This library goes to show you really shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Haha, pun intended. This…read moreis a small branch of the much larger Harris County Library system, but held a host of pleasantly sweet surprises and I don't have enough good things to say about them. Right when we walked in there were two ladies at the desk who sweetly asked how they could help me, which they did, with getting an actual library card (the only one I had was for e-books), helped with my daughter's summer reading program logging and prizes (she got to choose a brand new age/level appropriate book), then told me that reading to and with my daughter counts towards my adult reading program too, along with some additional helpful hints. Then she pointed us to the children's section, which was filled with all kinds of fun and sensory things to do besides read which were so fun I had to force my daughter, who normally LOVES books, to come over and pick one out. They also offered us a free school summer lunch, which are offered for school age children at various locations throughout Highlands and Baytown courtesy of our local school district Goose Creek Consolidated on certain days at certain times. All these things plus, weekly story times for littles (ages 0-5) and a family story time, other fun weekly activities for different age groups, as well as, 26 Computers with Internet, MS Office, and Catalog access 1 Pharos Computer Booking Station, 1 Print Station, and 1 Pho9tocopier. So, if you're ever in the area or just want to check out this mini, but mighty Harris County Library locale, I promise it'll be worth the trip.

I like history and things that are free/cheap so this location ticked both boxes when I was looking…read morefor something to do with my family while visiting the Houston area. I mean, who can pass up a cool memorial that is similar to the Washington monument in DC but it's in Texas so bigger (of course). We came on an afternoon during the hot, mid-June sun and there was not a soul there. The indoor museum was closed and we thought the whole park was closed at first, but no, it was just hot and most sane people were indoors. Hey, we're Minnesotans, we thrive in harsh weather conditions, mother nature be damned. We wandered around the grounds to see what this place had to offer. The monument with reflecting pond was cool to walk around, it is a really tall monument that can be seen for miles. Not a lot of stuff is built up around it though, so it feels way out in the middle of nowhere. It was also somewhat unnerving that we didn't see other people. A few more crazy people like us came after awhile and eased our nerves. It seems most people give a quick walk around the tower and then leave. Unfortunately, there was no battleship on the property as some other sites and reviews mention. That was a bummer, I would have gladly paid to take a look at that piece of history. That was kind of the ticket I used to get my family here, so once they figured out there wasn't a boat here, we packed up the car and left. Still a great piece of history that holds a special place in the heart of Texans (and the nation) everywhere. Interesting historical story to read about later too after visiting the site and seeing it first hand.

Pretty cool place for it being hidden in the middle of the plants…read more $14 entrance is alright for just a small museum, a movie, and a view at the top. Would recommend this hidden gem. Definitely a great place for picnics and family time. Big fields!

So I'm new to town and this place has the worse service I have EVER received from a facility…read more I was there on Friday 02/28/2020 in line at 11:43am waiting for my number to be call so that I could get my registration sticker. I had my son with me who's a year old, by 1230pm my son started to get agitated I was looking for someone to give me some guidance on how much longer it was the wait time. A lady that was working there came out and with an attitude told everyone who was standing by the kiosk machine that they needed to move. That was when I told her all I needed to know was how many numbers were ahead of mine, with and attitude she "yelled across saying what's your number" I approach closer to her with my stroller and told her, she then closed the door and proceeded to her computer. Minutes later thru her window she said "A lot you have to wait" I stated that they have 6 windows and why only 4 are open if they are so behind and have people waiting for 2+ hours. She proceeded to yelling across her window telling me to get out while I was holding my son sitting at a bench inside their office. I got my son back in his car seat and moved to the lobby it was around 1pm when I noticed another lady calling number from her window but they were not showing on the screen. That was when everyone started to gather by the front door to make sure there number wasn't being skipped. After talking to some people who was waiting for hours before my arrival they said this place in known for skipping numbers and they get away with it. Coming from customer service side this ladies that work at this place have nasty, nasty attitudes they don't appreciate peoples times and just straight out don't care as long as they getting pay. If your working in a customer service environment you need to have respect and be courteous to others THAT IS YOUR JOB!!
