Customer service reps are inept, just reading from the same script over and over (would be funny on sitcom but irritating in real life). I had Ned Stevens install the larger gutter downspouts in june o 2023. It is now March of 2026 and over the winter, i find that one of my gutter downspouts installed in June of 2023 has come apart ( a 2 story downspout. It came apart over the winter winds because the sections were not screwed together. They will be coming out in the next 2 weeks and charging me another $150 to fix the problem that was created by them. This has nothing to do with their guarantees. They back nothing in their work. Negatives Sloppy work, left the water running in the lawn after a "power-wash" of the gutters. The power wash itself seemed like a low-pressure jet of water and seemed ineffective to do anything. They did remove a birds nest that was blocking the gutters Continuous upsell of other services at every step along the way. I recently contacted Ned's regarding concerns if our Gutters were draining properly in a home we recently moved into. The gutters drain directly into underground extension, so not easily visible. I was concerned above and below the house since previous owners were not conscientious about maintenance. The crew meticulously checked each down spout and gutter. My concerns were warranted a lot of debris stuck and removed in several drains. Two of the drains were completely restricted. They made sure each downspout clear and flowing. Cleaning was good and inexpensive. However, they will tell you that they "found an issue and the office will call you." The field people people won't tell you what the "issue" is. Buyer Beware! Took a chance on them. Company couldn't get a Fall gutter cleaning done until mid-December. Even then two cleaners just walked the roof with a blower, but did not get close enough to the edges to really blow out wet or stuck leaves from downspouts. It was not until a recent deluge we figured out a key downspout was clogged. My expectation was they would use ladders and hoses to thoroughly clean downspouts. I must've said that five times by now my husband is pretty pissed and we are looking into reporting them to the Better Business Bureau for harassment and unauthorized charges and work performed on my property at my house without permission. To be transparent I haven't had the service yet. I will update this when I do. I reached out last week to schedule it and there were a few things I didn't like. They don't actually schedule the service. They can come whenever. I have a dog and a fenced in yard so that feels inconvenient. I also didn't like that after it was "scheduled" I got an email that said in very fine print that they don't bag up the waste and can essentially just throw it in your yard unless you pay extra. I wouldn't have agreed to the service on the phone if I knew that. I hope it all works out and they come to the door when I'm home and bag everything and take it. Jerked us around for two and a half months. Then they cancelled the entire job and refunded the deposit. Multiple calls on my part to simply get them to even tell me what the issue was, their communication is less than satisfactory. Flat out stinks really. We were trying to be patient given the state of some businesses during and after the pandemic. We get it. Times are tough and labor is scarce. But work on the commz, that part should be understood. Tell folks what is going on. Seems easy. If you can't do the job since our two story house is too tall, maybe tell us that sooner than later. Cool, we'll move on and call someone else. It took six different installation attempts for them to do anything correctly. Every single cleaning they have damaged our house in some way with a ladder or not completed the cleaning fully. Most recently we just had them replace everything and cut open the wood of our house leaving exposed bare wood to get rotten. They are despicable terrible people and they don't know what the hell they're doing. Edit: we also found one downspout on our property that was hidden behind bushes so they never cleaned it and never told us and constantly blocked it up. After having been a client for a couple of years for gutter maintenance, their technicians recommended a relatively large repair that appeared legitimate. We called on November 20th, put done a sizable deposit on the work and they said they'd be out on or about December 20th. They were a no call/no show. When we followed up via phone call, we were told it should be a week or two and we were also told we weren't eligible for a refund on our deposit. Another no call/no show. The no call/no shows went on for literally three months. At this point, the damage had become much worse, causing damage to the roof and siding. Then we were told they had no idea when we would be serviced and every customer service rep we spoke with was cocky, arrogant and abrasive. After another series of phone calls we were finally given a refund so we could afford to call someone else to fix the original issue and the new damage caused by this company's deliberate indifference. Every time we called we got a different excuse why the work was delayed from weather, to supply issues to then it being our fault for not scheduling work that we in fact scheduled on their recommendation. After a couple estimates, a local company was able to come out within four days, charge us far less and guarantee their work. This company uses predatory practices that are wildly unethical. Sometimes ok, but often very frustrating to deal with. They never give you a solid date. They come out at their leisure with a text warning of a couple minutes, and then they'll _not_ perform a service (but not tell you why), and they'll charge you anyway, leaving it up to you to call in and deal with their often rather clueless phone operators. It's often unclear what you've paid for and what they still owe you. The phone operators will try hard to upsell you all the time - presumably it's how these rubes are evaluated/compensated. Also these idiots now think I have a "plastic" roof (it's ceramic) and now they wont clean my gutters, despite having done so many times prior. So Ned Stevens continued to send e-mails stating that I did not pay my bill...even though I could not make an appointment without given them my CC. I finally called them again and they never processed it. They said they will bill me now (after this horrible service...see my review below). I told them I wanted some sort of credit for the incredibly poor and sloppy work they did. They offered me $25 off. ARE THEY KIDDING? I can't even get lunch for that. This review is not about the actual service because it never got completed. I contacted them to clean my gutters. Set up for recurrent cleaning throughout the year. I then get a call (15 days later) informing me that they could not clean my gutters because of safety issues (height of my home, space between my home and my neighbors which is a standard gangway). My complaint is that if you have been in this business for so many years, shouldn't you have the equipment and ability to accommodate people's homes, or let customer's know up front that the service can't be agreed to until viewing the property. After booking with this company over the phone and receiving their GUARANTEED quote, it took them over a month to get here. The quote was based on my exact description of the size of the house and height they would be dealing with. The techs finally arrived today and left as they felt the job was underquoted. I requested a call from management who did call me stating that the job was too dangerous - an outright lie. The techs did not say it was dangerous, they felt the house was bigger than expected so they want twice what was quoted me. I have never felt so deceived and low balled in the 40 years of homeownership. Knowing my gutters were in need of attention, they took advantage thinking we would pay twice what we were quoted. If I could give them zero stars, I would. Hired them for a gutter cleaning and they never performed the job. Got a variety of different reasons (safety, weather, too many jobs during the day, etc) but I kept getting texts that I was "next in line" and nobody would show and then they would send me an email saying they tried coming when I was there the entire time! I spent hours on the phone trying to find out what was going on only to be told it was too unsafe for them. Called for gutter cleaning was told they would be out within a week. 10 days later they did not show and when I called I sat on hold for 20 minutes. When I finally got a hold of someone, they told me someone would call in 48 hours. Did not get a call. Called the next day and they told me they would not clean my gutter b/c it was a Chicago gangway width. What? They literally could Google my building to see it was a standard Chicago property with a gangway. Sorry I wasted 10 days for them to do nothing. I can't speak to their quality of work, only because they never showed up after making an appointment for gutter cleaning over 4 months ago. However, the level of professionalism from this company was the worst I've ever experienced. I made an appointment for gutter cleaning in early October for Ned Stevens to come out the week after Thanksgiving... they never showed. I called them and they said they'd be sending someone out... they never showed. I called again to ensure someone was coming out... within weeks, I kept getting the same text message from them saying they couldn't perform the service. When I called, I spoke to a "manager" who said it was due to weather being bad. I argued with him because the temperatures were way above normal, we had little to none precipitation (at that point), and he became very argumentative with me. A few months go by and I get the same song and dance from them, and just yesterday (1/22/23), I received a voicemail saying that they cannot perform the service due to the height of my roof. So after all this time and after all the lies, they completely changed the narrative as to why they could not perform the job. Should have read the recent reviews on this company before booking them, please take this one to heart and look elsewhere! If I could give them 0 stars, I 100% would. read more

I needed a estimate on gutters for my garage, they stated they could clean and inspect the gutters for $156.87 on my garage and house, I never received an estimate on gutter replacement but I did get a bill for $156.87 for gutter cleaning and they wanted me to sign up for 4 more cleanings, I never paid a price that high for gutter cleaning on a small bungalow, they told me my gutters were fine, Gutters were not, they were leaking and flooding my garage for quite sometime. The Ned Stevens gutter cleaning team showed up today around 10:45.  I happened to glance out my window, saw them talking to each other, then seemingly start to get back in their truck.  I ran out, thinking maybe they thought I wasn't home.  They stopped long enough to tell me the neighboring buildings were too close and they could not get their ladders in place, so they could not clean the gutters.  We have had gutter cleaning done before successfully.  We also had the gutters repaired this past fall.  Three companies came out to give a quote.  Not one company looking at our gutters has ever said they couldn't get their ladder up and that the neighbor's houses were too close.  No one has ever been unable to provide service to our gutters.  The Ned Stevens team did a quick eyeball of the home and started to leave without providing service and without attempting to talk to me first to explain.  It was pure good luck that I saw them myself and was able to catch up with them to be given any reason as to why they were leaving without doing the job. NO STARS! These guys are HORRIBLE! Please move one to someone else! I ordered gutter cleaning and extensions on a downspout. Their service is terrible The gutter cleaners arrived without notice, jumped on my house without my knowledge while I was on a conference call, cleaned the gutters then left. The gutter extension was to take place a week later and SEVERAL WEEKS later two guys show up 5 minutes after I received my "advance" notice text again while I'm working and on conference calls all day for my job, lied to me and told me my downspouts were oversized and could not perform the service when my downspouts are 2" x 3"!!! I called to complain after having waited for weeks to get this done and these two jokers lied to Ned Stevens saying the houses were too close together to perform the service. OMG! I spoke to three different representatives to get a manager and the manager left me a voicemail, never spoke to me to get the details but said they couldn't perform the service because the houses were too close. The side of the house in need of the extension has 10 ft of space to do the work. WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD. NOT WORTH THE HASTLE!! read more
