We've been wanting to visit Daily Grind Coffee House for awhile, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The cabin atmosphere is incredibly cozy -- the kind of place you want to slow down and stay awhile. It has that perfect Nashville, IN charm that makes you feel instantly comfortable. We ordered the iced blueberry pancake latte and the orange spice tea, and both were so good. The latte was unique and flavorful without being overly sweet, and the tea was warm, fragrant, and perfectly balanced. This was a bittersweet return for me. Adored Hal (even though he's a Green Bay fan lol ) and his lovely wife. So I was eager to stop by after a much too long hiatus to see them. It has been sold. I knew the second I walked in and didn't see them at the counter. New owners are wonderful and kind. Place was changed a bit and really opened up the space - making it seem much larger. If you stay at Artist Colony Inn, you can almost hit this place with a stone from the balcony. Walk over, enjoy a coffee. Slow down, take a deep breath and leave the office behind. I have so many times in the past, I missed seeing Hal - times change as expected. I'm glad the right people were found to carry on his legacy. I had hoped to introduce him to my better half - a Cleveland Brown's fan as I knew the banter that would ensue lol . If you visit during the peak season, please remember how hard these people work and have patience. My better half and I were there in June - town was hopping (Father's Day weekend) but nowhere near the pile ups I have seen in fall many times, They work hard to keep tourists (like us) happy and wanting to come back. Oh- I had a sugar free vanilla iced latte with whole milk - my signature drink most days. Made perfect and delivered with a smile. On my last visit to Nashville, in was a cool and drizzly October day, so I stopped in here to get a hot cup of coffee. The place is tucked away in a courtyard behind Madeline's. When I entered, I stepped into a dining area with a fireplace and lots of closely packed round tables for 2 or 3. Off to the right was a smaller room that had the order counter, some pastries, and lots of coffee beans and flavor bottles for sale. I decided to add a lemon blueberry scone to my black coffee. They had four to choose from and I went with one that was a medium blend. The staff was friendly and asked me a few questions about my coffee preferences to make sure I got a cup that would be most satisfactory. I grabbed a spot after paying and enjoyed my purchases. The scone was fresh, not dry or hard. Very light though I was a little surprised it had a light glaze of icing on it. Nice flavor. The coffee was right on the borderline of being too hot, but it was drinkable and indeed had a rich, but medium roast flavor. Good coffee, good pastry, and nice people behind the counter. The nostalgia of past visits brought me here. The clean fresh appearance and kind welcome will bring me back again. We had biscuits and gravy and a bacon, egg, and Gouda croissant. This strange experience might have been caused by the fact that they were closing out their breakfast service for the day, but .... I've never seen such bizarre eggs in my life except in hospitals and primary schools. I was ravenous and wanted to support a small, local business rather than getting a McSomething from a drive-thru. So, I made my way to this cozy coffeehouse in Nashville. I ordered a cheese & egg muffin (as they were sold out of biscuits) and a hot chocolate. The hot chocolate (2.95) was the grocery store variety, but the large helping of canned, whipped cream on top helped to elevate it a bit. I took my mug and moved into the seating area. They were very busy so I was lucky to snag a corner booth from a couple that was leaving. The a/c on the wall next to me kept vibrating my table, not a good thing. After about 5 minutes or so, someone brought me a very pale, breakfast sandwich. The English muffin was barely toasted with only a hint of color or heat. The eggs had the texture of small pebbles. The flavor and mouthfeel was so bad that I pulled the muffin (and some of the American cheese slice) off the so-called egg and ate those. I left the heap of yellow stuff on my plate. I think they must have been powdered or liquid (or from the most unusual chickens that ever produced). A person clearing a nearby table asked if I needed anything taken away, but she didn't inquire about if there was come thing wrong with the eggs. Granted, the sandwich cost less than $3, but I'd have been better off with a fast food breakfast. At least with the big chains, I don't expect them to care about my dining experience. I guess the tourist trade keeps prices up and customers always coming through here at least once. Disappointed to be sure. read more

The death of a restaurant is never pleasant but this is what is happening at the Daily Grind. This place has been a Nashville anchor for years and still has so much potential. However, the current atmosphere and food is so-so at best. You order at the counter from the wall-mounted menu covered in Post-It notes. Quite a messy arrangement. We ordered the Belgian waffle with bacon and the Espresso Eggs. We also got a side of hash browns with sausage, bacon, and cheese. We also had two coffees. If you get a coffee they are quick to tell you that you only get two refills. Odd. The waffle was fine but the bacon was small, thin, and lacking. From the looks of it the bacon was microwaved. The Espresso Eggs was average and seemed to be their attempt at an omelet of some sort. The "hash browns" tasted of frozen processed food. The good...They have lots of coffee choices. Upwards of 20-30 different kinds of whole beans. The short...If you want coffee beans this is the place for you. If you want breakfast there are better options a few block away. read more

His comments made me extremely uncomfortable. I had trouble opening the door and he said it was because I was a woman. And other various "women are weak" comments. I was like ok, whatever, I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that. But then he wouldn't let it go. And he belittled me when I ordered an iced black coffee saying I better not bring it back when my ice melts like all the other women do. Extremely dissatisfied with the owner/manager/awful man that hides behind his register. My boyfriend and his two children made a special trip to Nashville today to have breakfast and afterwards, go to The Daily Grind for me to pick up some coffee beans. There were MAYBE as many patrons in there as there were employees and NOBODY ordering coffee or looking at the variety of beans (which is rare in my past experiences.) My boyfriend's son, as boys do, starts to touch one of the bean dispensers. That man must have been staring us down because faster than his dad could tell him to stop (which is fast) that man is already telling him to stop and he can't be messing with those. Geez, we are responsible people, if kids spill/break something, we buy it or make it right... Whatever, we shrug it off and my boyfriend goes to the restroom. On to what REALLY upset me... I located the wall of non flavored, international beans and was looking for a golden Sumatra that I'm used to buying at The Coffee & Tea Exchange, which also requires a special trip and would rather buy locally. With the kids still standing by the "precious" coffee and their dad in the restroom, I decided it was probably better/safer to have them sit at the closest table right beyond the area that you order. Before I could even turn around to ask about the one Sumatra I did see, that miserable man said they could not sit there because the boy had a cookie and was eating it from another restaurant (where we just came from breakfast.) He claimed health code violation reasons which I know is a PURE LIE, you can bring whatever you wish into a restaurant as long as you do not try to sell or feed it to the other patrons. I don't know if this man thought we were going to just use him for his bathroom, burn his place down, of if he was still devastated from how bad his dear Packers got beat by the Cowboys last week as he was wearing a Packers jersey today and my boyfriend was wearing his Cowboys jersey. I would sure hope that wouldn't be the case... I will never step foot in this establishment again and strongly advise others to find alternative options. After reading some other reviews and by how empty it was in there today, we must not be the only ones that have been treated poorly. read more

The Daily Grind Coffee house is a nice respite from the craziness that you sometimes get with Nashville. We happened to be there on a Friday in February (anomalous 60 degree day) so the town was quiet. The staff are generally very nice and service is quick, but this visit was a bit ... odd. When I asked the man working the register for a chai latte, he quickly turned on his "woman mocking voice" and asked if I wanted skim milk. To which I replied, "yes please". He continued to make fun of me (and referenced all the other women who requested skim milk throughout that week) saying that they make a big batch (they used some pre-packaged mix - nothing special) and sometimes they use skim and sometimes they don't. This week happened to be 2%. From there, I said I didn't want the chai latte and he responded with something along the lines of "2% won't hurt you"...and wouldn't drop it. I let Scott order his drink and walked over to look at the whole bean coffees...only to hear him make fun of me wanting skim milk again. I still enjoy the atmosphere here but to a lesser extent. The rudeness and lack of professionalism were quite disappointing. read more

This is a very cute coffee shop in a hidden spot off the main strip in Nashville. Everything was super reasonably priced but they do have a $5 credit minimum (which is fine but I didn't notice until AFTER ordering so I picked up a cookie for a friend). The staff was super friendly but my main issue I had was with my order. I ordered a plain black iced coffee and it was pretty bad. According to their menu, the iced coffee is literally hot coffee poured over ice. The drink I got tasted like stale old coffee over ice. It was really disappointing. I'm not in this area often (this was actually my first trip to Nash, IN) but I don't think I would come back for another cold drink. I'd be willing to try a hot brew once I get the taste of the stale iced coffee out of my mouth. The place is super super cute though. read more

My dad implored me to give this little place a try, which I did. A couple snags before I get to the good stuff. The website doesn't have hours or an address, so make sure you call. My GPS was uber-wrong about the location. And it's hidden -- like everything in downtown Nashville -- in a little shopping area. Prepare to wander. Just prepare. Once you get in, though, it's a cute establishment. They have a small but tasty breakfast selection. And their Americano (double, man style) was excellent. You wouldn't believe how many terrible Americanos I've had. (Starbucks the other day gave me coffee -- COFFEE -- and cold water. I wish I was lying.) I've read lots of shitty reviews about this place. I must have caught them on a bad day because everyone was pleasant to me and the food was good. Apparently they messed up being jerks. Jerks. Next time I'm in town, I'll starting my weekend here. For sure. read more

If you're looking for good coffee in Nashville IN this is the place to go. It's kind of hard to find, located back in the artist's colony. There was a long line but there is a long line for everything in Nashville. All I wanted was an iced coffee, but the menu was confusing. I ended up with an iced something or other on recommendation of the barista, but it tasted good with a decent coffee taste. If I'm in Nashville again I'll probably go back here because there isn't any other option for a handcrafted coffee beverage. BTW the place is for sale so not sure how long it will stay open. read more
