I had a horrible experience. I booked an appointment for a haircut that was $100+ for 2:45 pm. I then get a text message asking if I could make it at the salon at 2:00 PM. I replayed that, sadly, the earliest I could do was 2:30, since I had a previous plans--which I had to get out of early so I could make it to my appointment. Their reply was "we have to cancel your appointment then, sorry." I called and talk to a "manager." I expressed my discontent and told them I'd cancel my plans so I could make it to the appointment, if they were not available at 2:45, I would assume that should have been shown on the booking tap on their website--which I had to put my cc info to "hold my appointment" which is not uncommon. The only response from this "manager" was "THIS IS NOT A CHEAP BARBER SHOP, WE GET BUSY." To what I replied, that that was EXACTLY why I chose that salon in the first place since "I do not go to cheap barber shops." It is shocking to see a business treating NEW CUSTOMER. Naz is an amazing stylist, and probably the only one I'll ever go to again. I went from having incredibly damaged, long hair to wanting to take a risk and go short. During my initial consultation, we talked about eventually getting to a pixie but settled on a bob prior as a transitional cut. During my next appointment, I got a pixie cut that worked wonders given my fine hair texture, shape of my face and my overall style. I had previously written a 5 star review for the experience I had with Camilo's amazing work on my hair and makeup, and for his friendliness that made six hours in a salon chair fly by quickly. Today, I received a text message from Naznaz Salon informing me that Camilo is no longer with the salon, and asking me to remove my review. I am astounded by the immaturity - and frankly the poor business sense and apparent insecurity - demonstrated by Naznaz in their decision to ask customers to remove their reviews because of the departure of a staff member. Airing dirty laundry and making customers uncomfortable is certainly no way to retain business. As a customer, I expect that my phone number is used to confirm appointment times - not for petty antics such as this. I am dumbfounded as to why a salon would want customers to remove 5 star reviews, but alas, per their request, I have removed my previous review, and am replacing it with the 1 star review I feel Naznaz deserves in light of this experience. This place physically injured me. Naz gave me second degree burns on my scalp. He was bleaching my hair and it became very hot- I told him. It then got hotter, and hotter. I started begging him "please take them out please please, youre hurting me" and his response is "but it is looking so good". I could feel my scalp burning and I kept pleading for him to help. I was crying and eventually had to start ripping the foils out myself. It was a huge scene. Once i said i wanted to leave, he demanded $100 and said "you are such a baby- you are just being a girl". He then called the police on me, and screamed at me on my way out. I am currently in the emergency room having my scalp treated for burns. I lost half of my hair today. Do not trust this person - he hurt me and will be losing his license. read more

Went there for my mom - she wanted to color her hair after years of using hair dye. She has tons of grey and wanted to glam up her hair by adding color and highlights. Norberto worked on her and he was greatly accommodating and knew what he was doing right from the get go. He was patient, friendly and very reassuring during the 6 hour long process. Gave her great tips and also said he would retouch up her hair after a few weeks for free. Once the final bit was done, he even offered to redo it if she didn't like it. My experience with Naz was not pleasant. The reviews are positive but must admit months later I am still disappointed with my hair. Perhaps those who visit him and have positive reviews must have never been to a good stylist ! Basically he did NOT listen to my needs, concerns and wanted to change me someone that I am not! In addition he insulted me and told me that I did not know about the quality of my hair and ignored my "culture" . I have to be honest, Naz might have some skill but not sure if he has any qualifications. He seems to have just taken "hair classes" randomly and feels the need to charge NYC prices ! Don't let the beautiful salon and his title of a "stylist" fool you. Basically he took my gorgeous hair, bleached it (the texture is really bad now) and did a "butcher" chop !! He seems to be angry all the time and I find that to be very off-putting in general, let alone when you're trying to have a conversation and explain the different kind of hair you'd like to have. Even showing a couple of photos he said "yes hmm hmm I get it" and then proceeded to cut my hair as he thought would be nice. And he's definitely not gentle when combing through and parting... I had gone to Naz once before and he took time, cut my curly hair well and I was impressed. I went some months later again, and he was busy and terrible. First, he kept moving my appointment time around, and i had to keep adjusting my schedule. Then, when I went, he was rushing through two other people's hair. The assistant basically put some conditioner on my hair for 30 minutes since I had to wait. Then, he literally took 10 minutes to cut my hair. I realize his trick is to blow dry it so it looks good. Even when you give someone a terrible cut, you can blow dry it straight and it looks fine for the moment. I was so frustrated because I asked for long layers and he refused to do that and just cut it one level. About 3 weeks after, it looks like a hideous cone. I will have to get it cut again. AVOID NAZ. I finally found my hairdresser! :) I just moved to the area from Cobble Hill Brooklyn and was looking to find someone who would help bring my hair back from the brink of disaster due to poor coloring choices. A month ago, in a desperate attempt to improve my hair which was dull and dry looking, I saved up and spent over $700 at a leading salon in Brooklyn to have a cut, balayage and keratin treatment and I have been dismayed that just a few weeks later my hair seems to look worse than before as the color has turned brassy and the hair seems frizzy and limp rather than strong and glossy as I had expected. I went in for a consultation at NazNaz Salon last week and Naz recommended a color treatment to bring back the natural chocolate brown and a protein treatment, both at a very reasonable price. He took time to identify what had recently been done to my hair, my concerns with my hair color and quality, and what I wanted to achieve. I went in today to have the color done and it came out absolutely beautiful!!! Naz also gave me a trim and blowout and I left the salon feeling like my hair looked healthy, rich in color, and full of shine. Naz also had a plan on how to improve my hair over time with trims, treatments and vitamins and made many thoughtful suggestions. After spending a few hours in the salon it is clear that Naz has built up genuine relationships with his clients and the atmosphere is friendly, fun and professional. I just moved to the area and wanted to find blowout for my 30th birthday. I read the reviews on yelp and reached out to a few and Naz, was the first to reply. You could feel his bubbly energy through text. When I arrived at the salon, he made me feel welcomed, like I was a part of a family. He complimented me, offered me coffee and since it was my birthday, ran out and got a bottle of champagne. I couldn't believe how caring a complete stranger could be. He even applied some make up for me. Needless to say, I left the salon feeling like I was on top of the world. My hair looked amazing, my make-up was spot on and he gave me such confidence. After having my hair blown out, I decided I'd be going back... how could you not? My hair has been through it all (when I mean through it all, I mean it) semi caught on fire, chopped, previously been completely hacked by someone who was trying to help remove the sizzled dead ends. Well my beautiful hair that used to be half way down my back is now a mullet. Naz spent an entire day with me with conditioning treatments trying to put life back into my silly string hair. They were on time and I had someone wash my hair immediately. In addition, they gave me a glass of champagne! A few minutes later, Camilo took me to complete my blowout. I initially wasn't sure what I wanted but Camilo did an amazing job with my hair! My hair felt light and my curls stayed in since the appointment!
