David and all his team of experts did a wonderful job installing new pavers in our backyard. Our old concrete slabs were cracked, and had shifted, altering the drainage of water to flow towards our house. After interviewing many landscape pavers, Ideal Engineering stood out for being prompt to all the meetings, willing to visit multiple times to double-check measurements before bidding and were knowledgeable on the current state of available inventory and which showrooms to visit to preview them. Prices were very reasonable and transparent. There were no unplanned mark-ups and all change orders were reviewed and had to be approved by me in advance, so I could budget accordingly. I think this is an advantage of choosing a local paver. The work was efficient and professional - different specialized crews for demolition, irrigation, paving, cleanup were used with their own knowledgeable foremen. Each foremen acted as an available point of contact and communication was easy and friendly. Any texts or calls were usually returned within minutes. The teams were proactive in highlighting any complications or issues that might require design approval to make sure the work they did matched what I had in mind. For example, Pedro, the paver lead felt it was better to create a smooth curve at a corner instead of a straight 90 degree corner, and he was right! The boundaries flowed smoother and nicer with the lawn. The paving work was top-notch. We had decided to install premium pavers from Belgard, and it was important the work was done properly for such an investment. This included grading at the proper slopes for proper drainage, adding weed-resistant fabric, multiple levels of graded stone for proper leveling and polymeric sand for good sealing between pavers. The team helped build custom steps that looked very nice to create easy step-downs and paver edging was done with great style and aesthetics. For a potentially complicated project, I really felt confidence in the team and the process. David also helped offer advise in helping me move and reset our external heat pump units so that they could be reinstalled on top of the pavers. They were able to build conduits to facilitate running irrigation and electricity underneath the pavers for adding drip irrigation of containers and future lighting in our garden. Cleanup was thorough, with parts of our yard reseeded and topped with new topsoil. There was no construction debris left on our lawn or streetside. Everything was swept up. Fence gates that were temporarily removed were re-installed to appear as if nothing ever happened. I appreciated their attention to detail aligning the trees with fence panels and positioning the "face" of each tree. The irrigation system was plumbed with the bubblers I needed and a sprinkler timer was setup with conduit and proper fittings for a clean installation. This is not an update review for Ideal landscape, but since Ideal recommends designers I want to be honest about my experience with one said affiliated designer: David recommended Agnes Tung (Muzik Design Studios) to us and we have been attempting to work with her since December last year. It's now been 8 months and we can't say we are even the least bit happy. Agnes is busy, which we understand and we have been flexible with project timeline. However this should not mean unprofessional behavior such as poor communication, lack of follow up after commitment, and missing or delaying pre-scheduled meetings for which we took time off for, with no explanation. We will no longer be working with Agnes and wanted to write this update to warn other homeowners who are thinking of using a designer. I do not know why she treated us this way after being so flexible with her on countless occasions. Perhaps you will have better luck but I am very sad about the partnership and have stepped away from it feeling disrespected. read more

He took the time to explain that the stone is naturally layered and that some surface flaking over time is normal. Our complex hired David and his team for a concrete job which involved demolishing the old concrete and installing a new one. We decided to go with him because and during the initial consultation, he took the time to understand what we were looking for. He never pushed for any add-ons or tried to upsell--just focused on what we needed. He was easy to reach and he makes the effort to get back in a timely manner. The initial estimate of work was 5 days to complete. But in reality he and his team got it all done in just 2 days without sacrificing quality. During demolition, we hit a snag with an old, non-working lamp that needed to be removed. He was very resourceful and was able to reach out to an electrician in his network, and they removed it with no disruption. Totally unexpected and incredibly helpful. After the concrete had cured, David and his team even returned with their equipment to help move some large planters for us--again, not part of the original job, but they went the extra mile to make sure we were happy with their work. His team did a solid job and they were very communicative, transparent and professional throughout the whole process.
