Visited the famous Nearest Green Distillery with my husband for our mini-moon on Valentines Day. We visited via "Tennessee Whiskey Tours". Upon arrival, the property itself was absolutely beautiful. The rich green colors, the open driveway, the art that could be visibly seen from the highway. Very gorgeous! The welcome center was clean and modern, displaying history of Nearest Green's lineage, facts about the art of distilling, display cases filled with tools from the original distillery/farm, as well as display cases for their world-renowned Tennessee Whiskey. The staff were all polite and welcoming. Our tour guide (forgot his name, but I have a picture of him!) was awesome! He was funny, personable, and very knowledgeable. He shared that he's been at NGD for the past 3 years and you could tell that he enjoys his job. The tour was great. The only downside was that half of the property was off-limits or non-operational at the moment. The time slot of our tour unfortunately occurred closer to closing time so we weren't able to check out their bar, Humble Baron. We did get to visit the speakeasy on the property and the area where they pour and bottle for the welcome center. It would've been fun to check out the stables to see all of the pretty horsies. Overall, it was a good experience. To visit a place filled with rich history, black history. Praying for the Nearest success for more opportunities to continue sharing the Green legacy.

Did the Uncle Nearest Distillery tour while in Nashville. It was a bit away from my hotel so we plan extra time to get there. I almost missed the first portion of the tour! Rich in African American history and also the whisky business surprisingly! Beautiful, clean grounds. Our tour guide was excellent. She was knowledgeable and funny! The bottle every whisky and cognac there on the grounds. There is a tasting towards the end of the tour. They also have a massive gift shop. I bought a bottle of the 1884 and a tee shirt. A must visit.

The staff's hospitality is world-class, making you feel like family while sharing Nearest's story with genuine passion and reverence. Walking through the facilities and learning about the meticulous distillation and aging processes gave me an even deeper appreciation for the craft. The tasting at the end is phenomenal--the exceptionally smooth, complex flavor profiles of Uncle Nearest premium whiskey absolutely speak for themselves.

Worlds largest bar! This place is huge. They have so many bar stools. It wraps around the entire building.

Enjoyed my day. Spent at the distillery. The tour guy. Julie was amazing. The food was excellent and I had to check out the gift shop. The entire day was so nice, and we even took pictures with Fawn! The food is amazing, and the drinks. The place has plenty of parking right on the ground and it's free! We did the whiskey tasting into her. The cost was well worth it.

Wonderful venue and tour--an absolute must-do! The experience was informative, engaging, and beautifully presented from start to finish. The BBQ was delicious, and the staff was amazing--friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. Whether you're a whiskey enthusiast or just looking for a unique experience, Uncle Nearest is well worth the visit. Highly recommend!

I've been quite a few times already and have some good times with friends and neighbors. The drinks are very good, the bartenders are nice and consistent with their drinks. It's a pretty everyday calm place to go have fun, get dressed up and enjoy live music and karaoke. I haven't been disappointed with this place nor the stuff they serve but having only one bathroom in the longest bar seems like a poor design or an afterthought. To get to the bathroom feels like walking half a mile from the far side. As someone who loves heels and drinks- this is not ideal. So, if you plan to go, you'll have fun and can be a nice place for a great date but do try to get a spot near the bathroom! Cheers!!!!!!

I was in town celebrating my birthday, and a visit to Nearest Green Distillery was at the very top of my list. Knowing even a portion of the history behind Uncle Nearest, I felt it was important to experience this place in person. After checking in at the front, I was placed in a group led by our guide, Xavier, and he truly made the tour exceptional. The tour itself was amazing, but what stood out most was the way Xavier spoke about the history. He shared the story of Uncle Nearest with such reverence and respect, not only for the man himself, but also for Tennessee whiskey, the distillation process, and the Uncle Nearest brand as a whole. One of the highlights of the tour was learning more about Uncle Nearest's origins and his invaluable contributions to Jack Daniel and Tennessee whiskey overall. The tour did a great job of dispelling long standing rumors of a rift between Uncle Nearest and Jack Daniel's, providing clear and thoughtful context that felt honest and well presented. I did the $35 tour, which lasted about an hour and a half and included a tasting of five different Uncle Nearest expressions. Xavier was patient throughout the tasting, knowledgeable, and it was very clear that he genuinely loves what he does. He created a welcoming environment and encouraged questions without ever making the experience feel rushed. After the tour, I visited the gift shop, which was very reasonably priced and offered a wide range of merchandise and bottles. While on the property, I also stopped by Humble Baron, the bar on site, which I will be reviewing separately. Overall, this was an excellent experience and a meaningful way to spend part of my birthday trip. The tour, the history, and the care put into telling Uncle Nearest's story made this visit well worth it. I would highly recommend Nearest Green Distillery to anyone visiting Tennessee or interested in whiskey history.

If you think you know Tennessee whiskey, you don't. At least, you don't until you visit the Nearest Greene Distillery. History. Origins. Truth. Lynchburg is good, no question, but Uncle Nearest is the real deal.

Amazing time visiting and learning about the history of the brand. Terrell was the absolute best guide ever and made the experience for us. Definitely a revisit is on the agenda for the near future.

We visited Nearest Green Distillery over the holiday break and had a great time. Xavier our tour guide was very personable, he made great recommendations - you could tell he was extremely passionate about the product. Not only did we have a great experience tasting some fine whiskey, but we also learned a lot about the spirit's history.

Everything about this distillery is top notch. The grounds, the staff, the food, the drinks, the service, everything! This was my third time out to NGD and it seems to get better every time. I recently joined their Fifty Six Society and they rolled out the red carpet. I even got to meet Nearest's great great granddaughter and master blender, Victoria Eady Butler! My most recent visit consisted of brunch at Humble Baron and a tour with our fantastic guide, Karen! Our waiter at HB left much to be desired but that was the only blemish on my experience at NGD. Karen is a fantastic tour guide and since she worked at Jack Daniel's, she weaves the history of the Daniel's and Green's seamlessly. You'll notice around the property there's numerous awards displayed and I'll be the first to say they deserve every single one! The whiskey is top notch and the tour is informative and fun, and society program is premium. You can tell the Weavers put all their heart into this company and I'm proud to support it any way I can. Do yourself a favor and take a visit to Shelbyville for a day. It'll be the best distillery you visit.

Tennessee is my second home. As a native from California, I have found that the history and culture of Tennessee fascinates me. The bestie, her family, and I participated in a tour at the Nearest Green Distillery. I'm an avid whiskey drinker so when the bestie recommended it, I was all in! I heard "stories" of the Uncle Nearest whiskey and of course stories get twisted and the result creates narratives that were never true. Our tour guide Julie was fantastic in sharing the history and story of the farm and family. Entering the speak easy made me feel like I walked into a time warp. I felt the spirit of the women who fought for women's rights and equality and the strength of the ancestors who came before us, forging a strong foundation for future generations. It took everything in me to not cry. Touring the grounds, taking in the scenery, smiling at the workers and sipping on four flavors of whiskey was truly memorable. I was able to taste history, passion, creativity and pride. Everything was absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. I was in awe. Thank you for sharing your story, thank for sharing the truth, and thank you for cultivating a whiskey that definitely stands above the rest. Blessings!

It was just loud enough to enjoy the music while still being able to relax and take in the space. Allisha took great care of us and was attentive and pleasant throughout our visit. For drinks, I ordered the French 95. I am usually a French 75 girl, but when in Tennessee, Tennessee whiskey is the obvious choice. The French 95 was delicious and very reasonably priced. For food, I ordered the smoked wings and fries, and both were excellent. The wings were a solid 10 out of 10 with great flavor, and the fries were just as good and paired perfectly with the drink. Overall, Humble Baron was an amazing experience. Between the atmosphere, music, service, drinks, and food, this is a place I will absolutely be returning to.

They did NOT disappoint!! I am officially hooked! From the moment we walked in, I could see and feel the sheer energy coming from the crowd and the ambiance: it already felt like great food and great people. It was packed to the brim for Wine Wednesday! They had one table available for two! Our server, Sarah, was outstanding!! She was sweeter than pie and extremely attentive! She always made sure we had exactly what we wanted when we wanted it. She advised sharing a bottle of wine since we wanted the same one, and since it was half price most wines. The young manager on duty delivered and uncorked the bottle, and she was just as sweet as Sarah! Her name escapes me, but I will find out the next time I go. The Spanish Tempranillo we tried was divine! It was perfectly balanced without being too dry or too tannic or too sweet. It was so smooth and thoroughly enjoyable to drink! For food, we started with the goat cheese bruschetta. It was perfection - rich in flavor and well balanced in the distribution of each component! From there, we tried the special of Steak Tips Au Pauvre - with a peppercorn wine sauce. We chose brussels sprouts as our side, and it also came with a side salad. We weren't too hungry, so we split it. Sarah even had the kitchen split both the salad and the main dish in half for us! The salad was so fresh (with ripe grape tomatoes!!) and the ranch dressing was classic and delightful. The wine sauce was everything I wanted it to be: rich, complex, thick, and buttery. It reminded me of the beautiful sauces you find on a steak or chicken dish at a sidewalk cafe in Paris. The dessert menu looked amazing, but we didn't have any room left. All I can say is you MUST try this place!!! If you can find Sarah, even better!

So much so, we kept talking about it over and over for several months until we broke down and went back. The second experience shattered the illusion we had of the first. Service was extremely rude and rushed from the moment we stepped into the front door and had to deal with a hostess in the worst mood possible for dealing face-to-face with clientele. To the waiter for the evening, who did not want to be bothered with us as they were "tending to a large party in the back". To the food and drinks, which - for the price - were extremely underwhelming. Other than their fries, which have always been good, everything seemed like it lacked the seasoning and pizazz that our meal did the first time we went in. Next go round, attempt at redemption, was met with similar vibes from the previous attempt. Not quite as rude of service, but still rushed/understaffed, and less-than-appetizing fare for the evening/price paid. Sure, everything looks good, but sometimes something is just off enough to clock and you can taste it just misses the mark for some reason or another. Last time we visited just for cocktails and dessert and while our server this time was more than friendly and very welcoming, the atmosphere was still very rushed and we were told yet again that they were 'understaffed' for the evening, so the servers were all darting around hustling as quickly as possible. Made for a less-than-inviting, not quite cozy atmosphere that, again - for the price out here in the burbs - wasn't what we were hoping for.
