We eventually decided to move our business to another brokerage, which was also a very challenging process. It was like dealing with the Department of Motor Vehicles in the former Soviet Union. Would not recommend.

This is unfortunate because I was happy with them for a while. However, the last few times I've reached out to them for time-sensitive important matters, it took an unreasonable time for them to respond or I would get no response unless I followed up. The service I received from a particular agent from this office most recently was very disappointing. Rather than taking the time to talk to me, give me detail options or give me a quote, she just quickly responded that I'd "probably get a better rate through the insurer my mortgage company is using" - even though my mortgage company highly recommended that I go through my private insurer for better rates. It just felt like the person didn't want to go through the hassle of looking into it or even calling me rather than a quick response via email. This is definitely not what I expect from a State Farm agent. I almost gave up and was just going to go with the crazy high rate for the required supplemental insurance through my lender, but then another State Farm agent reached out from a different office and they were more than happy to call and take the time to look up my options, find out more about my situation and what would work best for me - they were also super nice and made an effort to get to know me and offer me other plans I may want/need in the future without being pushy at all. In the end, this other agent was able to find me a rate that was only 1/3 of what my lender was quoting with much more comprehensive coverage! Anyway, like I said - I was happy with the service from this office the first several years, but I would be wary if you get similar service to what I received within the last year.

One of my vehicles disappeared from my policy for several weeks, other vehicles were added briefly, and non-related drivers were added. None of this was Mr. Munson's fault. However, throughout the entire ordeal that spanned two months or so, he never reached out to apologize on behalf of State Farm. As the public-facing representative, he should have made an effort to contact me, apologize and try to make the situation better. Despite being cc'd on several emails over the course of the issues and multiple direct emails from me to him, he never replied or responded once. If he had, I might not have canceled my State Farm auto, home & umbrella policies after 40 years of being a customer. Good job, Mr. Munson, you helped cost State Farm ~$3,000/year. The staff was professional, communicative and did their best to make a bad situation better. Not Mr. Munson. He was completely inept at customer relations.

After their initial reply to my online inquiry, I emailed back and explained what I was looking for and that I was hoping to get some new coverage as soon as possible. Paul wrote back right away and asked a few basic questions about my business. I responded late that night, and the next day they were able to get me a very reasonable quote, send me an application, and bind coverage in just a few hours, and I didn't even have to pay any portion of the premium upfront in order to get the new policy in place! Alliance set me up on quarterly payments and told me I would receive my first bill in a few weeks. I also had a couple of big contracts I was about to lose without proof of insurance and Cheri was able to generate a COI and send to me right away that same afternoon, which I greatly appreciated. When I moved into my neighborhood years ago, I went the easy way with picking my insurance agent,…read moreusing the same State Farm agent that the community was using for its master policy. In retrospect, that was a really bad decision as the agent pretty much took all of our business for granted, between being pretty much unresponsive when it came to customer service, never doing policy reviews, and ever-increasing premiums despite never having filed a claim. The last straw was when I reached out to my agent to help solve a problem about some of my policies not displaying online several times, finally receiving a response telling me to get in touch with State Farm's IT department directly. Excuse me? What's an agent for if they don't work on behalf of their customers? It was obviously time to leave State Farm and shop around for a new agent. Several of my friends have used Erie for years and spoke very highly of them, so I hopped onto the Erie web site and found Foresight Insurance quite literally a few blocks away from my house - and this was indeed my lucky day, landing in the hands of Michael Cruz and his team. I made an appointment to meet Michael in person, and he spent well over an hour with me reviewing my old policies, asking me a lot of insightful questions about my home, car, and umbrella liability policies, then going through some options with me. By the end of our meeting, I not only had better coverage that were well-tailored to my individual needs, but my premiums actually went down significantly. The excellent customer service experience didn't end there - not only did the folks at Foresight arrange for canceling my old policies so I wouldn't have to deal with State Farm directly, Michael followed up with me about a week later to bring me up to date on the transfers and to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. When I traded in my old car for my new wheels a few months later, getting the new insurance in place couldn't have been smoother, with Michael's team also making sure that I knew what to do when - including not cancelling my old auto policy before turning in my tags! All of my questions have always been answered very quickly, often within an hour of me sending an e-mail. You can't ask for better responsiveness than that! I'm just coming up on my first year with Foresight, and once again, Michael has shown how focused his firm is on customer service, doing a policy review with me and making some minor changes to my policies to bring things up to date. You really couldn't ask for better people to work with - they're very good at what they do, they put their customers first, and they're incredibly nice people as well. 25 years of homeowners coverage and I never needed anything from Cascade/Erie...until last week. I…read morenever noticed how they operate - I just always paid each invoice. But then, last week I tried to make a change because pricing had skyrocketed on an item of extra coverage which provided me with no real benefit...and now I have experienced that Erie is painfully slow and very paper based - with very periodic billing compounding issues that prompt communication and billing would eliminate. The Erie way of doing business is causing extra checks to get cut back and forth. Definitely consider/reconsider other providers esp if being able to complete tasks expeditiously, electronically, is a concern to you. I could not image how gruelling and how much drudgery there would be with a larger issue like a claim.
