Sometimes they will be extremely neat and safety conscious, and other times they will be messy and I am simply watching to see when they are going to fall off the roof (they haven''t yet I must admit; also knock on wood for the future). We have been using Ned Stevens for several years since they replaced our gutters. This company is great. The workers are friendly, efficient and take great care to protect your property while performing the gutter cleaning. We also use them to clean our dryer vent which is located on the 2nd floor and is 15 feet long. My dryer serviceman said he had never seen a vent so clear. A few years back one of the workers pointed out that our roof had a small area that was starting to sag. We called our roofer and he was able to repair it before it became a much larger issue. We would not have noticed it if it had not been for the Ned Stevens worker. You can't go wrong with this company. read more

I scheduled a new gutter installation with Ned Stevens at the end of April. I called back May 3rd to get my installation date, they said I didn't have one. The agent said I SHOULD have them out the week of May 17th. I called back Monday May 24th due to no show, they said it wasn't three weeks yet and they SHOULD be out that week. I called back Monday May 28th and the agent said the SHOULD be out that week. It's now June 10th and i've been more than patient with them, but all I get is should should should. Their home office gives no straight answers and will not give you the number to the local contractors. This is all after paying $431 down payment. Now I have to call back to try and get my money back and how much you want to bet they're going to tell me i SHOULD get my money back, if they agree to give it back at all. This company felt like a scam from the instant I hung up that first day and I should have cancelled before it got this far. I have been a customer of Ned Stevens service for several years now and have been pleased with their quality of work and reliability. I have engaged them for gutter cleaning services only. I'm on an annual service plan, which has worked well for us. There are four visits per year, scheduled for the fall/winter months. The service crews show up during those agreed-upon months consistently, though we never know exactly when they'll arrive. The crews work pretty fast, but in checking their work, they seem to be thorough. I was particularly pleased on this month's visit as, without being asked to do so, the crew blew off all the leaves from our porch and deck, which were not necessarily impacted by the gutter cleaning process--a nice extra step. This response is not true! They have spoken to us TWICE. The owner called us the day after our review was posted. He tried to buy us off by offering us the gutters at the original price and a free gutter cleaning. We refused, told him that we cannot trust them and do not do business with a dishonest company. Knowledgeable and efficient! I live in Chicago and I had a problem with my gutters habitually overflowing during flash floods. My initial contact with the company was impressive because the person was very knowledgeable and I felt less apprehensive about the process. My gutters had to be cleaned in order to make an informed analysis of whether I only needed the gutters cleaned or if I required something else. AVOID. First time customer, called to book an appointment for gutter cleaning. Representative took my info then blew through his up-sell techniques trying to get me to lock in for 4 cleanings per year. All I wanted was one cleaning to see how it went then I could possibly do a contract. He demanded my credit card info to continue the conversation. I stated I wanted to see what dates are good first before giving my financial info. He stated "we will be there within the month of August". What? He said over and over "it's outside work so you don't need to be home so we come by within the month". I said no, I wanted to be present when the techs are here because I want to go over a concern I have with one of the gutters. He stated again and again "it's outside work and you don't have to be home, we will call you with the results.". After explaining again that I wanted to book an actual appointment, he said that they have been doing it this way for 50 years. Once again I explained that I wanted to be home. He said rudely "ok sir, if you want to book an appointment for a certain day and window of time, that will be $47.00 extra". WHAT!!?? You've got to be kidding me. 47 bucks EXTRA to make an appointment rather than have them just show up when they felt like it within the next month. NOPE. Thankfully I did not give my credit card information before finding out this tidbit. I was able to find a local company where the owner is on every job, they came out and did a fantastic job for less money than this large national chain. Despite some of the negative reviews, I was satisfied with the timeliness and quality of work. They were here the day after I had called (on a very rainy day). Minor point- it would be better if they had put the debris in recyclable bags rather than the black plastic bags that can't be put in recycling. No drama, they did what I asked them to do. iv used ned stevens for over 3 years now but this past winter, due to all the snow we had, we had ice buildup in one of the gutters and it caused water to leak into my house so i called them a month or so ago to fix the issue and they were there the same day to remove the gutter which stopped the issue ned stevens came back out yesterday and installed a new gutter where they had to remove the old one and it looks great over all i had a great experience with ned steven's and definitely recommend them read more

I have used Ned Stevens for many years. Always a good job and good clean up. They will take the debris with them if you request that. Otherwise they will probably leave it at the curb, which is fine unless you're a week away from trash pick- up. They come to my home twice a year, early spring and late fall. They have never tried to bait and switch. This spring, I did have a problem with clean-up. They left a lot of debris in my flower beds and the perimeter of the house, which was so unusual for them. I called, talked to Mike, told him of my displeasure, and he issued me a credit for the next cleaning in the fall for my aggravation, with an apology . When I returned from work the next day, there was a plackard on my door that they had come back, and my debris was cleaned up. They did a great job. Of course they will advise if they see something that they think needs repair, but they are not pushy about it, Just say no, that works. They told me of some staining on the roof, that they have a cleaning service, but I said the roof was about 15+ years old, and he agreed that if wouldn't be worth cleaning if I was going to replace it soon. I have worked with Ned Stevens for the last couple of years. I should have stopped from the first iteration. They are upcharge and extra service specialists. Ask them to clean your gutters, sure, they'll do a passible job, but you'll come home to a note saying to call them because there's a problem. You call and they say "your exterior siding is dirty, we can clean it for $200, and your roof needs cleaning, we'll do that too, for another $200". I called to get a gutter fixed, they looked at it, did nothing, and guess what, got a $200 bill from them. I understand paying to have them come out and provide an expert opinion, but I cannot help but feel they took advantage of a situation. Getting them to do anything under warranty, I'd rather extract my own molars. I do not suggest starting to do business with them; they are difficult to work with, incompetent at times, and the work provided is nothing special that justifies their continual "scare you into more revenue" model. read more

My gutters were cleaned by Ned Stevens and on the invoice is a red-ink alarming message to call them as soon as possible because - what a surprise - their workers discovered that my gutters needed some repair. In a very caustic manner she explained that over $800.00 in repairs were necessary, after almost yelling at me that merely sealing the gutters doesn't work! I needed extensive gutters replacement. Having heard back from NO one, I get a second duplicate bill from New Jersey. They are run by a call center and have zero local accountability. I'm still finding popped seams from very shoddy work on my gutters, and a new roof leak where I asked them not to walk across the top of my roof. I can't blame them, they don't appear to be able to speak anything but Spanish. The in business since 1060s might be true, but they aren't here in WA state. Find a true local where you can actually speak to an meat a manager who will be accountable. Ask to see if they have L&I insurance-I did and got no reply. If they hang over your roof like mine it's an accident waiting to happen and a lawsuit you can be stuck with. Just my opinion based on first hand experience. N read more

I am glad I came on here to read review about Ned Stevens Gutters before I took a chance with themn. They are the most frustratig company to work with ever! They refuse to come out to look at this site first to make sure measurements are correct to replace gutters and downspot. They say they do not do that! REALLY. They will not give you a time or date they will do the job.They told me they will just show up. They also said the estimate is not right they will "walk away from the job" if you do not agree on the high cost then quoted. RED FLAG Their customer service is very arrogant and mean spirited. When I signed up with these guys to have my gutters cleaned, I thought I was dealing with a reliable local firm who knew how to treat customers. I was wrong. I agree with other posters who reported a very aggressive 'upsell' approach. I can live with this. What should have been a red flag was when they couldn't provide a date for the service, or even specify a week. I called back about 10 days later, but still they couldn't provide a date or even a week. The agent I spoke with was contentious, wanting to do all the talking and not letting me interrupt. This is a violation of the first rule of customer service: "Let the customer talk". He could only tell me it would be done before the Christmas Holidays (today is 11/30). I then did what I should have done in the beginning; I read Yelp. It seems that others are also complaining. I called again and apparently got the same guy who gave me the same treatment. Now I was really irritated. I told him I wanted to cancel the service. All of a sudden he told me he can get it done tomorrow! I declined. The moral of this story for me is what I already held sacred: Always get a small locally based company for your home services. I didn't realize it at first, but Ned Stevens is a national services company. These firms start out when they're small with good customer service values, but they get worse as they grow and their ethics become just a business equation and lip service.
