Just a little heads-up: the hot drink definitely needed a second sleeve to comfortably hold it. Overall, a nice little spot to grab a coffee while exploring downtown Napa. We love to bring back whole beans from here back to the east bay! Our favorite is the "farmers market" They were out of it on the shelves so we decided to pick two new bags of beans to try instead and casually mentioned that Farmers Markt was our favorite but out of stock. My coffee was bland couldn't taste the pumpkin spice nor the espresso. Waste of $6.50. There is only one bathroom stall. Not sure why they only have hot water for the faucet to wash your hands. If you're looking for a unique coffee experience in the heart of downtown Napa, look no further because "Napa Valley Coffee Roasting" will have you covered. Located directly on Main St. and adjacent to 3rd St. within steps to the Napa River, this place has been serving locals and tourists alike dating back to 1985. It is also one of the few locally owned-and-operated coffeeshops that has withstood the test of time; especially with giant corporations (like Starbucks) as well as more family-owned independent places which has saturated this area since the 2010's. I came here with my lady during the early afternoon of Saturday 7/12/2025 at around 12:15pm. Parking can be a bit challenging which is why I recommend using the nearby parking garage which gives you the first 3 hours FREE; more than enough time to soak in the entire downtown Napa experience. From the outside, this place looks absolutely amazing and something out of a romantic comedy movie. The inside is even more special with an abundance of natural light, plenty of seating throughout, and an interior that looks more like an upscale boutique than an actual coffeeshop. Since it was already the afternoon and I needed my coffee fix, I settled with their "Iced Snickerdoodle Latte" priced at a very reasonable $6.25 (as of mid-2025). Their main focus here is specifically coffee/espresso beverages as well as many unique favorites (lavender latte, cinnamon latte, etc.) as well as many non-espresso options including teas, Italian sodas, juices, and hot cocoa. Keep in mind that they don't have a traditional breakfast menu but do carry select pastries (donuts, cookies, scones, muffins, Biscotti, and more). As for my iced snickerdoodle latte, this absolutely hit the spot. It was a bit on the sweeter side but who has had a bland snickerdoodle cookie? Every sip had that delicious sugary taste combined with the subtle bitterness of the coffee itself. I also want to point out that the employees maintained a very positive attitude with a smile on their face. And Wi-Fi connections were reasonably quick, perfect for studying or getting work done. All in all, "Napa Valley Coffee Roasting" hit all the high notes for me and now I know why this place has been around since the mid-1980's. This review gets a perfect 5-star rating. read more

I asked if the staff if they do pourover and was told that they did. I selected a coffee for it, but what was served as way too hot to be pourover. I'm not sure how it was made and it's my fault for not asking, but the coffee was ground too fine and the water was way too hot, bringing out a lot of the bitter notes in the coffee. When I finished it, there was a sludge of fines at the bottom of the cup, which shouldn't be there in any type of pourover because of the use of a paper filter. Overall, not a great experience if you're looking for pourover coffee. I didn't try any of the espresso-based drinks so I can't comment on those. read more

These drinks are actually amazing. I stumbled across this place walking downtown and wanted to get some coffee with friends, the mango smoothie is incredibly fresh and creamy! After grabbing some awesome English muffins across the way, we needed some coffee to make the trip back home haha. We checked out Yelp, and was happy to find they had a Napa Valley Coffee Roasting place close by. Parking was a bit tricky at this location, but was finally able to get one. This location is large and very bright. It's so clean. The workers were very nice and gave us some suggestions on what to drink. We had the Toasted Hazelnut Mocha and the Lavender Vanilla Latte. Both were very good. And I'm usually very picky with my coffee, but this place just hit the spot. It was not overly sweet or strong. The coffee was just right. The line was not too long for a weekend in downtown Napa. I was really happy with the service at Napa Valley Coffee Roasting, even with the line, I was able to ask questions about the coffee menu/make an adjustment. The staff were very nice! Super disappointed in the service at Napa Valley Coffee Roasting. Local Napa reviewer writing here and my partner and I had driven from Tahoe earlier on Sunday to grab coffee before getting back to our house. Once we got there, we noticed how many people were waiting and staring at the counter for their orders. It took us about 30 minutes for 1 double shot espresso and 1 latte. I had let customers know once they came in that they were going to be waiting for a while. For such a prime location and honestly incredible coffee, the people working it were not on top of it and somewhat dismissive. It sucks giving this place only 2 stars since the coffee was great, but the service itself ruined the experience. read more

This coffee place is super cute. The baristas were super sweet and full of lots of energy which was much appreciated. Unfortunately, as for what is sold here, I am not a fan of it. To preface, I am very vigilant of what goes into my body for health reasons, but everyone should be. There is sugar in just about everything. I am used to going to a coffee shop where they have at least something without sugar whether a snack or a drink or sometimes one of each, but this was not the case here. Even the matcha powder already had sugar in it which was very disappointing. I think what you consume is a very personal choice and when you don't have one it makes it hard to support! The combination of the smooth espresso and subtle sweetness of the honey was perfectly balanced yet not too overpowering, just the right touch of natural sweetness. It was refreshing, flavorful, and had such a comforting, mellow vibe to it. You can tell they use quality ingredients, and the flavor really stands out from other lattes I've had. This is such a cute local spot! The cafe is super spacious with plenty of seating and is a great spot for a pick-me-up while exploring downtown. My boyfriend and I got a cold brew and an iced honey lavender latte. I would say the coffee is pretty standard, nothing crazy special but the cup sizes are pretty large (idk if it felt bigger because we are so used to SF coffee spots lol). One of my favorite places to get coffee, whether it's beans to take home, a cup to go, or to stay. A local company, their various roasts are excellent, and will give you a drink that is not bitter. The cafe itself is clean and bright, and the staff are friendly and responsive. They have pastries from Buttercream and cookies from Annie The Baker (her lemon cookies, and her peanut butter cookies are the best), but they do tend to run out of pastries sooner rather than later. Right in the middle of Downtown Napa, this coffee shop has a bright, cheery, welcoming vibe to it. Their coffee is one of my favorite roasts I've had at a coffee shop. It's smooth, creamy, and not bitter at all. The staff are always nice and helpful. Parking can be a bit tricky, but that's normal in Downtown Napa.
