Communication with David throughout the entire process was excellent. During his initial site visit, he described what will be included in his quote, and what other circumstances can incur an upcharge. Before the work began, David provided a list of items I needed to buy due to personal preferences like paint color, tiles, fixtures, etc. Due to my schedule, we agreed on a start date that was approximately 3 weeks after his site visit. He and his coworker worked for 2 weeks (8a-5p). They were very punctual every day. They also used floor runners to minimize the tracking of dust from the bathroom to their equipment staging area on our driveway. After arriving home from work daily, I'd meet with them to say hello and to take a look at the progress. At the start of each phase, David would confirm the end-goal so we would ultimately be on the same page. The finished product was beyond amazing. My wife and I highly recommend them. Four payments (each approximately 25% of total) were made via check throughout the process. Two of the payments included other items David had to purchase, which was expected from our very first conversation. When all expenses were paid, the total was about a third of the 3 previous quotes I received from other companies.

Given the scope of the project, I went through several contractors (including firing our original contractor, ouch!) before deciding on Edgar and his team, and in the end, I'm so glad we did. Some of the things I appreciated - 1. Edgar is highly knowledgeable about the construction process. He was able to anticipate the problems and call them out in a timely fashion. He would make onsite videos explaining the issue, which made life easier for me when I needed to communicate with my structural engineer or the architect. He also advised me on possible solutions, their pros and cons with cost estimates, so I had more information when making a final decision. 2. Knows and follows city code, which made the inspection process very smooth. Edgar also kept me updated on the city code that might come in the way of my design vision, which allowed me to course correct or find an alternative. This saved us a lot of mistakes. 3. Detailing is the biggest challenge for any project. This is when the whole design and the vision come to life. I'm definitely very specific about attention to detail, and this is where Edgar and his team really shined. From the tile work to carpentry to railings and other details - the work was done with great attention to detail and quality! Edgar would routinely check the work, and point out any misses to his workers before even I got an opportunity to raise concerns. While the project was extremely challenging, Edgar and his team made life much easier.
