When did banks stop doing private car loans? Thanks Navy Fed, proper bank with proper service. Great rates if not the best in town!

We're just totally gobsmacked! Until today we sang this credit union's praises since we had always received superb customer service! Gone are the four stars to their previous 5-star rating. Really zero stars (One star) for the horrible treatment by the manager, Jen. Unacceptable behavior and total unprofessionalism in how she treated my husband when he asked about holding funds from a deposited check from last week. She pretty much told him if we weren't happy we could close down our accounts today! Wow! Rude! And this discourse was taking place in the lobby of all places! No privacy at all. No courtesy or consideration to take the discussion behind closed doors in an office! How embarrassing for your customer! SMH! At least, she did release the funds. It's still no excuse for her less than stellar disposition. Members are your mission? Really? This member is a retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant with 33 years of service and we shouldn't have to be treated so disrespectfully. I am taken aback with this manager's attitude. You can bet I called NFCU's customer service. I hope she doesn't exhibit this type of behavior toward other members or to us again! Hope she gets a talking to by her higher ups! Please take some remedial training in customer service. Treat others the way you want to be treated. If you cannot then find employment elsewhere not dealing with the public. read more

Close to home, great service, ample staff and short wait time. The bank of my choice.

About 36 years ago I bought a Hyundai Excel 1988 (A Piece of crap car) when I was a young Marine. Years later I was medically discharged from the military, I had no job and my wife passed away of cancer and I was left a single father. I filed for bankruptcy in 2001 about 23 years ago. I wasn't doing too well. The bankruptcy was written off and I was supposed to start fresh with a new beginning or so I thought. Fast forward to July 2024. I own a home worth over $1 Million, I've worked in a school district for over 20 years, I'm a business owner and I have a credit score of 835 and I have no debt. It was time to get a new van for my company. I was preapproved through my other banks/Credit Unions where I keep my money but I wanted to come back to my military roots. I opened an account, the guy I was talking to had to make some calls. He asked, Is there anything the client can not do or is limited to because of the bankruptcy 23 years ago? The person on the other line said "No limitation" The bankruptcy was written off and he is free to open an account and apply for a loan. After applying I get an answer of DENIED! I was like, really? It's because of what happened 23 years ago. The guy said they would send me a letter with the reason. I finally got the letter. It said that " 23 years ago you caused Navy Federal a loss of $4,72. That is a long azz grudge to hold. I'm sure they would have made that back with the loan and the money I was going to transfer over from my other banks to consolidate my finances. Was greeted immediately and courteously. Branch was clean and not busy at 3:00pm. Opened new account. So far so good! read more

More than one negative experience at this particular location. In each opportunity to provide customer service in which I felt valued as a member, I was treated in a condescending, marginalized manner. I never receive the same treatment when I visit the Murrieta branch. It's a shame I have to drive across town to receive courteous service. read more

Absolute worst customer service by Hanni. Horrendous, no sense of customer service nor a pleasant greeting received. We were left with such an unpleasant experience we decided to go with another credit union. read more

I came in to the balance to pay off my car and to open a new checking account. Rebecca was the one who "helped" but really didn't help. She was RUDE had questioned me several times on why I want a new account, even though I explained clearly why (just to start all over after my divorce) she did not want to help and made me feel stupid. I don't understand why she is even a banker. Worse customer service!!! read more

Got in and out fast which was amazing as it usually takes an hour or more. Don't like having to line up telling person about our business just to get helped. The people at desks take forever with each customer as they are chatting and slow. Fine. If no one is waiting but very irritating when you are sitting there for half hour and they chit chat. Hate going there due to it being so time consuming. Liked fast efficient and courteous service. read more

Pretty basic, ladies were friendly. Nothing phenomenal. This place is here out of convenience for the hordes of folks escaping the costly Carlsbad and San Diego areas and sacrificing their lives spending it on the road commuting while their families live a better life. read more

The bank manager helped my 20 year old son apply for a car loan... was so helpful and gave us both great tips. I don't remember the last time I ever felt compelled to review a bank... hahaha. But Navy Fed overall has been great to bank with... and I've seriously never had a bank representative just be so cool. read more

Waited in line for 30 minutes to be treated badly. One of the 2 tellers on a Friday with 15 people in line, was letting customers know about his haircut, nap, and everything else he did on his day off. C'mon, people have things to do.... I get Mr Personality.... 3 times they have let me pull money off of my debit card (non member) to put in my daughters account. (Who is deployed to Germany) He stated it was against their policy. He knew by this time I was in a rush. He kept typing instead of just asking a manager. I finally said "look, I'll get the money out of the ATM and I will be right back." He stated "well you'll have to get back in line." Needless to say, I'm, so upset and shaking by now. A manager comes up and says it's ok to go to the ATM, and he will wait for me. Took me 1/2 a minute!! I may not be a member but my child who is active military and deployed is!!! They both should be reprimanded!!! Not to mention, you should have more than 2 tellers open when it's a Friday afternoon, with 15 people in line!!! So glad I don't bank with them!! He thought he was just messing with me, but he was messing with my kid!!!!! read more

Jeanie helped me... it was a busy Thursday am... I was also helped at teller line. I was greeted and helped quickly. I have been a NFCU client for over 20 years. It's amazing how busy they have become. I have had so many life accomplishments here, home purchases, auto, insurance, college savings etc. of-course I have had a time here or there where the wait was a moment too long... but over all my experience is always worth banking here. But what promoted my review is Jeanie. I never have reviewed NFCU and I am now because of her service. She goes above and beyond every interaction. She's like coming to visit a family member. Literally. She makes you feel that way. Lol like you go way back. And honest i don't know her that well. But every interaction I feel like I do. She cares. She relaxes me. I trust her. So I trust the credit union even more. I don't mind waiting that extra moment. Her service is worth the time. read more
