OMG when I say this restaurant needs to be closed, I mean it. I didn't even get any pictures because I was just so disgusted. My friend convinced me to try this place with her which is why I went (its not close to me at all). The food was surprisingly good considering the fact that previous reviews mentioned mold in their pre-packaged items. The worst thing about this restaurant is the disgusting bathroom. Files were buzzing around my head, piles of tissue and paper towel all over, the toilet was full of piss before I could actually pee & there was barely any soap to wash my hands. I saw one of the employees go to the restroom after me and I know he didnt wash his hands because he was in there for like one minute tops. The fact that I survived after eating there is a miracle because if the bathroom isnt clean then how is the kitchen clean? Needless to say, I will never eat here again. The service was decent but it was still not enough for me to feel comfortable trying this place out another time. read more

Went for the $7.99 lunch buffet as advertised on their website. Got charged $12.99 but they didn't have that price listed anywhere; I felt like they just made up a price for me. Fine, I'm trying not to argue with people anymore and I try the buffet. Nobody seated me, no free glass of water, but sign saying $1 for two small room temp water bottles. I'll go dry. Two types of rice, white and yellow. There were 6 different containers of stuff to put on the rice. The beefy chunks were almost mushy but tasted ok. There were chunks of chicken covered in red that were very tough. Pita bread looked like it came from a bag and tossed in an oven until crisp. Biggest problem is the food was not hot! In fact I wouldn't even say very warm. No heat at the buffet table and I was there at 12:10. I felt the customer service people were not very welcoming or nice. I don't think I'll be back. read more

Their dine-in area is open until 9:30pm. It was rather difficult to get my question across the person answering the phone. You order at the counter, they hand you the bill after you order. The counter is chaotic with the pickup orders for carry out as well as the checkout for the dine-in. We ordered the butter chicken, chicken tikka, Chana masala and veggie korma, all medium plus, no rice. Each dish comes with a naan bread. We also ordered two mango lassi for our drinks. The mango lassi is okay, not as sweet or mango filled as I would have liked. The chicken tikka is bone dry. It's not freshly grilled, it's cold too. I did let them know how dry their chicken tikka was, their response was that's how it's supposed to be. I said not that dry. The butter chicken is delicious, the sauce is so yummy. The chicken isn't too dry. The Chana masala is scalding hot and quite oily too, not my favorite. The veggie korma is decent. The plain naan is, well, it's quite plain. I actually can't believe how little flavor this dish had. We've gone here in the past and each time the quality declines. They hung up on me before I was done ordering and it was a thirty minute wait; which I would have known if they didn't hang up on me. Look at the quantity of bones, I was charged $15 for this. To answer those wondering if it was complimentary, it was not. Despite feeling unwell, I returned to the restaurant and attempted to speak with the manager, but the impolite staff protected one another, and I left without a refund or food. Seeing all those bones had already diminished my appetite, and I no longer wanted their food. This experience was awful, unexpected, and very sad! read more

I've been on the look for Indian food and this did not disappoint. Biryani was goat and it was delicious, we ordered medium spiced and it was perfect. The nan wasn't exceptional but still good. East side has very few Indian restaurants so was really wanting to like this place. Very reasonable prices but Food was just ok. Inside has large amount of seating but Decor inside is somewhat dingy with lack of cleanliness in many aspects. Came here with the family after an outing and it was satisfying. Everything was good, the food didn't take long and it wasn't expensive. We ordered the chicken rolls, potato samosa and pakora as appetizers, mango lassi (which was pretty thin compared to the standard) and then a few entrees. We had the chicken tikka, roganjosh (which was spicy), a shrimp dish, mixed grill, chicken biryani, rice and naan. Everything was delicious. My only concern was that the chicken tikka was like neon red because of the excess food coloring. It was nice to look at but not really appealing to eat, although it still tasted good. And maybe it shouldn't be that big of a deal, but appetizers are served on disposable plates. But no biggie but as the first thing you serve, presentation should always be key. read more

Stopped in here for a simple order. While waiting, heard a smacking sound and turned around to find the employee was using a fly swatter to kill flies - right next to where he was preparing someone's carry out order! Disgusting!! I'm certain this has to be a health code violation, but it appears to be common practice. It makes me question the sanitation practices used in the rest of the facility, or lack thereof. Go to Hamtramck when I can to get Aladdin's, tried this on the way home from work because I didn't feel like going down to Aladdin's. Prices are pretty close and the food is very similar. Guy working the counter (owner?) was very accommodating. They don't even have gobi Manchurian on the menu but he made me a cauliflower dish anyway. Chicken Tikka was different from last time I had it, very good with a strong onion flavor, still sweet and savory with notes of cinnamon. Chicken 65 was for chili forward than others I've had, reminded me of buffalo sauce, very good. I also was inquiring about mint chutney and mango lassi, he gave me a giant mint chutney and a free lassi! Awesome experience. Will be back. read more

Went last week and wanted to drop a review because this place is the whip, it was a hit. We all enjoyed our food, it was very tasty. The Shashi paneer was a little sweet but still well liked, and my go to the chicken Tikka masala was tasty. All the apps and naan bread were very good. Ahhhh I wanna day the person who took my ordered acted worse than a twelve year old on the phone. And I mean that in a way that most twelve year olds don't have customer service experience. She just kept trying to finalize my order after each thing I said and I had already mentioned twice I had a list of dishes. ??? I was getting the feeling that she wanted to get back to watching YouTube haha. But ultimately my low rating is cuz they completely messed up our expensive order and while I normally always call back and let a place know, I've got too much going on personally to do so. I just won't go back. And I'm not even sure why they messed up. The girl repeated everything back to me perfectly. ??? To begin I ordered strawberry lassi from the menu. "We don't have that". Ok then I'll have mango lassi. "Ok.is that all?" No I'll have an order each of samosas, meat and veggie. "One each?" Yup - one order each (the menu states there are two in each order.) "is that all?" No I have a few plates to order. ... "were kinda busy right now so that will be 15 minutes." Ok. Drive there in ten, wait in car 5. Equals 15 minutes. My husband goes into the place to pick up food. There is a table of 4 eating. I'm waiting in car 15 - 20 minutes. I text him. What's going on? He answers they don't have mango smoothie. OK. Whatever. Another 15 minutes. What's going on? He answers - hang on they messed up our order. Another 15 minutes - WTF I text him. Let's go already. He answers - we'll be right out. Finally he and my daughter come out. It's over an hour since we ordered our food "I think they messed up our order. I think the chef forgot to make something. The girl was yelling at him." I ask him if he checked it to be sure it was right. No he did not. Just wants to leave now. We get home and find out samosas are 1/2 orders and no naan. Arabs have a hard time eating their meals without bread. It's sorta like their fork. So luckily we have some of our own. All that bad service aside, my tandoori chicken was quite tasty. His biriyani was "ok" he said in a meh tone. Oh well. Good thing there are other places to order food :) So to make a long story shorter, each main dish should come with naan. Yep, missed that. And each samosa order should have two samosa. Missed that too - came as single samosas but charged $4 each. WoW. read more

My first visit was on a Monday and I really did have any expectations. It was late and I did feel like cooking for the family so I picked up a couple of dishes from Bismillah. My family and I absolutely loved the food. The flavors and spices were right on and provided a very authentic meal experience. I raved about the meal Monday night so much so that my sister ordered dinner from Bismillah on Tuesday. When I called her on Wednesday she also had such satisfaction with her entree choice.
