Loved my experience at NEX salon! Kristine did a great job on my hair color! She suggested highlights. I have dark hair and in the past I have had harsh orange highlights from other high end salons. The color is a nice dark brown with subtle highlights. I really like it! Kristine shaped my hair and explained why she was cutting the way she did. What a talented person! Then Suzanne colored my 93 year old mother's hair. Suzanne did an excellent job too! She was patient with my mom. I appreciated that. I can't believe I've been coming here for almost 4 years but have never reviewed this place. When I first called for an appointment, I asked the receptionist for a recommendation and she referred me to Christine. I am so grateful for that recommendation. Christine is a wonderful stylist. She is meticulous and always does a great job. She's very good about reminding me to use my scratcher, when they are available, in order to get a discount. Christine is also very generous. She's always plying me with food, drinks, and other goodies that she has on hand. I get embarrassed to accept them, but she won't take "no" for an answer. Lol. If you're looking for a new stylist, I highly recommend Christine! Just be warned that she's usually 10 minutes late. If a client comes in late, she doesn't rush, and because I like to be punctual, I always have to wait. read more

It's so hard to find a stylist that you can trust, especially for hair color. Let me say my hair was "virgin hair" natural and untouched. I wanted to turn it completely different so I went blonde! I wanted someone that paid attention to what I wanted and I found her. Lanette is that person. She was so attentive and I love how she gave me choices and told me how to take care of my new do! Rosita gave me a wonderful shampoo experience, a really pretty haircut (it's been years since I've been able to say that) and a fabulous blowout. I've heard they have great stylists, but only go there if you have a personal recommendation. Do NOT take just any random stylist. My normal stylist (at another salon) was booked and I needed a quick trim as I had to go to the mainland with no notice. I let my stylist know that due to a medical condition my hair grows very slowly and I only wanted a little trimmed off. We agreed on half an inch. Over 3 inches was cut off, when i got home I had to cut off long chunks that were missed, and I effectively look like an 8 year old again. But it wasn't all bad... this woman did provide me with some humor. Instead of using her hand to move my chair, she would use her belly to spin me around. No, I'm not kidding. read more

Republishing, they have two accounts: I came in for lash extensions since the price was great. First thing I experienced is the scheduling is tricky because they only have one lady that does it so flexibility is needed. Second is that their method is different than from other lash places. They do the glue underneath the lashes instead of over and they do three-set lashes instead of individual ones. I usually can make my extensions last a month but for this set I wanted to take them off after a week because the bigger glue clumps were heavy and bumpy for me. I stuck it out for two weeks but after that I couldn't do it anymore. The lady said it could only last two at the time, after it would be too irritating. My experience might be isolated to me but yeah, they do have a different way of doing things for extensions. read more

*AVOID* I asked for golden blonde highlights and got PINK highlights instead. I had a 20 min consult with the stylist at the beginning of the appointment. I showed her pictures from Pinterest to give her a visual of my desired outcome. I used adjectives like "golden, honey, blonde". I'm still not sure HOW or WHY my 35 foil highlight turned out pink, but it did. The stylist called over the manager to show her what had happened. Megan the manager ended up fixing my hair. Because SO many chemical processes happened on my scalp in one day, about 20% of my hair fell out. I was there for 5 hours on a Sunday and I wasn't comped or discounted at all. Thong Suk took care of my nails in the midst of urgency and at the very end of her shift. She was understanding of my issue and was so comforting after I told her the last salon I just came from soaked my hands in acetone for more than 20 minutes. She was very pleasant and professional even when there was another lady yelling out and complaining about how wrong it is for anyone to wash the nail towels with the hair towels. Petty and nit picky but whatever I'm not the one who has to be stuck working with that every day. THANK GOD!!! Thong Suk was bubbly and caring and when she talked story it was about her family and her heydays. She is such a joy to be around and I absolutely love how she gave me her undivided attention. I've been going here for 3 years now and have always been extremely happy! I'm a regular customer of Christine Choe. She is amazingly funny, sweet and super good at what she does. I was recommended by a friend who totally loved her too. My whole family gets our haircut by her. I remember when Psy was first big here, she did the "gangnam style" dance for me, lol. Great conversations and haircut, that's a great combo in my book. The girls at the front desk are not always nice. The last time I made an appointment, she said I wasn't in the system... Which is absurd, since I've been going there for the past 3 years. Christine asked her to correct it in the system, and the girl argued and rolled her eyes. She was extremely rude and unprofessional, which really bothered me... How hard is it to change it? They had Mya Aulp... Ugh, ok, saying that I had two files. Which is totally weird, bc they check your military ID, where my name is spelled correctly... But you still didn't bother to change it? Bc your too busy shooting the breeze? I hate how people that work in military facilities think it's ok to be rude. Hello!?! You work in a customer service position, please be friendly... It's kind of your job. I'm an engineer, so what happens if I did half of what I was required?!? Either way, I gave the place 4 stars, only because of Christine, if the girls at the reception was nice, it would be five. 5 stars for Christine, Sinath and Dolores!!! 1 star for management and front staff at the facility I've been seeing Christine for my haircuts and color, Sinath for my spa mani/pedis and Dolores for my spa facials and waxing services since December 2012. All three provides stellar services and I had continued to put up with the inconsistent bookings, rudeness and lack of professionalism because of these three ladies up until now. I'm so frustrated in the front of the house staff, especially management. I brought it to the attention of the supervisor Ning how every booking that I've had every month had not been consistent due to lack of time provided when booked. I have the same services every month - the Pure Bliss with facial package booked a month in advance and each time, the allotted time frame is different due to the person booking. Each time I check out, I'm charged different fees. When I spoke with Ning, she did less than half heartedly listened to my concerns and interrupted me by telling me what I should have done to book my appointment. I interjected and said that's not what matters and I'm addressing what has happened to me during all visits. Bottom line, I brought it to her attention but it didn't matter as in her eyes, it was clearly my fault, she didn't offer any apologies or consolation to make my next visit a more pleasant one but continued to tell me what I should do. No remorse until I got fed up, demanded to pay for services rendered because she wasn't listening which "Pissed me off". At that point, she was apologetic and inquired to book my next appointment. As much as I truly appreciate all the technicians care and stellar services, I know when I return I should NOT expect to be treated with kindness and common courtesy and to feel important and pampered as in my definition of "spa" is to be pampered and spoiled. I'm paying fees to be treated poorly is definitely not my idea of a fun, relaxing and memorable time. I'm hoping that someone will put a stop to the lack of professionalism immediately as this is truly unacceptable. read more

I went here for the first, and last, time last week for a haircut. The receptionists were pretty nice and I was checked in promptly. The stylist who cut my hair was a bit too free with the razor cutting. She kind of shredded my hair but I know how to style it so it looks alright. It grows out fast so I'm not too worried about it. The stylist's personality was very standoffish and short; almost as if I was wasting her time or something. Excuse me but isn't hair what you get paid to do? Every time I tried to say something to her, she muttered "Uh huh" while she was looking away; clearly she was preoccupied with something else and I felt like she should have been paying more attention to my hair. She seemed to be more concerned with conversations that were taking place across the salon. Half the time she was cutting my hair, she wasn't even looking at it...but looking away at something or someone else. Very distracted and I felt like she didn't put as much effort into my hair as she should have. All in all, I wasn't too impressed. Their prices are outrageous and I don't feel what you get is worth what you pay. read more

Lanetta is who I see for my hair, she is FABULOUS. I really enjoy seeing her to take care of my blonde hair. So ladies, if you are looking for a stylist good with blonde, Lanetta is your girl. I'm so glad I found her. For nails, Thongsook is really good. She loves to chat, so be prepared for that. She does an amazing job. I unfortunately had to stop going though because their prices changed and its just way too expensive now..I also have never liked that they do not have nail dryers, but I dealt with it because I liked her that much. Place is decently clean. Not as clean as it could be though, thats for sure. My biggest problem. The girls at the reception desk. Rude. Standoff-ish. Short. Clique-y. And I often hear them bitching to one another about customers and other staff members. Not very professional... At this point, all I go there for anymore is my hair and thats ONLY because Lanetta is there. If she went somewhere else tomorrow I would be out the door just as fast and at her new place. I've been here twice, once for a military ball hairstyle and a second for a haircut. Getting my hair done for the ball was alright, I didn't get the hairstyle I wanted because the stylist didn't know how to work with my hair. Therefore, I had to choose a second hairstyle in a matter of minutes. :\ However, the lady was extremely friendly and I loved her personality. I believe her name was Maria. The second time was last week, and I had a lovely lady who was really nice and kept a smooth conversation flowing. Once again, I didn't get my hair the way I wanted it, and it got to the point where I couldn't exactly express how to fix it. Because of that, the ends of my hair turned out uneven after I brushed it out at home and there are still split ends, which she was supposed to trim off. A trim and fringe cut cost $30. Are you kidding me? Not too happy with the results, but at least the stylists were really great ladies to be around. Don't think I'll be back unless I can get booked with Christina or Lynetta. read more

I definitely think this place could use some customer service help at the front counter, I feel that the counter front should know what the salon offers and what it implies. However, I cannot stress enough how awesome Yolanda is. She can usually fit me in same day. She has gotten my hair to a color I love and super healthy. She goes out of her way to help you. She even got me a brochure on dealing with deep hair roots problems for my husbands beard. She remembers everything we talk about and what we plan for the next visit - even if it is 3 months away. First off, let me just say I was very hesitant to come here without already having a stylist in mind to do my hair. I called at 11AM and they were able to schedule me for an appointment with Susan at 12PM. I showed up a few minutes to noon and didn't even have to wait before being greeted by Susan. Immediately I was relieved because she was so warm and friendly, plus her hair and style was spot on. She sat me down and we discussed what I was looking for in my hair style, my preferences, and she gave me some hair advice. I asked for a trim and to have my hair thinned out. (I have extremely thick hair and it's to my shoulder blades in length.) She did a fantastic job washing my hair and there was never that awkward silence between the two of us. We went back to her station and the magic began. She walked me through every step so I would know what she was doing and why. She even showed me how much she needed to take off the bottom. Susan even asked if it was okay to try something a little different with my layers. At this point she had earned my hair trust. Susan spent a good deal of time styling my hair and ensuring that it was perfect before letting me walk out of the salon. I must say I am ridiculously pleased with the outcome and the price. This review is based upon my experience with some of their nail salon staff. I have had a few pedicures with Thongsook. She's very friendly and energetic. She gives fantastic massages. Never had any issues. She is there most days so it's pretty easy to get in for an appointment with her. Great pedicures! This past Thursday, I decided to get a full set and pedi and was able to get a same day appointment. I got an appointment with Iris. She seemed very friendly at first but as my visit went on, she continually questioned me about the services I requested. At times almost making me feel bad. She grumbled about my services being booked too late in the day to accommodate her 7pm off time (my appointment started at 4p). To top it off, one of my nails snapped off last night. Only 2 days after having them put on. It happened as I was washing dishes!!! This morning I called to see if they would be able to squeeze me in to fix my broken nail being as it was Easter. Receptionist stated she had an opening. She scheduled me with Sinath. She was very kind and listened to my concern. She looked at the rest of my nails and noticed how thin the rest of my set was. She went out of her way and took the time to fix it completely! She did her best to ensure I was satisfied with my service. She truly went above and beyond. I wish I could leave no stars! They literally cut my bangs into this uneven freakshow and refused to give me my money back. Their only solution was to have me come in and only pay tip to the guy that could fix it. As if! I also decided to get my nails done here as well. The job was terrible and my acrylic nails were uneven and didn't even last a week! The costumer service is non-existent and their prices are fitting for the shitty jobs they do. I was not thrilled with my experience here. I used a reference photo and asked my stylist (I forget her name already) to do a subtle ombre. Instead, she asked if I wanted subtle low lights with some scattered highlights for a transition effect. Well, it was neither ombre nor subtle, nor a transition, and the overall look was streaks of lighter hair. She also did not provide hair color swatches to pick from as a reference, and as a result I just had to guess what color tone my hair was. Would not recommend if you're going for a color job. You're better off spending a little more money for a skilled stylist at a nice salon. You'll end up spending twice as much money as you intended by getting it corrected. A lip/chin waxing is over $30. I used to frequent the salon because it was close to my house and familiar. I can't give it anymore chances however. Last month my stylist wouldn't come in from her outside smoke break even tho it was 15 minutes past my appointment time and the receptionists went to get her twice. Ended up being handed off to another waxer who was kind enough to take me but she was rushed and I ended up having to come home and finish the job myself. The last time, my wax took place out among the stylists on the floor! No privacy! This particular waxer was rushed yet again! This time however I was scared with rips, burns, and bleeding on my chin. It's been over 2 weeks ago and they are just now healing! It's overpriced and the service is spotty. Go elsewhere for a more personal experience. She is efficient, thorough and although hers may take a bit longer, I would rather it take longer and done right than super fast and get a lot of in-grown hairs. Thank goodness for reasonable prices and great service! My haircut is making me smile too! Besides good prices, I also used a coupon for 20% off which you receive periodically by signing up for th NEX flyer (we signed up at the Aloha desk inside the main entrance to Pearl Harbor Shopping off base). Most people use the coupons for NEX exchange or furniture purchases. I broke even because of the great cut, I tipped 20%. Walk in to make your appointment as calling may leave you on hold for awhile. This is my personal experience and wish you a better experience on the phone. The haircut starts with a consultation then a shampoo. Pretty standard. Then, polite and fun conversation during your cut. I also got a style so I don't walk around with a wet head. Christine did exactly what I requested so it was a positive experience that left me smiling. Minus one star for the attitude of the receptionist. read more

Suzanne is fantastic. A perfectionist and personable, she made my time with her a delight. Not only did we fix the slight miscalculation of my color because I overestimated the tone, but she fulfilled my every request. And I request some weird and crazy things! I wanted all the back and sides OFF and GONE. I was sick of my hair getting in my face trying to work out, even when wearing headbands. Hats can get too hot and cumbersome with most of the stuff I do. And she did at perfect length. Great, smooth fade up to my faux hawk style. I can wear it up or down, and it looks great. The color is the boldest I've ever went. But I LOVE it. And it's been a few hours after my style and I am still in awe at how awesome it is. Next day I get to mess with it myself and see what I can do. Should be fun. Great red! If you dig wild, custom styles and are crazy or unorthodox, try her out. She's a hoot! XD Also, front desk and other stylists there are very nice I think everyone there is super awesome. Even their clients. The energy in that place was chill but still energized.
