I've been to Neehee's many times and this visit I wanted to make sure to leave a note. This meal was a Tuesday early evening, and was my son's first visit. For a kid with sensory sensitivity, this was the perfect timing to dine in. I was a bit sad to see the restaurant so empty and hope it was largely our timing. However, I can't negate the construction and horrible economic conditions as questionable contributors. The space is vast, clean, and today was peaceful. Generally, it's a lively atmosphere, cricket and kids in the background, and lots of gathering and conversations. The staff is always friendly and warm. One of the staff made sure to come by our table to check in mid-meal. It's a simple gesture and it makes me feel warm and welcome. We ordered gobi manchurian, masala dosa, veg fried rice, a mango lassi for my son and sugar cane juice for me. My son's favorite was the masala dosa- a comforting blend of flavors and textures, sambar was absolutely scrumptious. I practically inhaled my gobi, which is one of my favorite dishes. Perfect spice/heat level, well balanced and nice crunch from the bell peppers and onions. The veg fried rice was a safe third dish in the event my son was craving something familiar, and it ended up being satisfying but our least favorite of the order. I will say it was prepared well and I love the threads of vegetables throughout. Mango lassi was a nice buffer for some of the heat for my son, and my sugar cane juice was a surprisingly savory/sweet quencher for the ride home. Oh. And a scoop of butterscotch ice cream for the boy. Overall I am a loyal Neehee's fan and look forward to many more visits. read more

Visited late on a Tuesday evening and was greeted by courteous employees who walked me through their elaborate menu while recommending some dinner options. I ended up getting their Mysore Masala Dosa and Dahi Samosa Chaat. The dosa was good but didn't really have that kick or the authentic flavor I was hoping for. The sambar was too watered for my taste. The samosa chaat however checker off all the flavor boxes. The chaat was tangy, but not too spicy and absolutely delish. They have a lot of seating that makes me think they probably get crowded on weekends and holidays. read more

Excellent food. Vegan and gluten free. I know they source food from same place and preparation is identical between locations but I still think for some reason that this location has better food quality and tastes more authentic as compared to one in Canton. I had opportunity to try Pav Bhaji, Chole Bhature, pani puri, Dahi puri, alu paratha and Samosa chat from both location just one day after another twice. I would definitely recommend to try it if you're fan of chaats. Dahi puri is my go to. Bhature have become less oil over the years. Pav bhaji is nice and so is puri bhaji. I am not a fan of sambar here, even if I get dosa, I stick to masala dosa and eating chutney and bhaji. Dabeli is also a good option. Mango lassi and Faluda are great but very sweet, if you're on diet, skip it. As of 2024, they have launched lunch combos which is a great business idea and so is for customer. You can try a meal and chat item for $15 with some dish restrictions. Wait time is usually around 30-45 minutes on busy Saturday evening, other than that day it's pretty manageable. Service staff is very friendly and even in busy times they'll make sure you have a good experience. They could use some more parking, gets really busy on weekends. I have been ordering food for over 2 yrs now. I have been their regular customer and spend over $200 every month. Recently quality of food and service has been very very bad. My friend told me but never believed until I had that experience. I would never go there again. They have no customer service, but expect Tips. When I escalated the issue, they said there is no one there and they will have to call their owner and it took 20 mins and came back saying they cannot do anything. Before you go there please think twice . Never order delivery. They really need to learn and treat their customers well. Hope one of the days they will learn that. Also lastly to the owners if they are looking at this post, for any delivery please add $1 automatically to the cost and give separate packaging as it does not make sense to get chaat papdi as it, as by the time I take home it gets soggy. read more

Always busy- a good sign in my opinion. Staff is helpful, quick, and efficient. Great with offering suggestions and listening to what you like and you don't like. It's definitely a family setting, lots of long tables and trays for meals. Though, it also makes grabbing a spot to sit difficult if you're not with your family. The tables were dirty the last time I dined here, and every single item we ordered was bland. The Kesar Pista Falooda was the worst I've had and the four other people I ate with didn't even want the drink. Loved the food! I regret not taking pictures but the food is so good here. A self service place which has thalis, South Indian food, chaat options and Gobi Manchuria which is street style is so so good (the best I have had so far in the US). Apart from the Manchurian, loved the masala dosa, crispy and tasty. Chole bature was good, Papdi chaat was good and their gujarati thali is so filling and delicious. NeeHee's is a delightful cacophony of sights, sounds, and smells. I ordered to go, but there were plenty of people eating in, in the large, well lit, neatly furnished dining room. There were groups from two to over a dozen, each comfortably seated with privacy from the others. Bollywood-style music played at a pleasant level, appearing not to interfering with conversation, but loud enough that I could enjoy it while waiting for my number to be called. Selections abound at NeeHee's. I ordered orange chile potatoes from the Indo-Chinese menu and vegetable pakoda (from the pakoda menu, of course). The food was deelish! I am new to Indian Cuisine, so I am learning with the help of friends and coworkers on what to order and how to eat this type of food. So far, my experiences has been good. The reason I like it here is that I find it easy to order, the place is colorful and the staff is reasonably comfortable. I've tried a few different dishes over the visits that I have had, and none of them have disappointed me yet, and my face hasn't melted off from getting food that was to hot and spicy. This is a miracle. I can take some heat, but I have limits! The variety of food here is plentiful, and I could easily eat something different each time I come here. I tend to go for lighter food options, since I am at work when I dine here. It's vegetarian, so no meat, obviously. healthy! Prices are good, and portion sizes are appropriate. My only complaint, since it's happened more then once, is there is never any ice at the fountain station. EVER. I have asked, and nothing ever happens. WHY NO ICE. I had drinking warm pop. Warm beverages are insane! UGH. I docked a star because it shouldn't be like this every single time. The place is colorfully decorated and has plenty of seating. This is quite a different Indian food experience for me as it's not focusing on curries, roti, and biryani like most other places I've been to. Instead, here they have Pakodas, chaat, indo-chinese dishes, and some southern stuffs like Dosa and Idly. The menu was SO huge that it might take a while to go through all of them and figure out what you want. Everything looks really good too! On a side note, they are completely vegetarian (and also vegan-friendly). No meat here, but seriously you won't miss it here. I ended up with Gobi 65 and Idly Chaat. Chaat is a traditional savory snack sold as street food. The flavor to me is a combination of sweet and tangy with a hint of spicy that is really refreshing. It plays with a lot of texture too, which enhances the eating experience. I learned today that Idly is some sort of steamed "cake" made of rice flour and lentil flour, which is a staple breakfast item in the South India. The Idly chat is made of deep fried idly cubes mixed with tamarind chutney, mint-cilantro chutney, yoghurt, and garnished with sev and boondi for that extra crunch. It was really good! I was informed that Gobi 65 is a recipe that came from the army, specifically barrack 65. I don't know in details how it was born, but regardless this is something very easy to love, even by non-vegetarian. It's a crispy fried cauliflower tossed in spicy and incredibly aromatic sauce. It's so filling and delicious you won't mind skipping few chicken dinners for this. price is very reasonable. The place is spacious and there's a lot of table to sit in. It is self serve--you order at the counter and they give you a beeper that will buzz when your order is ready for pick up. In addition to all the tons of food selection, they also have ice cream and interesting beverages. Whether you're a vegetarian or not, do give this place a shot! read more

Nehee's is the spot for some seriously delicious Indian food that tastes super authentic. I find myself coming here a lot because they really nail the quality, plus there's a ton of variety to choose from. It kind of reminds me of Haldiram or Bikaram with all the tasty options. I am not familiar with Indian food so upon walking in, I was entirely overwhelmed with choices. Their menu is extremely large and I didn't even know where to begin. However, they anticipate customers being overwhelmed and one of the employees spent a lot of time explaining what the different items were to us. I narrowed down my decision by avoiding everything with potato because I'm allergic. They took the allergy very seriously and made sure nothing on my plate was cooked with potato, which was much appreciated. Everything I tried was a totally new experience. Of all the things we ordered, the plain rawa dosa was our favorite. It was pretty similar to a crepe but unlike anything I have ever had before. The dahi wada totally blew my mind. It was basically layers of bread soaked in some sort of cold spicy yogurt sauce. Totally wild experience. I would highly recommend trying the sugar cane juice and the mango lassi. They were both absolutely delicious treats to go along with dinner. On our way out we got a scoop of guava ice cream that they make in house. It was amazing! My only issue with the whole experience was how the menu was presented. Their menu boards listed probably hundreds of items and I had no idea where to start. They did have a paper menu with more descriptions but I was still overwhelmed with choices and was unsure of what a lot of things were. Ordered the samosa chaat chole, Gobi Manchurian (cauliflower) and the special guj thali. The wanted the lentil bread but it only comes with a full meal. Argh. They give you a pager after you order. Food was ready fairly quickly. My husband enjoyed all of the thali, less the cold pickled veggies. The thali is a good portion of different samples and filling. The gobi manchurian was good and had a good ratio of veggies and onions with it, breading was a little heavy. Sauce for the manchurian was good. One of my favorite is samosa ragda which is always I order. Along with that had Gobi manchurian, Pani puri, chole bhature. Pani puri and samosa ragda of course as usual and it's amazing. Gobi manchurian the pieces are bigger and would be better cooked if pieces are small. Usually I prefer not to have other items than chaat. But even then as we tried onion rawa dosa and not happy. NeeHee's was recommended me by a friend and I figured I'd try it for lunch! I read reviews that it can be busy during lunch so I arrived right when they opened at 11am and was the first customer. Folks were right as there was a steady stream of lunch traffic following my arrival! I didn't expect NeeHee's to be so large, spacious. It's its own standalone building with its own lot, so there's ample parking. There are large windows which let in a lot of natural light -- good for food photos AND ambience. You order at the counter & you're given a buzzer that buzzes when your food is ready. When you're finished, you just leave your plates on the table! I ordered way too much but had plenty of leftovers. The menu is EXPANSIVE so it's worth it to read through it before you arrive! There are a lot of unique items on this menu that I haven't seen elsewhere. Some of the menu items here I've had before from my international Indian classmates' home cooking. The homey goodness is appreciated and comforting. Note: none of the food was spicy at all but I believe I saw hot sauce packets if you want to add a kick! *C13 Dahi Samosa Chaat (Smashed samosas, topped with sweet tamarind chutney, mint-cilantro chutney, beaten yogurt, onions, spices and topped with sev for that extra crunch.) - I love samosas and love chutney so I knew that I would enjoy this dish. I came here strictly for the Pani Puri! And I was not disappointed. It is by far one of the most special things I've ever eaten and brings me back to being in India, instantly. Even though the whole street food aspect isn't there, you will be delightfully refreshed after eating a few of these. You poke the top of it with your thumb, scoop up some potato stuffing, put a little tamarind sauce (red) in it, and then dip it in the spicy mint water (green) and eat it in one bite. It's delicious, it's magical for those eating it for the first time and nostalgic for those who have eaten it in the motherland. I do not understand the $3.69 price tag for the mango lassi. It's tiny, it costs more than what Indian restaurants charge for a full glass. But it's very good. So I'm objectively rating this just for the food. I love the aesthetic and design of the building, menu, and layout. At first I was disappointed by the lack of meat options, however there are soooo many options on the menu and all are mouth watering you easily forget meat is not an option. I have now been here 2 times and have not been disappointed. Together with my faimily we have tried the Samosa Chaat, Dosa Wrap, Mango Lassi, Chole Bature, and Bhel Puri. Think of India losing WC finals to Pakistan. The food was more disappointing. A bottle of mineral water packs more flavor than the pani puri. Papri chat was oily and yogurt was curdled. While attempting to look at the menu, the man at the register started engaging us in conversation and asking what we like and don't like. That right there was what we needed. He helped us pick a couple of items off of the menu and I'm glad we did. I won't review my husband's food because I didn't try it, but I will review mine. We ordered samosas as an appetizer. Fried perfectly and stuffed with potatoes, pees, and some spices. I really enjoyed it. I didn't care for the dipping sauces. One was very sweet and the other was bland. For my main entree, I had Manchuran Rice. I enjoyed it a lot. It was a type of fried rice with veg balls (delicious), peppers, and onions. It was really good. I got mild, but it still had quite a kick. Ok a con of this place, other than the menu being huge. It sure if this is typical, but there weren't many tables available because they were covered with dirty dishes. Like at least half of the tables. My advice is to study the menu before you come. This review is about our latest experience at Neehees Troy on 7/29/2023. We had ordered Raj Kachori without yogurt and they served it with yogurt added. When we asked the staff to change the order, they very rude and said we needed to check the order before leaving the counter. Do you note down all tweaks to orders on the receipt? Should we check for any and all tweaks to our order by reading an essay on the counter? We did check for the number of items and their names. How will we know that we have to check for all details? And instead of preparing another order with no yogurt for us, your staff rudely dismissed us and told us we could order another one properly if we didn't want this one! Is politeness too much to ask for from the hospitality industry???? We have been coming to Neehee's for years now and this is the treatment we get? Really really disappointed with this! read more
