Dark chocolate pumpkin bread, iced matcha latte
    Dana S.

I'm really impressed with Needmore Coffee so far, mostly because it's the first place that I've found a truly good matcha latte in Bloomington, but my latte and pastries were also great and I like the vibe. The baristas are professional and super friendly. They have some very interesting specialty drinks and unique syrup flavours. Eats include a variety of baked goods (with a few vegan and GF options) and a few panini. I tried a hummingbird latte, which is inspired by hummingbird cake and flavoured with vanilla, pineapple, and banana syrup, walnut bitters, and cinnamon. I got it half sweet but was a little worried that it would still be really sweet with all those flavours, but it didn't overpower the coffee. The matcha latte with cardamom syrup was, again, legit - the matcha was strong but smooth and the cardamom syrup enhanced the flavour without masking the matcha. I really liked the cap of frothed milk even though it was an iced latte. The two pastries I tried were the vegan lemon poppy seed cake and dark chocolate pumpkin bread - both tasty and fresh. The pumpkin bread was more substantial than it looked at first glance. It's a medium-sized shop. They have a number of tables as well as a few chairs by the coffee bar inside, and a few picnic tables outside. It's comfortable and unpretentious. Looking forward to coming back for more and relieved to know I can get a good matcha in Bloomington!

Awesome Bloomington coffee shop. It is a small place, 5-6 tables and a counter up front. Espressos are crisp and very pungent. This is a local, homey, backwoodsy and also upscale coffee spot. Needmore Coffee truly astounds. Wonderful staff that's happy and delivers hot, fresh, flavorful coffee. Bring some friends and something to read. Serves lemonades and sweet treats! Review: 5

Met a friend today at Needmore Coffee and while I normally don't write reviews other than full restaurant experiences, I thought I'd write a short review because they earned it. Then I spent 30 minutes trying to figure out the name of my drink, and no luck. So I'll say this: Needmore is a cute little shop near the Bloomington College Mall, not a lot of seating but a cozy feel. The drink I ordered was delish but again I have no idea what it's called. It's toasted marshmallow and some other things. You'll know it when you're looking at the menu. I also had a cinnamon muffin that was really good. The issue that made me write this review was simply how nice the barista was as well as the guy who took my order. I actually wanted an iced toasted whatever this is called, but didn't say that. 100% my fault. But when I picked up my order and mentioned it they offered to let me keep this one and make a new one for me. I declined (honestly I had second thoughts while at my table looking at how gloomy it was outside and that I wished I had ordered hot) - maybe they read my mind. Either way, great coffee, neat place, I recommend. Thanks to the staff, they were very gracious and friendly.

Overall, a cozy coffee shop perfect for completing some work on a Sunday morning. The gal at the register was kind and friendly. The coffee was solid. Plenty of little tables inside to do some work. There were also a few lounge chairs and some outside seating. The only thing is that they closed at noon on Sunday. Besides that, highly recommend.

the coffee aroma of this cafe is so pleasing. the panini is understated but amazing. all the goodies are yummy, the pour over Nicaragua is out of the world

I needed the coffee to be better and I also needed the general atmosphere to be better. Maybe some background music? Maybe a better attitude exuding a welcoming spirit and gratitude of my patronage from lazy college student tending counter? We popped in as we were buzzing through B-Town and I prefer to support the little guy (not the big coffee chains), but not sure Needmore helps me defend my actions. As a crazy committed straight up regular coffee person, not sure this blend meets my minimal standards of quality. It might have been over roasted. It Needs More of something, but not certain I will return to know.

Needmore is a fantastic stop if you're looking to support a woman-owner business, drink some amazing coffee, or chill out in a beautifully sunlit space. Needmore has a slightly industrial-chic vibe, but it's homey, like a family cabin with a few pipes exposed to let you see the inner workings. There's abundant seating, outlets for charging, huge windows (yay natural light!), and great music. They have coffee roasts that benefit different local partners, and special roasts that harken to specific places (like the Cowle's Bog Roast!). Their baked goods are amazing (the tart was lightly sweet and the berries were fresh), and their drinks are amazing. Whether you're getting a regular coffee or a signature drink like the Bobcat (maple and molasses and black walnut butters, oh my!), you're sure to love Needmore.

On this particular outing a friend was eager to take my husband and I to his favorite coffee shop in his hometown of Bloomington, ID. Hopscotch Coffee & Kitchen sits right in along the Bloomington Rail Trail. The setting of the cafe is calm, inviting, and simple. A large porch welcomes you to the shop; it's obviously a local favorite. When you enter the shop the coffee bar is to the right, comfortable couch seating along with work tables and cafe tables are to the left. If you want something more than a coffee and a treat there is a restaurant towards the back on your left. The cortado was delicious and the company was priceless. I hope you're able to share a cortado with someone soon. It's a good way to turn something ordinary into something special. Enjoying life one cortado at a time!

Definitely the college vibe of the decade, no one talks and has their faces on a Saturday planted in the computer. If not being socially inclined just sit in the dorm/apartment. The sweets were pricey but tasty. You can sit on the porch, inside or get out of there (never liked tolerated but liked a place so much as this spot). The cashier was swamped, asked about her having help, which I was told she was cleaning (4p), but she finally slithered over to help get orders rolling.

I visited twice for a breakfast and a lunch. Lunch: I had a Black Russian sandwich and a pot of Emperor's Pride tea. The sandwich, which is a vegetarian version of a Reuben with roasted veggies instead of meat, was delicious. They really piled on the veggies. Some fell out of the sandwich, but I just ate them with the home fries. The home fries also were nicely seasoned. The tea was a little off. It's possible it was the tea itself that didn't taste how I expected, but it kind of tasted like I was getting the flavour of a different tea in the pot. Breakfast: Apple pancake and bouquet latte (seasonal special - lavender Ceylon tea latte with honey and rose syrup). The bouquet latte was wonderful and had this beautiful red swirl latte art. The pancake was nice and fluffy. One pancake is something like $5, but one is enough for a complete meal, maybe with a protein side if you're especially hungry. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel welcome. The food didn't take very long even though they seemed busy.

They were…read moreplaying music the first time but the second time there was no music and it was pretty much silent since there were few customers. First visit: I got a matcha latte and caramel apple muffin the first time. The matcha latte was pretty weak. It comes with vanilla syrup by default and I guess I can see why, but I asked for mine with no syrup and I'm still glad I did because I don't know if I would have been able to taste the matcha at all if there was any flavoring. The apple muffin looked good (all the muffins in the display actually looked really good) but tasted kind of freezer burnt. I wanted to give them another chance and the second visit was better. Got a blueberry cheesecake muffin and an iced matcha with lavender cold foam. It may have been unwise to get matcha again but I just didn't have an appetite for anything else, and the drink was actually pretty good this time. It seemed like it was made a little stronger and the lavender cold foam was VERY good. The muffin was alright. A little generic but not freezer-burnt. It was called blueberry cheesecake, but there was no cream cheese. Maybe it was infused into the muffin because I thought I could taste the cheesecake flavor, but that could very well have been placebo effect. I might give them a few more tries because again, some of the muffins did LOOK very good, and I was compelled by the cold foam matcha. I kind of like the quietness. It's probably better for flavored drinks since it looks like that's what the most effort has gone into on the menu - they have lots of syrups and posters up everywhere for the specialty drinks (the images look AI-generated though, which is uninspiring). Nice if you just want somewhere quiet.

Seriously do not get any of the pastries or baked goods here they are gross.

They were very busy on a Saturday morning (around 10:45am)…read more They have a decent amount of seating for the size of the space, but it wasn't enough for the amount of people coming in with various group sizes. I snagged a bar stool at a three top. I'd planned to write for a while, and it wasn't a very comfortable seat, but I made do. And I did enjoy all the natural light. Ordered a large matcha with coconut milk. They do have oat milk and almond milk as well--plus one for having dairy free options! I don't think I was charged extra for it either. (Thank you for that!) Their drink prices overall seemed very reasonable, and more affordable than several local coffee shops I've been to recently. I appreciated that! Other non-coffee options I noticed: hot teas, iced tea, chai. The matcha was good, but I kept getting this weird chemical-y smell from my drink? At first I thought it was the lid. Took that off, but still caught the smell whenever I took a sip. I think it was coming from the cup itself, like the inside white part. So when there was a lull, I took it back up to the register and explained because I couldn't drink it. They didn't offer to remake the drink, which I found kind of odd, but they gave me an iced coffee cup and I drank the rest of my thankfully not-too-hot-anymore matcha from it. I don't know what that was about, but it was unfortunate. Ended up moving to a round table in the side room to plug my laptop in after the battery died. It wasn't as "vibey" over there, but it was quieter/easier to focus, I had access to an outlet, and noticed no strange smells on that side, though my drink was gone by then. If you're coming here to talk or hang out, I think it's a good spot! If you're coming to work, I'd recommend having a fully charged laptop, beeline to the side room, and/or watch carefully for the tables near the limited outlets to free up in the main room. Street parking was pretty easy and free. I parked maybe halfway down Main St and walked. There were signs saying 3 hr parking on weekends, so planned my stay accordingly. I'm not usually in this area, so may or may not make it back. But it's definitely a popular spot with a good sized menu.

The cookies and muffins and cinnamon roll just seem to melt in your mouth (I'm sure lots of butter is involved). They even have a very good vegan coffee cake! The drinks are not great and consistency is not the name of the game. Maybe the coffee is better than the tea, but the chai tastes more of sugar and cinnamon than tea, and the matcha was very murky, but maybe that's because I got the strawberry matcha and that affected the colour. It didn't taste bad but just didn't taste like quality matcha. They have decent teabags, but the brand and selection varies and is not what's listed on the menu board. They can do a tea latte but don't always have teas that work well with milk. I like the iced tea they make during the summer better than the hot tea. They sometimes have bubble tea, which is made with a machine and is decent (as far as artificially flavoured tea goes) but very sweet. It's a complete gamble as to whether or not the bubble tea machine will actually be on at any given time. I tried to get it in the evening once but was told they usually power it down around 6, so came back around 4:30 next time, but it was off again. I finally did manage to get bubble tea a few times around lunch time and in the morning, but there have also been days where they don't turn it on at all despite displaying the posters for it. Tapioca pearls are on the menu but they seemingly never have them, only the popping pearls. The baristas are students and are sometimes friendly, sometimes not. I would guess there's a combination of high turnover and poor training because some of them just seem very confused. They usually do okay at keeping the line moving though. I come for the baked goods, and just get a drink while I'm at it because I don't want to wait in another line at Starbucks even though I actually think Starbucks makes slightly better drinks.
