff claimed that I will be charged $200+ fee upfront for some procedures that may or may not happen (I was there only to show my CTI scan report as per my PCP) since many insurances don't cover these procedures and even if they do it goes towards patient's deductible which people don't pay or don't pay easily. Reasoning is completely understandable but for such cases all other doctor offices call the insurance up ahead of time to find out if the procedures are covered in insurance or need deductibles and if the patient's deductible are already paid off or not.. If doctor's staff doesn't have time for that then why the new patients are NOT told about this at the time of appointment call instead of being imposed/rushed at the check-in time when they are at the doctor's office after changing their entire schedule/day around it. Again my subjective opinion - Doctor's are here to help people besides making money NOT making money off of people's ignorance created by doctor's unknown policies. read more

I found Dr. Mehta extremely helpful. He took his time with me, ran a number of tests, and sent me to an audiologist for a more thorough examination. The wait time is ridiculous (at 8 AM I counted 11 people in the wait room even though there is only one doctor) and Marisol, the receptionist, is shockingly rude, but Dr Mehta himself is great. read more

By far Dr. Mehta is one of the most professional, most qualified and most compassionate physicians I have ever been to. He has been my ENT for 26 years now. He has performed 2 sinus surgeries on me and has saved my life numerous times when I have been ill. The last time he directed me to a pulmonologist who immediately confirmed his diagnosis of pneumonia which required hospitalization. He is an incredible diagnostician and has been right on in treatment for me. I have recurring sinus difficulties and through his treatment, I get better. When you go to his office there is a wait. Be prepared by bringing a book to read. Yes it might be a long wait, but this is a doctor who is worth the wait. He takes care of you and you leave his office knowing you are going to get better. The doctor is great but the front desk service is not good at all. They never sent my prescription to my pharmacy and I live far away from NYC I only come for work, so the day I needed my prescription they never sent the order to my drug store and they closed the clinic earlier so they could never be reached by phone. I had to spend four days without my medicine because I don't live in the city and I could not change the drugstore since I had already given the NYC address. Yes there is a long Waite and very busy office but he is very good of what he does. I suffered from sinus infection for many years and saw so many ENT with no result . I red a bout him in New York times and went to see him as soon as he looked at my MRI he said that I need surgery. 2 week after I had the surgery done with excellent result. Dr Metha is very polite,serious, fast, confident and does not chit chat with the patients but he is one of the top ENT in the country and knows his stuff. If you are looking for a Dr to see you right away ,spend lot of time and socialize with no result then Dr Metha is not for you. read more

About 13 years ago, there was a friend in the family whose wife suffered from severe Tinnitus. This man took his wife everywhere and no one could do anything for her or find a cure. Then, he said that he found Dr. Navin Mehta and that he solved the issue that no other doctor could. I kept that in the back of my head. 13 years forward, I find myself in that situation. My husband is now suffering from Tinnitus. Hence, I remembered that name, thus about three months ago I told my husband to go see this guy. I had my hopes up; for I thought he was the best...guessed again. The guy has become a Dutch bag. He is only interested in the co-payments and will not see you but after you has waited 45-1.5 hours. The staff never has anything ready. He is so money driven. Apparently he changed, and so has his approach. He has no compassion, does not follow up, and obviously will not answer anything over the phone as this will result in him losing the co - pay. He put my husband through a series of tests, that all resulted in nothing. My husband is faring badly and his situation has worsened since seeing that guy. The staff there does not even seem to comprehend English well. I love curry, but not in an office. I am so mad. I love my husband and only God knows how uncomfortable it is to be in his situation. I sent him there for him to get better not WORSE. They even made him pay higher co-pay by playing stupid. My husband wrote a letter hence they could reimburse him back the money they shouldn't have charged him in the first place, and do you think we got a response??? I am beyond words. What is it with NYC and doctors? Why are they only thinking about the money? I know we all need to make money, but I have been in situation where I could have benefited inmensely by cheating people, and my heart and conscience would never allow me to do such a thing. I am also a professional in the field of finance, but that does not give me the right to cheat people who may not know about finance and investments the way I do. Why become a doctor, a person that is in charge of any aspect of your health, if caring for someone's health is the last thing on your mind? Though the Dr. was very pleasant, my experience there was rather negative. I was taken an hour late...but most importantly, upon sign in, they collected my co-pay plus $200. I had not been seen by the doctor at this point, yet they were claiming they were collecting money upfront for procedures that might take place. What doctor's office does this? The Dr. ended up washing out my ears and vacuuming them dry. I called back today to say that this practice of claiming money before I'd even been seen feels like I'm being taken advantage of. My insurance company said that this is definitely not standard practice and that the office is not supposed to do this. They are supposed to file a claim with the insurance provider first, and then a bill will go out. I'm very frustrated with this office's practices and it does not seem legitimate to have people pay for a service before the doctor even knows what that service is!! read more

Dr. Mehta has treated me for decades now. I first consulted him needing surgery because of nose/breathing problems. He was recommended by a professional singer who told me that other singers 'sang his praises.' My appointment with Dr. Mehta was a disaster. My newborn son had failed multiple hearing tests at birth and my pediatrician recommended Dr. Mehta. I didn't read reviews, I made an appointment immediately. First of all, Dr. Mehta double, triple, quadruple books patients!! I work in a medical office, and that is a BIG no no. Secondly, you would think that they would have taken my son first, since he was a 6 week old baby, right? You would be wrong. We were dead last. I waited 1 hour and 45 minutes to be seen, with a screaming baby. Thirdly, when I made my appointment, I mentioned that my son was a newborn, but after waiting 1h45m, I was told they do not do exams on babies. I was FURIOUS. Then, wouldn't you know, someone just happened to find the right equipment for babies, in the back of a closet somewhere... The test was done, and I was told my son could hear just fine. Oh, except for one thing: the report that Dr. Mehta faxed to my pediatrician clearly states that my son failed his hearing test. This guy is a lawsuit waiting to happen... read more

Are you in a hurry? Then this doctor who spends a minute at most looking in your ears, nose and throat is the one for you. After he leaves in a big hurry, his assistant will come in and do the hard work. You won't see the doctor again unless you bump into him rushing out the door. He has an active insurance, medicare, medicaid business which probably pays for all the plaques he has in his office. Before you leave, you get a consolation prize - a coupon for an antibiotic! What, you didn't think you had an infection? Well enjoy the antibiotic anyway - you're not paying full price for it (over $150!) Use the difference to find a REAL doctor! read more

Dr Mehta has been my doctor for 20 plus years. He is a very caring and compassionate doctor who has always treated me with respect and has always solved my medical issues. The problem is his STAFF,they are very rude at times his office double and triple books (they say its Dr Mehta who tells them to do that and to complain to him.)
