I stopped by 4 times opening week and got a pretty good flow for this new casual fresh place which still has to work out some service kinks, but the food was excellent. I have no doubt that when the owner gets his pick of talented trained staff, there won't be issues. More on that at the end. The FOOD! There are plenty of options on both the dinner and lunch menu for various palettes and dietary restrictions. Some standouts were the Chorizo & Crab Camarones, Kilt-Less Salmon, Fish Tacos, Mexican Poutine and Gochujang Cauliflower. I also tried the Tastefully Fit Bowl with fish of the day and it was very fresh, if not a little bland and a little smaller than expected. With more sauce and size I'd be happy. We also tried the Bulgogi Steak Stack (their take on a steak sandwich) from the lunch menu which had excellent flavor, but the beef had a lot of tough bits to it. Not super tender through each bite. The burger was okay. We had two different versions of fries while we were there - the first few days they had shoe string fries and later in the week they had traditionally cut fries. So I'm not sure what they will stick with. The thin ones had a nice subtle salt and vinegar flavor. Could use a larger portion of either. Both were good. Tried the Tikka Massala Grilled Cheese which was another great lunch option. Very cheesy with a fantastic Peruvian green dipping sauce. The mac and cheese, dare I say, had too much cheese. I'm thinking most kids would love it, though. We also had the Flourless Chocolate Tarte which was great. COCKTAILS were good, but it's clear they were still getting into the groove on those. Every time I saw them served over the week we'd see the glass and garnish change a bit. They have an adult milkshake drink, which I think would be decent if made as described, (shaken hard with fresh poured cream), but it was quickly shaken with only a couple half-n-half coffee creamers dumped in. The Bloody Mary was nothing special. The Mojito was excellent with either Basil or Mint. Cocktails are $12, but you can also get other basic drinks for less. There were 6 beers on drafts which were all very good. Be nice to have double that number on tap since NC has so many local options to choose from. Loved the bartenders! Very friendly and attentive for both drink and food service. The building is beautiful inside. Wide open. You'll be able to see the sunset from any seat in the house. In the summer it looks like you will have two tiers of decks to choose from and a lower lawn area to play some yard games. It's a very beautifully constructed place and they made the most out of a small lot. Duck needed a place like this and it is a welcome addition. On the servers, we weren't really happy with the service Thanksgiving week, but they had just opened and its clear a new restaurant is not going to have it's pick of staff this time of year. One server was just kind of indifferent. The other was super friendly but still wasn't attentive with drink orders and making sure the delivered meals had everything on the plate that was supposed to be there. So I went back to try out something else on the menu. This time I ordered the seafood triangles and it didn't disappoint. Service was excellent and so was the view. After rethinking a initial response I had I decided to edit my review and the thought about the cost of this delicious dish. The ribeye (Ocean Impaired) was a five-star but the Crab Cake was a three-star, especially since mine came with a fly in my potato hash. (Always thought flies making it into food was a myth until now.) My wife ordered the ribeye and if I could go back in time that's what I'd have ordered too! The waitress was pleasant to talk to and did a great job answering our questions about the meal. I am not one to generally leave reviews, but I will make an exception for an exceptional place. My brother and I were looking for a place to eat anywhere between currituck and kill devil hills coming back from the northern part of the outer banks. Even at 6:30 on a Friday, they were able to take us as a walk-in with no wait. Points already. After ordering the cauliflower, which has an unbelievable korean honey sauce I could have eaten as every course, my brother noticed a sign on the board to ask about the chefs sampler. They provide a reduced portion of a majority of the menu on a board for two. Of the 8 items on the board, I would rate my least favorite as "good". The waitress was knowledge about the items and when I asked about the shrimp and grits sauce (a cajun cream sauce which elevated this to my favorite dish of all of them) with which she was less familiar, she made a point to ask the kitchen. After all of that, the sampler also came with an order of the beignets, which were equally as excellent as anything on the sampler platter. As for logistics, theres an ample amount of both indoor and outdoor seating, which directly overlooks the sound. Parking in their own lot is scarce but there are plenty of lots just a short walk away. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. A wonderful outlier in a sea of touristy seafood joints that all run together. read more

My mom and I stopped here for lunch after a day of shopping. It was a cute restaurant with a pretty cool menu so we were into it. We were seated right away and our waitress was friendly and attentive. She asked us if we had any questions about the menu and went over the specials with us. I'm not much of a seafood person so I went with the chicken tikka masala wrap. The wrap itself was really good and the cheese inside was to die for. I'm just not a big fan of curry, so the chicken itself I tried to cover in the green sauce that was served on the side with it. The green sauce also was very good. My mom ordered the strawberry salad and added chicken to it. She kept saying how good and fresh everything was. She was even a fan of the pork pieces that she was a little apprehensive about trying. I would have loved to sit outside to enjoy the beautiful view of the sound that's offered, but we happily sat inside with the air conditioning. Maybe during our next visit we'll venture outside. My family was out and about in Duck, looking for some lunch. After some light research we landed on this place. Upon entering we checked out the layout and they had both a lively indoor and outdoor seating section. The outdoor section was right on the water, and that is where we sat. For apps we had the poutine fries and the Go-Gho Cauliflower. Myself, my wife, and my kids aged 15 and 11 shared them. The fries were just delicious and the cauliflower was drizzled in a sauce that was to die for. We finished it all. For a main course one of my kids had the fish and chips hole the other had Mac and cheese with a side of the grilled Mahi. Neither plate stood a chance as they gobbled it down. The mahi mahi was especially yummy. My wife had the fish tacos and she raves about them and I had the Korean steak wrap--yum. Lots of interesting dishes on this menu and some very playful drinks. Was visiting the area and came here at 5:30 on a Thu, 2 adults/1 toddler and was sat right away. Pros: - The NC Oysters were unique and very good - Ambiance/Decor was modern and the open kitchen was pretty cool. - Eating Duck is usually a hit or miss for me, but when in Duck, you get the Duck. This place definitely knows their stuff and the entree was amazing Con's: - The Old Fashioned was supposed to have Demerara syrup, but they accidentally used the jalapeño simple syrup. I drank it anyways though. - They were out of kids menus, which made entertaining the little one a little harder than expected. - I couldn't really get a vibe on the server, was friendly at times but also seemed a bit annoyed at other times Overall if I am ever in the area again, I would definitely return. read more

Went here to celebrate my anniversary. Waited over an hour to be seated. We ordered the chefs board and were told there was meat and asked for it to either be substituted or just removed if that wasn't a possibility as both my husband and I are pescatarian. The food arrived after over an hour with the meat still on the board. We asked the waiter if it was the meat and he said no, even though there is a large bone. It was in fact tomahawk steak. We then found bacon on the oysters. Extremely disappointed that the wait staff does not know what is in the dishes especially when guests have dietary restrictions. There was no offer to remake the meal without meat. Also, there were spiders falling from the ceiling into our food and drinks. My husband had two spiders land on him during the meal and we ended up having to ask for our dessert to go because we were so grossed out. This has become our go to spot when visiting Duck. We had a great seat for the the sunset (a great one no less). And we were lucky enough to have Jacqueline the bartender as our server. We started with the tuna patron appetizer...sushi grade tuna seared with a great sauce over a avocado/guac base. We then split the seafood trilogy pasta dish. Shrimp, scallops and lobster served over a plate of pasta with a creamy parmesan sauce. Great flavors, all cooked perfectly. Sit at the bar and ask for Jacqueline...she is the best. And as an aside, the gumbo is always great! read more

The atmosphere was amazing, beautiful waterfront dining with tasty drinks and delicious food. Highly recommend the chefs specialty board, we got 4 apps, 4 entrées, and (incredibly delicious) beignets for $110 for two people. We were put on a wait list and told the wait was 1 hr 40 mins but they were able to get us seated in less than 10 mins. Service was fast and staff was super friendly. I feel like this place has potential to be truly amazing. The location is great and you can get an awesome sunset view here. We got the pork shank app which was tasty and tender. The slaw was fresh with a nice crunch. But our entrees were lack luster. I got the seafood trinity. My pasta wasn't flavorful at all. The scallops were divine. The shrimp in it was good too. But the lobster wasn't hot at all which was a huge bummer. The ricotta cheese was a nice touch. My boyfriend got the shrimp and grits. The sauce and shrimp were delicious but the grits were just ok. It wasn't worth the price. Also, the service was extremely slow. Our server was in the weeds but he didn't seem to be getting help. I would give this place another try. They were definitely extremely busy so maybe they weren't giving the dishes the love they usually do. read more

Our server Claire was very knowledgeable about the unique menu and extremely personable. She alone made the dining experience great. First let me say I have been here 5 times before and it was very good. Its expensive however so it should be. I almost always order the seafood trinity. Its usually creamy, lots of seafood, and great proportions. I went with 7 people. It was not packed. We ordered chicken fingers 2 orders. One order had one chicken finger that was mostly raw. $14 for chicken fingers and fries. No exaggeration. For a kid. 3 people ordered the trinity. There was zero sauce. It was dry. There was a shocking lack of seafood and to make up for it they PILED on sundried tomatoes. $44 for each trinity. Usually its worth it - this was not worth $25. I wont be coming back for a while. Oh and they charge mandatory 20% tip for 6 or more and 3% for credit cards on TOP of the high prices. Yea. It was massively disappointing and actually due to raw chicken - dangerous. I hope it gets back to where it was very soon. But im avoiding for a year. It was that bad. read more

They had some fun choices on the menu from the bar and had a great selection. Then, our dinners. We had the Salmon and the beef. Both dinners were fabulous. Our only minor complaint would be that the Brussel sprouts were slightly undercooked for our liking but that didn't take away from their flavor. I'm not sure what just happened but that was one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. I am a avid blue point fan because of the great food, daily chefs special and their chef run kitchen. But. They had no room so tried this location with a reservation. I left thinking that this will no longer be my second choice. I came with a table of 5. Drinks were on point. Apps were delicious. Had the baked oysters, tuna patron was out of this world, and finally the Mexican poultine. We ordered the chefs specialty board for 3. Let me say that the food was plenty: rib eye over oven roasted potatoes. Crab cakes. Something like general tso cauliflower, pork shanks glazed in something amazing, Brussels sprouts, potato risotto and a grilled salmon perfectly cooked. Everything was perfect. Was perfect. I clapped I was so happy at the appearance and the taste was so so good. So so good. So so so good. Did you catch that. So so so good. Desert was pretty awesome too. Banana and carrot cake mason jar desserts and southern Beignets (not to be confused with real ones. But for fried biscuit dough was delicious. The mason jars were full of real carrots and other things. I can taste the freshness. Our server Alex was attentive, kind, and sold very well. I was impressed with his ability to share a food story that made me want to sink into every bite. If he hadn't suggested the chefs board. I would have been left wanting my original first choice. He paid attention to me the entire evening. I suppose the point is this. The food was cooked expertly and was fresh with lots of great flavor. Our family had dinner here on vacation and were all very satisfied. Food was delicious service was excellent.

We stopped by last night on a very busy and very hot evening. The wait was 1 hour and 45 minutes to be seated. It was too hot to enjoy a walk on the boardwalk, so we shopped a few of the nearby stores to keep cool. Once seated the temperature inside was still uncomfortably warm. Our waitress did come and take our appetizer order right away, commenting that we all looked quite hungry. Our appetizer arrived timely, but it took quite awhile longer for her to return to take our entree order. After our order was placed, she came back after about 30 minutes later to let us knew that too many chefs boards orders were delaying our entrees, so it might be another 20 minutes to get our food. Twice she encouraged us to place another appetizer order for crab dip, but stopped short of being apologetic for the long wait or offering any type of compensation for the delays. When we finally received our food and had trouble with the salt grinder, she handed it straight back, said "put your back into it", and turned her back and walked away. In addition to being overly warm inside, the noise level was quite boisterous, the chefs salad was quite plain for the menu price, the light over our table went out briefly and one person in our party had the scallops and didn't feel well for the rest of the evening. Overall it was just a disappointing experience for us on this particular evening that wouldn't inspire us to return. read more

My daughter and I decided to visit this restaurant. Although the young man that served us was polite and the food was great...we felt very unwelcomed and it was if they were not use to having African Americans support their business. I would advise, if you are of color, to read every review before visiting this restaurant. Went the other day for drinks/apps around 4:30 pm, and had an okay experience. Because we're a bit more COVID conscious, we wanted outdoor dining, and were sat immediately in their outdoor tent with no wait!! There were babies on all sides of us (adorable, and totally makes sense for the time of day), but all were blasting baby music from iPads at full volume and clapping/singing along to wheels on the bus. The rating is not based on this, but definitely took down the experience given the high price (~14/drink). I am guessing they sit the babies outside when possible, so just a tip for those deciding on inside/outside :) Once seated, it about 10-15 minutes to place an order for drinks because they were out of drink menus- and also because of the time to get a server back with those menus. We ordered one round, and sent back the margarita because it tasted like pure syrup- wine was totally good! Apps were super delicious, and one of the only vegan options we found for one of the group!! Would gladly eat the crab dip and the cauliflower so so many times again (seriously- even our pickiest eater who hates cauliflower said it was delicious!) However, the plates that came out were all dirty/covered in food crumbs, and the food runner looked grumpy when we asked him to bring us new plates- dropped only one back on the table and left without an apology or comment- so we ate off the main plates instead. Our water cups were also dirty (likely from wind/dirt being knocked from the top of the tent) and despite asking for replacement, never got new waters. Overall- yummy food, wine was pretty good, but for the premium price, the ambience of the outdoor dining and service aren't super worth it.
