Went for the $7.99 lunch buffet as advertised on their website. Got charged $12.99 but they didn't have that price listed anywhere; I felt like they just made up a price for me. Fine, I'm trying not to argue with people anymore and I try the buffet. Nobody seated me, no free glass of water, but sign saying $1 for two small room temp water bottles. I'll go dry. Two types of rice, white and yellow. There were 6 different containers of stuff to put on the rice. The beefy chunks were almost mushy but tasted ok. There were chunks of chicken covered in red that were very tough. Pita bread looked like it came from a bag and tossed in an oven until crisp. Biggest problem is the food was not hot! In fact I wouldn't even say very warm. No heat at the buffet table and I was there at 12:10. I felt the customer service people were not very welcoming or nice. I don't think I'll be back.

Their dine-in area is open until 9:30pm. It was rather difficult to get my question across the person answering the phone. You order at the counter, they hand you the bill after you order. The counter is chaotic with the pickup orders for carry out as well as the checkout for the dine-in. We ordered the butter chicken, chicken tikka, Chana masala and veggie korma, all medium plus, no rice. Each dish comes with a naan bread. We also ordered two mango lassi for our drinks. The mango lassi is okay, not as sweet or mango filled as I would have liked. The chicken tikka is bone dry. It's not freshly grilled, it's cold too. I did let them know how dry their chicken tikka was, their response was that's how it's supposed to be. I said not that dry. The butter chicken is delicious, the sauce is so yummy. The chicken isn't too dry. The Chana masala is scalding hot and quite oily too, not my favorite. The veggie korma is decent. The plain naan is, well, it's quite plain. Staff are all nice enough. $48.70 was our total.

Located corner 10 mile n Ryan a fantastic Bangladesh Restaurant with lunch Buffet. M-F till 4pm a mega deal for $12.99 with large dining room. Love the Butter Chicken, Chicken Biryia, Spinach n Chicken, tender juicy Beef. Hot n fresh a selection of eight items Naan Bread and bottled water . A very busy place for take out, at least 50 people picking up orders while eating inside. Picked up a hot box full of marvelous treats for home, all delicious . We had a fun experience and will go back for more. #bismillahkebab #bangladesh #indianbuffet #butterchicken #warrenmi #naan #kebeb

I actually can't believe how little flavor this dish had. We've gone here in the past and each time the quality declines. They hung up on me before I was done ordering and it was a thirty minute wait; which I would have known if they didn't hang up on me. The most flavor in this dish came from the chicken, which wasn't from spice at all. The biggest waste of $30 I've ever spent. I can honestly say we will never be back.

Look at the quantity of bones, I was charged $15 for this. To answer those wondering if it was complimentary, it was not. Despite feeling unwell, I returned to the restaurant and attempted to speak with the manager, but the impolite staff protected one another, and I left without a refund or food. Seeing all those bones had already diminished my appetite, and I no longer wanted their food. This experience was awful, unexpected, and very sad!

I've been on the look for Indian food and this did not disappoint. Biryani was goat and it was delicious, we ordered medium spiced and it was perfect. The nan wasn't exceptional but still good. The other dish was lamb Qurna and had a bit of a sweet flavor to it. The combination was great!

Honestly, this is the worst restaurant I've ever been in cause people from there kind were served before me and I've been waiting for my order for 30 min food was bad employees weren't helpful. Plus food had hair in it. And I can not stand the dirty looks of them. If there was a 0 star option I would have done it

Came here with the family after an outing and it was satisfying. Everything was good, the food didn't take long and it wasn't expensive. We ordered the chicken rolls, potato samosa and pakora as appetizers, mango lassi (which was pretty thin compared to the standard) and then a few entrees. We had the chicken tikka, roganjosh (which was spicy), a shrimp dish, mixed grill, chicken biryani, rice and naan. Everything was delicious. My only concern was that the chicken tikka was like neon red because of the excess food coloring. It was nice to look at but not really appealing to eat, although it still tasted good. And maybe it shouldn't be that big of a deal, but appetizers are served on disposable plates. But no biggie but as the first thing you serve, presentation should always be key.

Stopped in here for a simple order. While waiting, heard a smacking sound and turned around to find the employee was using a fly swatter to kill flies - right next to where he was preparing someone's carry out order! Disgusting!! I'm certain this has to be a health code violation, but it appears to be common practice. It makes me question the sanitation practices used in the rest of the facility, or lack thereof. Have to wonder what it is we don't see. I've been in here a couple of times before for carry out, but I will not be visiting this establishment again after having seen this.

From the moment I…read morewalked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and genuinely friendly service that made me feel welcome right away. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and always seemed happy to help with recommendations. That kind of hospitality goes a long way, and it's something that really stood out during my visit. The ambiance strikes a great balance between comfortable and inviting. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere that's perfect whether you're stopping in for a casual lunch, a family dinner, or meeting up with friends. Everything felt clean, organized, and well-maintained, creating an environment where you can settle in and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. Now for the food--the star of the show was definitely the butter chicken. It was absolutely outstanding. The chicken was incredibly tender, and the sauce was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. It had that perfect balance of savory spices and subtle sweetness that makes butter chicken such a beloved dish. Every bite felt comforting and satisfying, especially when paired with fresh naan to soak up every last bit of that amazing sauce. What I appreciate about Star of India is the variety on the menu. Beyond the butter chicken, there are so many classic Indian favorites that make this place worth coming back to again and again. The chicken tikka masala is full of bold flavor, the biryani is fragrant and satisfying, and the curry options offer something for everyone, whether you enjoy mild dishes or prefer a little extra spice. The menu does a great job showcasing the depth and variety of Indian cuisine, making it easy to find something you'll love. The portions are generous, and the value is excellent for the quality of food you receive. In a time when dining out can get expensive quickly, it's refreshing to find a restaurant that delivers both quality and quantity without cutting corners. You leave feeling like you got your money's worth. As someone who loves supporting local businesses, places like Star of India make me proud of the Ferndale dining scene. Ferndale has built a reputation for great food and a strong sense of community, and Star of India fits right in. Between the exceptional service, welcoming atmosphere, delicious food, and great value, it's easy to see why so many people keep coming back. If you're anywhere near Ferndale and craving authentic, flavorful Indian food, Star of India deserves a spot at the top of your list. I'll definitely be back, and I can't wait to explore even more of the menu next time.

It's been a while I had good Indian food in this area and it seems like a great place. We ordered kadhai paneer and lamb chops and both turned out great. Point to note for ourselves is to order spice level as hot for myself and medium for my white American bf whose spice tolerance isn't as high like myself but more than a mild for sure. Service was great. It is a family run business so the owner himself comes out to take feedback and talk to the guests that shows us the dedication in running this place.. we have to come back again for this as I want to try their biryanis. Butter chicken was creamy and savory. Chicken was tender. Hit all the spots for this iconic dish. Wanted to get this dish so I could judge it objectively rather than try something new like I did last time. I'm glad I did and happy to report while the chicken was good, the sauce was even better and paired beautifully with naan and rice. The sauce does come with some spice at baseline even if ordered with no spice but it blended well unlike last time. Lamb chop was my "special order"; again, glad I ordered it. Lamb chops (x5) were cooked well, with a hint of pink, and mixed perfectly with Indian spices. I am happy to say these were devoured quickly after opening. It was a 5/5 dish that paired favorably with the sauciness of the butter chicken. The owner contacted me himself, apparently there was an interim chef at the time of my initial review who did not make the dishes accordingly and who has now left. I was told I was not the only complaint. I am happy to say the owner - Sam - was cordial and apologetic about the situation. He made sure the dishes were cooked to his standards this time. There are few restaurants who's owners would go above and beyond in a situation like this and I will definitely be returning to Royal Oak Masala.

Not spicy. Heavy breading. The cauliflower falls out of some of the breading. The Daal soup is good, although quite watery. The mango and butter chicken sauce flavors are good, the spicy is definitely got a healthy kick. The chicken pieces are big chunks and they are dry and overcooked. The butter naan is good soft and billowy. The Chana and dal tadka tasted okay, although I did find either a white hair or white stringy lint in the Chana. I was told it might be onion or ginger. Keep seeing lots of folks picking up orders and double parking their cars in the driveway to come in and pick up their carry out orders. Ordered starter Gobi Manchurian, veggie samosa, 2 dal soup, Chana masala, Tarka daal, mushroom bhaji and tandoori chicken. $94.24 They gave us the crunchy thin Papadum. Be careful while eating that the seasoning on top doesn't flip up into your eyes, it did that to my husband. He flicked off the seasoning so it wouldn't do it again. The Papadum is good. There was a random empty water bottle at the table. Table top is peeling, needs a refinish. I would put the fly strip in a more discrete spot and not hang it in the vestibule behind the counter. The samosas are good, dough is nice and light, like a wonton and it's packed with potatoes, peas and corn, which is a bit odd. It's better with some chutney. The Gobi Manchurian tastes good, just not crispy at all. The lentil soup is scalding, it's good. I like the roasted garlic in the soup and added some lemon to it as well. The Chana masala is okay, they put potatoes in it as filler instead of more chick peas. Other than the potatoes, it's good. The butter chicken is rather sweet, it's still pretty good.
