She just looked at us and didn't apologize and then just walked away without saying anything to us. So we waited and she came back and just looked at us. So we asked what happened and she said I refunded your money. So I said oh ok well you didn't say anything or give us a receipt and she said I was helping someone else. She was extremely rude. You can tell they care just as much about helping people enjoy coffee as they do about making it. For my husband, the benchmark is espresso. He's always searching for a shot that's balanced, sweet, and expressive. It's been a surprisingly difficult thing to find, but somehow, Attalus nails it every single time. His go-to is a double shot over ice, and it's one of the few places we've found that is able to deliver consistently! As much as we love discovering new cafés, we're incredibly grateful to have a shop of this caliber so close to home. Attalus has easily earned a permanent spot in our regular rotation.

I honestly don't even know what I was thinking ordering that combination. I am not the type to get floral drinks and I didn't know that the wildflower syrup would be so strong. I think I wouldn't have minded if the matcha flavor was strong but it was pretty watered down and had a pale color :( Not sure if I'll come back because it's out of the way for me. Småstad Coffee Roasters is a tidy shop with cafe tables inside and a large wood table on the terrace. They welcomed me warmly as soon as I stepped inside. I chose a large cardamom brown sugar latte and 2 small cardamom, lingonberry and black currant cakes ($4) that were dense but moist and surprisingly filling. Were they milk cakes? I should have asked. The latte was lightly sweet with a kiss of cardamom. I recommend this little shop tucked away off the main road. There's a private drive out front.
