    Village Latte

The Village Latte is my favorite! This little coffee shop is truly a Hallmark movie scene cafe. Everything from the creaky door with a bell, to the bustling of people, and the gardens and alley just outside. They roast their own beans and have tons of bagged beans for sale. Service is a little slow but is friendly!

    our four delicious drinks

went with friends and all four of our drinks were absolutely amazing! great atmosphere/aesthetic and they even had some live music going while we sipped on our drinks. wondering experience and speedy service, definitely a new go-to spot for us! especially loved the faith-based elements incorporated into the business and decor. 10/10 would recommend! :)

On my last visit to Nashville, in was a cool and drizzly October day, so I stopped in here to get a hot cup of coffee. The place is tucked away in a courtyard behind Madeline's. When I entered, I stepped into a dining area with a fireplace and lots of closely packed round tables for 2 or 3. Off to the right was a smaller room that had the order counter, some pastries, and lots of coffee beans and flavor bottles for sale. I decided to add a lemon blueberry scone to my black coffee. They had four to choose from and I went with one that was a medium blend. The staff was friendly and asked me a few questions about my coffee preferences to make sure I got a cup that would be most satisfactory. I grabbed a spot after paying and enjoyed my purchases. The scone was fresh, not dry or hard. Very light though I was a little surprised it had a light glaze of icing on it. Nice flavor. The coffee was right on the borderline of being too hot, but it was drinkable and indeed had a rich, but medium roast flavor. Good coffee, good pastry, and nice people behind the counter. Interior has had a face lift. Still enough of the original that you know where you are but bright and fresh.

The nostalgia of past visits brought me here. The clean fresh appearance and kind welcome will bring me back again. We had biscuits and gravy and a bacon, egg, and Gouda croissant. The biscuits and gravy were flaky and delicious. The eggs on the croissant were flavorful and seasoned really well. We also have a hot chocolate and a mocha latte which were both great.

    Strange eggs

This strange experience might have been caused by the fact that they were closing out their breakfast service for the day, but .... I've never seen such bizarre eggs in my life except in hospitals and primary schools. I was ravenous and wanted to support a small, local business rather than getting a McSomething from a drive-thru. So, I made my way to this cozy coffeehouse in Nashville. I ordered a cheese & egg muffin (as they were sold out of biscuits) and a hot chocolate. The hot chocolate (2.95) was the grocery store variety, but the large helping of canned, whipped cream on top helped to elevate it a bit. I took my mug and moved into the seating area. They were very busy so I was lucky to snag a corner booth from a couple that was leaving. The a/c on the wall next to me kept vibrating my table, not a good thing. After about 5 minutes or so, someone brought me a very pale, breakfast sandwich. The English muffin was barely toasted with only a hint of color or heat. The eggs had the texture of small pebbles. The flavor and mouthfeel was so bad that I pulled the muffin (and some of the American cheese slice) off the so-called egg and ate those. I left the heap of yellow stuff on my plate. I think they must have been powdered or liquid (or from the most unusual chickens that ever produced). A person clearing a nearby table asked if I needed anything taken away, but she didn't inquire about if there was come thing wrong with the eggs. Granted, the sandwich cost less than $3, but I'd have been better off with a fast food breakfast. At least with the big chains, I don't expect them to care about my dining experience. I guess the tourist trade keeps prices up and customers always coming through here at least once. Disappointed to be sure.

I wish I wanted some baked goods while I was here, because this place has all of the homemade-looking baked goods. Peanut butter cookies in a Tupperware container, bread pudding covered in plastic wrap, apple pie in a metal pie dish. All of the baked goods look like they were made by someone's grandma. I had anticipated my visit for a little while now but I can imagine I'd be delighted to find this spot on an adventure through the area. The vast plant nursery was also delightfully unexpected. The inside of the Farmhouse is just like a farmhouse, with the most charming interior that feels like Thanksgiving dinner with a collection of all the tables and chairs that you could find in your house to host everyone. First course, delightfully unexpected, was queso and chips! Free of charge, we were served a nice Rotel-style queso dip with multigrain chips. Yum! The tea selection is nice, it's all bagged teas that you get a small pot of. I got a salted caramel tea. Delish! Delightfully unexpected! I got the chicken salad sandwich with kettle chips. I love a chicken salad sandwich and this one hits the spot. We split a slice of peach pie for dessert that was just lovely and warmed up for us. All courses arrived pretty quickly. I would definitely recommend a stop to the Farm House on your trips to Brown County. I hope I can make more road trips in my future plans as soon as I can so I can visit again!
