I can't say enough good things. My husband and I went for lunch on a Friday- the food was delicious and fresh. Wait staff were kind, quick and everyone was practicing safety regs. We went back for dinner Saturday night and had an even better experience. Drinks were great. Had the poutine appetizer-wonderful. I got the shrimp and grits which was different with a red cream sauce but absolutely perfect. Husband got a tomahawk chop which was wonderful. We were miserably full but could not say no to their delicious beignets. The chef made rounds to great patrons. He even took pictures for a delighted family. a minute ago NEW Dine in | Dinner | $50-100 It seems that every time we go someplace new, we stumble upon a sparkling gem. In to ight's case, that gem was NC Coast Grill and Bar. We went on Christmas Eve. We booked the restaurant because not many places were open. I am SO glad we did. The places was packed on this Christmas Eve. We were told they were not serving the regular menu but instead they were serving the chef's board. The board menu looked really good so we were game. We started with a cocktail and a cup of gumbo. It was out of this world delicious. Then the board came. Holy crap! It was huge and full of yummy meats, fish, and veggies (see photos). Everything on the board was super delicious. My husband hates salmon and duck but he ate it here. So good. After the main course we got a plate of beignets. Also extraordinary. The atmosphere is lively and bright. So, that's the food. Now let's talk about our server Sandra. We could not have asked for a more professional, friendly, and helpful server. Just a total delight. Food was above average. Everyone on our party of 8 liked what they got. Not a lot of choices on the menu. One and done for me.

Four stars if this had been open for a few years, but considering how new it is, leniency is key. Outstanding food in a very open (meaning LOUD!) serving area with direct view to the kitchen, which I like. Friendly but young service team, but this place is all about well created and well executed food. We had the chef's plate, a kind of omikase medley of proteins and veggies, smaller portions than you'd get (obviously) but the same as on the main menu. Strip steak with a succulent chimichurri sauce, the kiltless salmon, pork shank, Korean fried cauliflower and brussels sprouts (at least) were on the board, presented by chef-owner Wes to the table. We'd ordered an excellent kale salad and the cauliflower already and couldn't finish, but not for lack of trying. Downsides, because even the best have some: it's a little smoky, espec ner the kitchen. It's loud, so be ready for that. It's a little disheveled at the entrance with very young but oh-so-friendly folks trying their best in a smallish space. The only "real" complaints: the Brussels sprouts were woefully underdone (and the only thing that was a miss on the chef's plate), and the bartender made a truly not good Manhattan (no worries, local brews were there for the rescue). Oh...gotta finish with the beignets...a perfect ending with caramel, raspberry and chocolate sauces. This place is going to be crazy busy in-season, espec when the outside seating is in place. I don't know how the kitchen will hold up, but it is an absolute must try for anything north of the split (actually anything SOUTH too, now that I think about it!). Our first time here and we didn't regret at all. The presentation was on point and the taste was amazing. We really love the ambience , the decorations, and small details throughout the restaurant. The view from the window and the deck is so perfect for romantic sunset dinner. We had ocean impaired , blood orange scallop, oysters, Tomahawk chop and beignet for dessert. I really have nothing bad to say about the food or our lovely waitress who happen to be Filipino! Only reason I am giving 4 starts instead of 5 is because of the rude treatment and response the girl who was working at the pier gave us. My husband and I were taking pictures when she came to grab the check that was on the table. We simply asked her how to make reservation to be seated outside but she couldn't help responding us with annoyance and was really irritated. She told us we need to make $200 deposit and that it's all booked for summer already. This is our first time at this restaurant if we aren't allowed at the pier all she gotta do was simply told us but she didn't, instead decided to give us an attitude. We didn't touch anything on the table or moved a thing. Being the only Asian customers at the restaurant at the time was already uncomfortable and the treatment was just not lovely. read more

Very disappointing Saturday night at one of our previous favorite restaurants . We made a 6:45 reservation-had to remind the host that we were still waiting at the bar and we were finally seated at 7:25....no apology and there were 2 high tops open and one never filled the entire evening. The cauliflower appetizer, which is usually outstanding was mushy and inedible. The pork chop was extremely small compared to previous times and bland. The vegetables and the pasta with chicken were bland and overcooked. The steak appeared to have been stewed not grilled. We were extremely disappointed and hope they get their kitchen and hostess teams back up to their previous standards. read more

What an Awesome place!! A table inside for 4 in only 30 minutes in the middle of the summer, perfect. A beautiful smile when we walked in the door and 100% kindness!! 2 great appetizers, Mexican Poutine and Fried Cauliflower. Steak, Scallops, Crab Cakes and The Tomahawk Pork Chop everything was perfect!!! Then there was dessert a little New Orleans in OBX 4 excellent beignets with 2 sweet dipping sauces and of course xtra powdered sugar!! We love Duck! While it was hard to get into - we tried NC Coast Grill & bar and it is a great addition to the Duck dining scene! I must admit it's a little loud but the food more than makes up for the noise! The food was great and we sat close to the kitchen and enjoyed the "show" of all the food prep! We stopped in here for a drink and some apps and we were very pleased! We got seated right away (indoors, there was a wait for outdoors) and had a great view of the sound! I'm sure the view outside was just as good if not better! We shared some oysters, which were great, and for drinks had the "oh honey, i'm peached." There were countless guests entering, leaving and walking around with no masks and our server, and the female manager were not wearing masks properly if at all. We were trying to find a restaurant around 530pm on a Saturday; I called, they answered the phone (A+) and told me there were 2 tables available (score!). We were there 5 minutes later, waited in a brief line for 5 min then were seated. We had the appetizer beet salad, shrimp and grits, scallops, and beignets for dessert. Everything was delicious. This is our first visit to OBX and we were heading towards Scarborough Lane with my 91 year old mother in law when I saw this place pop up on google maps. I read a couple of positive reviews and we decided to try them. The server Suki was warm and sincere. The food was excellent. The fresh fit bowls, the chicken wrap and fish and chips were all delicious. With every type of business experiencing staff shortages these days, business owners need to remind staff and perhaps themselves that all customers pay their paycheck. A simple hello or someone will be right with you goes a long way. We certainly didn't mind waiting we could see everyone was busy during lunch. We would have appreciated a simple greeting.
