This visit I had brought in some coins I've been saving since 2020. As I walked in the first thing said was "are the coins rolled?" I retorted of course then they pointed the way to the cashier. Yes they were nice about it but then I flashed back to a time that financial institutions had coin counters. What happened to those days? As I digress once I reached the cashier she was pleasant and kind and patiently counted the rolled coins. We came up with different totals and she recounted the rolled coins again and found the errors of her ways and we came to the amount that I had. read more

After emailing with the unqualified manager they demanded that I had to come to the branch to get my money. So I did just that. Got in my wheel chair and traveled by bus to their location and upon entering I was directed to a teller to do my business. The teller was very nice however decided that she needed to read the file notes before giving me a check for my withdrawal. Then they tried to short me and keep the balance in a savings account. Soon the assistant manager had to stick her nose in my business. I tried to record what was going on and she tried denying me my constitutional rights to record. I told them either give me all my money or I would call the police. The teller handed me a check for one account and I immediately did a deposit to my other bank account. I was done with my deposit of the check and the assistant manager told me I had to go over to one of the desks to complete my transaction because I was holding up other members. I wasn't holding up anything I was trying to complete a withdrawal transaction that should have taken a minute to do but the assistant manager kept insisting that I had to move out of the way. I refused to move until I had my money. In November 2025this crooked credit union stole $3250 dollars out of my account and I had to go there to show them that they had no authorization from me to remove those funds. It took them over an hour and a half to find the records yet I was able to show them a screenshot of my account from the online app and they still wanted to argue. If you are over the age of 60 people should know they will now delay your transaction up to 45 days (freeze your funds) if they don't like the character of your transaction. They have accused me of some very horrible things and have cost me considerable expense because of their ignorance and almighty attitude. Draw your money out of this arrogant organization before they cause you severe distress. My matters will now be resolved in a court of law against this organization and each and everyone of the persons who have committed fraud against me. DO NOT TRUST THIS ORGANIZATION, REMOVE YOUR FUNDS AND GO TO A REAL FINANCIAL INSTITUTION. THEY DISRESPECT VETERANS AND APPEAR TO KISS UP TO THE CURRENT FEDERAL GOVERNMENT REGEME. Very discriminatory! Back in August I applied for a Flagship rewards credit card. I had a mailer with a great promo offer and couldn't get it online so I called. He initially said I wasn't coded for that offer. What? But he kept saying, "let me check something". 45 minutes later he came on and said since I had the mailer they were able to give me the better promo. They didn't. I received 40k bonus points rather than the 60k I was promised ($200 difference) so I went into the branch and enquired. She said she could see the promo offer that I was describing (on her computer) but I wasn't coded for that promo. I went to order new checks (more than 2 years since my last order) and was told this is my last order and in the future I would have to pay. Fine. But then I got to thinking, is it just me that has to pay? Am I "not coded" for free checks anymore? All their online stuff still lists free checks as a benefit. But not for me? read more

I've been with this bank since 2006 and I am disappointed with them and would never recommend them at all. They are non-supporting, you can't get a loan, and they don't even try to work with me? NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY!! As a 100% disabled Veteran I joined Navy Federal Credit Union hoping for thoughtful banking with an emphasis on transparent customer service. Sadly, I didn't find that at this institution. Years prior I had opened a custodial account for my minor grandson and now needed to open full membership accounts for him as an adult now that he turned 18. I called Navy Federal weeks before his birthday and learned I should make an appointment to accomplish this goal, and I did. The day of our appointment just as we were driving to the credit union a Navy FCU employee called telling me our appointment was canceled. Making excuses he explained because a custodial account already existed a full membership account couldn't be opened in he's name and than the whole thing needed to go to the back office for review. Having called them first telling them what I wanted to do and then by following their rules by making an appointment in advance a customer would think a professional institution would have made disclosure of the process in advance. I then called what I thought was the home office to learn more and make an official complaint. I was forbidden to speak to a manager, instead forced to speak to a supervisor who know nothing of my issue. I was told my complaint would be elevated to their internal complaint team who I later learned works in secret behind closed doors. I only learned that they blew me off by closing out my complaint and not even a call back to inform me. A week later I called inquiring whether I could come in to open an account for my grandson and was told NO action had been taken by the back office concerning his custodial account. After making another complaint and having waited 3 weeks I'm still waiting for permission to open a membership account for my grandson. When and if this issue is ever resolved I'll post an update. read more

I transferred to them from USAA whose customer service is a ghost of what it used to be. In over a year, I have seen zero love in any of my efforts to engage new products with them. My other creditors have been very generous. And the numbers of my creditworthiness surrounding the requests I've made have been strong. I'm credit educated and savvy. Based on my research of others' experiences and my personal creditworthiness, there is no reasonable justification. I can only imagine it's some form of passable discrimination at this point. I've received unyielding rote answers from customer service agents. You're not able to access any employees that are empowered to make decisions. Thus the call center workers hide behind policies that don't actually apply to the situation with 100% rigidity rather than employing common sense to find logical applicable solutions. The employees have repeatedly given me false assurances. I called in advance to ask questions to get VERY clear on their policies specifically because they have always been so stonewallingly vague. They do not give clear answers on any questions I've asked. They do not give any insight so that you can make an informed decision in the best interest of your credit. They pulled my credit and then told me AFTER the fact that they don't even offer a loan for that. What?! Paul, the supervisor slathered on the condescension making it out to be my fault and hung up on me. I called back and asked for a woman and what do you know? They do offer a loan for that with a justifiable exception. They made me make a complete new application and said they wouldn't use that credit report from minutes ago or for consideration of adjustments to my credit card accounts. "Each application is considered a new hard pull." Every other institution will use the same report for 30 days. Refusing any possible insight AT ALL about the thresholds or dealbreakers they are looking for at their institution, they likewise won't tell you over the phone their reasoning for a declination and insist you wait for their letter. NFCU does NOT set you up for success in ANY of their policies or customer service. They hide behind the disconnection of a virtual and phone interface. If I was standing in front of them at a branch I doubt their service would be as such. I've NEVER encountered such a banking institution in my life. Of all of the places you would expect would have such unfriendly policies for their members, the last place would be a credit union. NFCU has been nothing but a huge FU in my experience. Where to start. Well my wife and I applied in office with a representative from Navy Federal back in January for a home equity loan. Went through giving all information needed at the time in their office. Was told that a loan officer would be reaching out to us. Fine no worries. Loan officer contacts us and goes over a few things, then says she'll send that loan estimate out to us to look over and sign. We both went over the loan estimation. Ok signed sent it back. My wife got all information that's also needed in the time given. By this time because of her mistakes by putting our mortgage in our application twice. We were told because of DTI was out of the guidelines we had to have a contract stating we have sold our condo in order for our mortgage to be omitted. But as we found out it was our loan officers mistake of putting that mortgage in twice. At this time we got voicemails asking if we wanted to proceed with the application after the mortgage situation was fixed and the loan was essentially somewhat approved. My wife emailed as soon as we both heard the voicemail from the loan processor but our loan processor or officer did NOT READ MY WIFES EMAIL. So the application was withdrawn for incompleteness. So we are back at square one in this process once again. The new loan estimate is now higher in monthly payment but slightly lower interest rate. IF YOU NEED HELP DON'T COME HERE. I had such great service at the Pearl Harbor branch and "assumed" all locations were of the same standard. I went into the Aurora branch (with an appointment) to close my deceased spouse's account (with the death certificate) and was told he would have to come in to close the account. 3 trips later I was able to close the account. read more

Worst bank ever! Navy used to be top tier! Their customer service is terrible now. Like they've hired a bunch of idiots. My account was not only closed down due to fraud with out my permission but after them opening my account back up they said it would be in a credit only status so I'm able to receive incoming deposits as my taxes are set to that account. This was 2 days ago, I wake up this morning with two savings account 1 new checking account. The old account that should be in credit only status is now gone! I have not received my taxes and now have been on the phone with IRS for TWO HOURS because Navy Federals mistake. I will never recommend them and I will be pulling out all my money from all accounts and closing down my credit card. They are losing good members and will turn into Wells Fargo the rate they are going. read more

Run away from Navy Federal Credit Union if you are looking for a HELOC. My mom owned her house free and clear, has generous assets and good income and superb credit. The hoops she had to jump through to get some funds (less than half the house equity) to purchase a new home were insane. I am a real estate professional (over 24 years) and I've never dealt with such an unprofessional and disorganized loan institution. Each loan officer had a different story; some outright lied. The process was supposed to be a few weeks and took months. She almost lost the home she was purchasing with the HELOC funds due to their ineptitude. After having over 500k in biz with NFCU over 10 years. Good Luck I Have conditional loan approval based on getting appraisal of item back within 14 days. Provided the info within 10 days and now told I waited to long. NFCU doc and email says 14 days. The only way to restart is pulling by credit. NOPE - NOT AGAIN - You have it. I SUGGEST DEALING WITH A CU THAT WANTS TO HELP THEIR MEMEBRS. I talked to nice people, but they said it's policy. Because my husband is in the military and I'm insanely fed up with Wells Fargo, we chose Navy Federal for our future banking - after hearing good things from our friends. PRO's + online banking is insanely simple with the app - including uploading a check. + super low interest rates are offered to military members and their families - which we plan to utilize for our VA Loan! + staff is very welcoming and helpful. we recently stopped by here to change my name on our accounts and although we had to wait about 30 minutes, our needs were met and we left happy. CON's - there is only one location, which is right near Buckley AFB - which isn't close to home, but if you're able to knock out a few errands in the area, you're set. - atm fees. - their website seems to be having issues when accessing accounts, making the process take a few minutes longer than usual on a computer. overall, I've been pleased with our banking needs! read more

My father has 4 accounts at Navy Federal. He passed away and I am his only surviving relative and legal heir. Colorado State Statute requires them to close his acts and give heirs the money 10 days after his passing They won't give it to me after 11 days had passed and I presented all legally required documentation. They have a "Survivor Support" Dept which said it's their policy to review the accounts and will not release funds until 10 days from date they are notified of his death and they will contact me. Not only is this illegal, it's now 11 days after notification and still no response. DONT DO BUSINESS WITH NAVY FEDERAL! read more

This bank was a great bank when I started going about 9 years ago but this past year I've had numerous problems with my auto loans and being charged late fees upon late fees that I shouldnt have been charged. I spoke with the manager Brandon (he wouldn't give me his last name) on the phone and he refused to help me in any way because "it wasn't their problem". Ive switched my bank and I plan on refinancing both of my vehicles through them. I've never been treated so poorly and had I known I would be treated so badly I would never have wasted my time coming here. Absolutely the worst experience I ever had with any bank at any time. I have a mortgage through them. This is the 3rd time I've bought a house, so I have a little history to compare with. Imagine the worst of the bureaucratic paperwork crap and compartmentalization you came to expect while in the military, combined with the greed of a for-profit corporation, and you have NFCU. Clearly, they cater to military because we are a good business decision with lower risk not because they care or member of the community. They cost me I figure about 1/2% / $100 a month easy on my loan due to their bait and switch tactics, and by the time you're into it, you've already lost the 20-points on your credit report from the hard pull to get pre-approved. Their rate guarantee is a joke, and would only be considered after you've had another 20 points pulled from another hard credit pull from another institution. My realtor and the title company had never seen anything like this place. They've compartmentalized everything, so you end up filling out forms in sextupulet, and get tossed around, and jeopardized our closing. Now, they're making it near impossible for me to pay my mortgage from the bill pay function from the bank I use to pay my bills.My only hope is rates come back down and I can refinance to get out from under these people with minimal damage. They did not earn and do not deserve my money. Oh, and then they wanted me to complete a survey! Sure, if you pay me the 1/2% I lost, I'll consider that compensation enough, but I sure as heck am not going to spend my precious time helping you get better after this. Stay away from Kimberly Nicola. She constantly complained about not wanting to be at work, continued to yawn in my face, and didn't even do her job! Staff unfriendly when I tried to open a savings account. They did not seem to know what to do, how to do it and whether or not they could do open the account. Gave me written confusing account numbers that did not match what they told me when I opened the account. Tellers not helpful and I could not get an appointment to see the manager who was taking a coffee break. No deposit slips given so that I could mail vs mobile app, in deposits to the local NFCU in Copperas Cove, TX. Now I just send in deposits to VA. Hmmm, wonder if they are more friendly and welcoming there? read more
