It was a one man show when we checked this place out for breakfast, so it took a bit of time to get our order, but he was so friendly and clearly doing his best so we didn't mind! The menu is surprisingly broad for such a small place, I think anyone could find something they liked here. Açaí bowl - this is a highlight! A pleasant surprise that the açaí blend is not super sweet, there is tons of granola throughout and beautifully presented berries. Coffee is definitely on the darker roast/bitter side - not our personal preference but good if that's your jam. Breakfast sandwich is also tasty!

Pictures and reviews are very misleading. I wish I looked deeper into the one star reviews before coming. The single staff member was fairly friendly but seemed to have no experience making coffee. There were four cups out at once and rather than making each cup at a time demonstrating the coffee craft in each coffee, the employee pulled several shots poured the amounts into each cup, let them sit on the counter while frothing a huge batch of milk and proceeded to just dump the milk into each cup..... I hate making reviews like this but the business advertises extreme care and quality for their coffee and yet these were made with such carelessness. The vanilla latte I got was super burnt and bitter; pretty close to a black coffee if you ask me. This place could easily turn this into a 5 star place again by starting with training every employee on creating the perfect cup of coffee. It seems like there are other staff that do take pride in making their coffee but unfortunately, I suppose, I didn't come in at the right time. If you value your time and money please check out other coffee shops in the area while they figure out their business. I hate Starbucks and Starbucks is better than this...

Coffee and a Cozy Cafe. On our way through Calistoga we discovered this special coffee and cafe find. Soul Rebel offers up organic, fair trade tea and coffee and locally sourced baked goods. We could have ordered everything -but we settled on ordering the: Kale 'Em with Green-ness which is Kale, Spinach, Strawberries, Banana, Almond Milk Chia Seed option to add agave, two Americano Coffees with Fresh pulled espresso shots, the homemade Breakfast Sandwich comprised of a Fresh cooked frittata, pepper jack cheese, red onion, fresh avocado and Tomato on ciabatta with chipotle aioli. They also have good vegetarian options and something for everyone. Soul Rebel is a quaint and special stop that offers perfect cafe treats and delicious drink options! Service: "Nick" the owner was welcoming, informative, and accomodating. He provided courteous, quick, and Perfect service. Tips: Outdoor seating, street parking, Dogs allowed, and free wifi.

Love everything here! And that's saying a lot because we're coffee shop snobs from L.A. Our kids love the smoothies and acai bowl. I'm not a coffee drinker but I do love my teas and the chai here is excellent, other adult members love the mocha here. I just realized they have breakfast items so I'm trying those next. I come regularly to this little town when we come visit family during holidays and long breaks so I'm glad this sweet little spot is here!

First time stopping in. Coffee shop is small with no place inside to sit (no good for a rainy day) but a fair amount of seating outside. The barista was friendly and helpful. We wanted to try their bowls but the freezer was down, so opted for a breakfast sandwich. Must say it was on point! Coffee was good too. Would try the place again!

Small and friendly, serving a great coffee.

Sitting outside sipping on my flat white, super smooth coffee (no sugar needed). Some of the smoothies looked delicious and at $7 look great value. Will be a stopping point going forward for sure. The other drink we had was an iced chai and that was awesome. Go check these guys out, they are a little hidden - but go find them.

The past couple visits were odd. A few months ago wifey and I ordered the usual waffle and açaí bowl with an orange smoothie. The owner finished making our food then sat down outside to eat with the employee. I had to interrupt them to inform them we haven't received our smoothie. To be honest, the smoothie wasn't worth the wait This Place has gone down hill since I first ate here. Hopefully things will be better next visit.

Uncooked oatmeal at the bottom of a paper cup

I never write reviews but I felt I needed to for the sake of the public. I truly don't understand how this place got 4.6 stars on yelp. Coffee was bland and burned - tasted way worse than Starbucks imho. The oatmeal was served to us in a large paper cup (so strange) and it was completely uncooked at the bottom. I truly don't know how you screw up oatmeal - an 8-year old could have done a better job. The breakfast sandwich was uninspired but passable. Service was very absentminded - when we mentioned the oatmeal was uncooked and inedible at the bottom they didn't say a word. No apology, no comment - extremely confusing...I have no idea if they were sober or not. Literally the worst $46 we have ever spent on food. Please, take your money and stomachs elsewhere.

I went out of my way just to get a fresh smoothie from here, and it was soooo worth it! I got the kale smoothie without agave and it was perfectly sweet and tasty for me. My husband got the berry smoothie. We both finished them so quickly! On top of the amazing smoothies, the staff was super friendly and so easy to talk to. I would definitely come back here the next time I'm in the area!

Had breakfast here twice during my weekend stay in Calistoga. I rarely would visit a place twice…read moreduring the same vacation but have to say the breakfast sandwich of sausage cheese and egg is incredible - probably the best I have had. The sweetness of the tomato and mayo (I asked to hold the onions) go so well to balance the saltiness and fat of the sausage patty. The BLT with avocado is also very delicious with crunchy and flavorful bacon, fresh and crunchy lettuce, and richness from the avocado. A must visit before you spend your day swimming in wines!

Dear Management Team,…read more I am writing to formally express my concern regarding an extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional experience I had at Calistoga Roastery on August 21, 2027, between approximately 1:00 and 1:15 p.m. I was visiting Calistoga with a friend to celebrate our birthdays and enjoy a spa treatment. Before our appointment, we decided to stop by your coffee shop for a quick bite and a coffee. Unfortunately, what should have been a simple and pleasant experience became very upsetting and left me feeling disrespected and unwelcome. When we entered the establishment, a male employee greeted us. I responded politely, "Good, how are you?" while looking at the menu. He responded, "Shitty." My friend immediately acknowledged his comment by saying, "Sorry about that." I did not hear his response clearly and continued looking at the menu. He then said to my friend, "Thank you for acknowledging it, unlike your friend. She doesn't care what day I'm having." At first, I assumed he was joking. However, once I realized he was genuinely upset with me, I apologized and explained that I had not heard what he said. Rather than accepting my apology, he continued repeatedly telling me that I "didn't give a shit" and that I "didn't care" about how he was feeling. He continued making these comments in front of my friend and other customers. I repeatedly tried to apologize and clarify that I genuinely had not heard his response, but the situation continued to escalate. At that point, I felt extremely uncomfortable and confused about what was expected of me. I had simply responded politely to a greeting and was not intentionally ignoring or dismissing him. I understand that everyone can have a difficult day, and I have empathy for that. However, it is not appropriate to project personal frustration onto a customer or repeatedly criticize them after they have apologized and attempted to clarify a misunderstanding. There was also a woman present, who appeared to have blonde hair, who witnessed the interaction. She smiled at me and commented that "he always does this." Her reaction gave me the impression that this behavior may not have been an isolated incident. The employee later explained that breakfast was no longer being served because it was after 1:00 p.m. I accepted that information without issue. Despite this, when we were leaving, I thanked him and attempted to end the interaction respectfully. He made another insulting comment in front of my friend and other customers, stating that I did not know about my friend because "she has a bad attitude." I was especially disappointed by this experience because I also work in the customer service industry. I understand that employees can have difficult days and that misunderstandings can happen. However, I would never allow a customer to be treated this way, nor would I expect an employee, supervisor, or manager to repeatedly insult or confront a customer over such a minor interaction. What should have been a quick and pleasant stop during our birthday celebration instead became an experience in which I felt embarrassed, disrespected, and unwelcome. I did not confront the employee or respond disrespectfully, despite how uncomfortable the interaction became. I continued to conduct myself with grace and professionalism because I believe that is how customers and employees should treat one another. I am respectfully asking management to take this incident seriously, investigate what occurred, and take appropriate action to ensure that other customers do not experience similar treatment in the future. I also hope that appropriate guidance or training can be provided to staff regarding professional communication and customer service. I appreciate your time in reviewing my complaint and hope to receive a response regarding how this matter will be addressed. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope you have a wonderful day.

I looked for an email address so I could share this feedback privately, but since I couldn't find one, I'm leaving it here instead. For hygiene purposes, I recommend having attendants use a tissue, napkin, or gloves when handling waffle cones rather than touching them with bare hands. During my visit, the same employee was operating the cash register while also preparing ice cream, which meant they were handling both money and food. I believe this small change would help reinforce good food-handling practices and provide customers with an even greater experience. Thank you for the wonderful ice cream and I forward to visiting again!

What an amazing experience…read more I know wine is the primary attraction but as those of us who are local know there is so much more This olive oil tasting is one of the many more things. Great ambience off Silverado trail. Cane here with my best friend to do a tasting. Charlie was our host and she was amazing. Super knowledgeable and a terrific host. We tasted two olive oils form their harvest. One was more of the less ripe olives and one was of the more ripe olives. Both were tasty. One more and the other less acidic. Both peppery. The. Came a couple of oils form Italy and Spain. I liked the Spanish one much better and it went well with the bread and was candidly amazing in its own Then rhe balsamic vinegar came. Aged to 18 years the fist was perfectly acidic and quite viscous. The second one an infused with ripe figs for a year. More sweet for me but perfectly balanced. For example, while others had an olive oil gelato, I had an olive oil sorbet with a blood orange gummy. It was really interesting. In no way did I feel deprived or like I was missing out. In fact, mine might have been better than what the others had. That was the last course though. Before that, we did olive oil tastings with bread and popcorn and balsamic vinegar tastings with cherry tomatoes. They used to make all the food in house but now partner with some local places. Amberly also did a wonderful job walking us through details around the tastings and it was very informative.
