So I'm thinking 3-4 hour job, given he quoted me $522. NOPE! Asked my tenant later, and he told me 40 minutes. YEP - $522 for 40 minutes. I don't have lawyers or doctors making that much per hour, but these folks think they are entitled to rip people off to that tune. And the worst? They wouldn't even let me use the coupon because "we threw in extra work we didn't charge you for." REALLY? In 40 stinking minutes???? How much extra work can one do when the job is so so so complicated, as Bill originally told me! These folks are professional scammers and cons. The coupon is a farse. Their billing folks are inept and rude. Can't reason at all or ask for documentation justifying $780 per hour, etc. Keep getting cut off and threats made, etc. Too late for me, but not for you. Not trustworthy at all. We made the mistake of not doing our research for a service before we scheduled. We ended up paying $850 instead of the $300 that the competitors would have charged. When a garage door breaks unexpectedly, you have no choice but to call somebody to repair it. I called this company. They came and repaired it. The gentleman who came out to my house was about two hours later than the expected time, but there was plenty of communication and that posed no problems whatsoever for us. Pre-repair communication was excellent. The work was done, and the price was the price. We had no opportunity to shop around. $699 for a motor, 2 remotes and keypad installed. Supposedly we got a discount. At the end of the day the job was done to my satisfaction, but had I met the installer or had the conversation I had during and after the installation, I don't know that I would have selected this company. Clearly there are very few communications skills associated with installer training. I really prefer when companies understand that customers like the use of "please" and "thank you." In particular, when a customer asks a question it's generally good practice to answer it without sarcasm. Some organizations have a harder time making that connection than others. I'm sure the job would be easier without the customer, but it probably wouldn't pay as well. Finally, I am appalled at being *told* to write a check for an amount and that I'd get to see a detailed invoice after an "electronic deposit" of my check. My complaint is Customer Service the Door Dept. The man I spoke with was rude and yelled at me as if he was talking to a child of his. We purchased two doors from this company in 2018. One of the doors' hinges ripped off the door in November 2021. Tech came out and "supposedly"repaired it. My door just broke again and the manager first wants me to buy another door for $1300.00 instead of fixing the door I've had for 4 years. Technician came and fixed door in Sunday, about an hour after replacing spring and tech. left....garage door was not fully opening...just about halfway. I texted dispatch at same number they were texting me on Sunday. Didn't hear back. I finally called on Wednesday morning. Garage door is not opening up 2 ft. Unable to get a technician out until Thursday or Friday. Sucks to be sitting in the driveway if your own home and can't get in. I don't carry keys for personal reasons but this really sucks. Cable broke and I contacted this company out of the "Reach" magazine add. Add sounded good so I made an appointment over the phone and person I spoke with stated it was a $30 service fee to estimate the problem. My problem was that a (one) cable had broken. The Technician started out with a $375 estimate, stating the cable would cost $184 alone. I had the reach"coupon" so he lowered the price to $325. The estimate still seemed high for replacing a cable, but I agreed to the service as he stated he would also lubricate everything and replace the second cable, and he was there. The next day, as I was waiting for the door to completely close, I heard a loud banging, metal to metal, and upon examination determined that the roller that the new cable was on was hitting the metal brace at the end of the function. I checked the other cable where and found the was canted so it did not hit the brace, therefore no loud banging. I called the company, and the service technician came out to what I thought was going to be a quick adjustment. Important fact, we have lived in this house for 20 years and have never had a problem with our garage doors. Technician said he would have to change the position of the brace and it would be another $200 plus. A conversation did not help so I said I would call the office. He then asked if I was going to tell a bunch of lies about him. That ended our conversation, and I asked him to leave. I called the office and customer service said there was nothing they could or would so to solve the problem. Now that I read the other reviews of this company, I "get it". I asked well, if I went with your service what would happen to the $35.00. She stated "well we can waive that". On March 14th a Tuesday this year I had an appointment at 10:00 I think he got here at 11:00 that's not a real problem he talked to me and answered questions about the cost of new doors and after a little discussion my two hinges one on each side that gave me trouble he said the cheapest I can do something is $150 plus tax here in Kentucky Walton that is it is 6% and the bill ended up being just close to 171 which 150 + tax $9 would be $159 my problem with all of this is when I agree he knocked on my door less then 10 minutes later maybe 5 minutes and I was surprised but he replaced two hinges that shouldn't cost very much I called the office they said the contractors basically call the shots and they have went up 80% on cost she said so the coupon and the false advertisement is basically not true he came from Columbus about a two and a half hour drive so I guess I had to make up for his Drive very aggravated with the overcharge but I am thankful for the two hinges I could have bought fairly cheap much cheaper than his and installed them myself but I didn't know that was the only problem or I would have never called them read more

My garage door spring broke and this was the first place that came up on my Google search so I called. I thought it was a local company and they said they could have someone out in a couple hours so I could get out and get to work, so I said come on out. After 2 hours I called back and they said it would be another 2 hours, the guy's first job of the morning took longer than expected. Eventually the repair guy showed up, said it would be $600 to replace the springs and pulleys, AFTER a $75 off coupon I found on their website. I had no idea at the time that this is a HIGHLY inflated price. My husband called after he had began the work and said he had talked to two other places who said it would be half the price and he basically said he already started the job, we're on the hook for the bill. Took less than an hour for the whole repair and they charged me an extra 3% to pay with a card!!! Purchased a "Lube and Tune" special from Groupon. Springs were squealing loudly and door was askew when closed, leaving about a 2in gap on one side. Technician came out and sprayed silicone lubricant on springs, which did help. When I asked him about the gap, he stated it was bc the foundation/floor had settled and shifted. This seemed odd to me, as placing a level on the ground and around the garage door opening all shows everything is OK. However, he said if I purchased the upgraded rollers, he would try to straighten out the track for me "as part of the deal". The door does seem to close a little bit better, but there is still a noticeable gap. He also pointed out the fact that the door was still using the old-style springs, and that I should replace those with the newer version soon. However, instead of recommending I call the company back, he gave me his personal phone number and asked that I call him directly. The entire experience seemed a little shady to me, and in the end I feel like I spent $125 for some fancy rollers and upgraded WD-40. read more

I wasn't going to write a review because our situation was so unusual and the job was never completed but, after much thought, I believe the outcome says a lot about this company. On 8/28/19, our garage door stopped working. My husband called several companies before finding one who could come out that day. Neigborhood Garage Door Services advertises same-day, 24/7 service. I met the young technician at the front door around 6:30PM and took him downstairs through the basement to the garage. The garage door was closed at this point. He asked to borrow our step ladder to try to get a look inside opener (his tools/equipment were outside the closed door in the driveway). He asked me to try to open garage with pad while he looked inside opener. After a few moments, I said I was going upstairs and to let me know if he needed anything. Approximately 5-10 minutes later, I hear a loud noise and a cry. I opened the basement door and the technician was coming up the stairs with his hand wrapped in the lower half of his t-shirt that was circled with blood. He was very upset/anxious and said, "I saw bone." I grabbed a large gauze pad from our First Aid Kit and a bag of ice which he wrapped around his finger. He called his mother who planned to pick him up at my house but I told her to meet him at the ER (very close to our house.) At that point, we got in my car and drove to the ER. I made sure he was checked in and left when I was told he was next to be seen. My husband called the company that evening to arrange for the injured technician's truck to be picked up and to see if another technician could be sent out to fix our garage door. They did come to pick up the truck but my husband was told that it would be 1-2 days before someone else would be available to fix our garage door and that they'd contact us. What happened to same-day, 24/7 service?? The next morning, my husband called the company to say we did not need their services as we were able to contract with another company to fix our garage door. I think what baffles me the most about this situation is that no one has ever called to follow up or to ask what they could do better. read more

Went to leave the house this morning and discovered that my garage door only went up about a foot and then came back down! I pushed the button again and the same thing happened. Considering we have a normal-sized car, that clearance wasn't going to be enough for me to back out of my garage. Upon closer inspection, I discovered that the spring that helps lift the garage door had broken and was going to need to be replaced. I know this is a dangerous job as those springs can pack a lot of torque and special tools are needed to get the job done safely. We called neighborhood garage door service and they were at our door within an hour! The technician was courteous and friendly and had the parts with him to do the job right then and there. About 30 minutes later we heard the garage door going up and down and knew that we were back in business! read more

Our springs broke last night and the garage door slammed down. The door was originally installed by Doors Galore. They did a lousy job and the crew was the kind of people you wouldn't leave your kids alone with for 10 seconds. I knew I wasn't going to ever call them back so I searched online for someone else. I found these guys and called about 10am. They sent Brandon out by 1pm. He did a great job replacing the springs and all the rollers and a hinge and greased everything for $425. It was very reasonable and he was done in a little more than an hour. Nice guy and good work. I was also impressed with the text messages, phone call, emailed receipt and finally a call from quality control to make sure I was happy. I recommend them. read more

I had Neighborhood Garage Door Service install a Liftmaster 8550W and is works beautifully. The Service Tech did excellent work and was very customer friendly. They installed in the evening so I did not have to take off work, which was a blessing for me. The unit is very quiet and loaded with features like WiFi, Battery Backup, Motion Detector, Outside Key Pad that is very easy to operate and change pass codes and an indoor keypad that show the temperature and time. I thought I might save a buck or two and was taken to the cleaners. Live and learn. My current home is the first one I've had that has an attached garage, so I had no reference point for the cost of repair. Thank God I did not allow them to do the installation and sought a second opinion. They quoted me nearly triple of what it should have cost and it turns out that opener I have has a lifetime motor warranty, which means I did not need a new system at all! I fell for the Valpak ad and had them come give me a quote for $20. The Tech spent a lot of time explaining the the condition of the garage door was a safety hazard, potentially life threatening. He needed to replace 2 springs, a drive belt and affix a plate to the roof. After much back and forth with his manager, they were willing to do this for the bargain price of $750. I called another company and had the same work done for $309. I will be posting a positive review of PDQ Garage doors next. Came for a tune-up purchased on Groupon. Motor had been making grinding noises and apparently had to be replaced. Friendly technicians, fast service. They replaced the motor, track, and sensors with two new remotes and a new wall opener--an outdoor keypad ($69 retail) was "thrown in" for free for a grand total of $473. Technicians showed me how to use the outdoor keypad and left me the box and warranty paperwork on the motor. A minor beef was they wanted to leave the old motor and track--when I asked about it, they wanted to charge me $25, but easily relented and hauled it away for free. Also wish I had a choice on the wall opener. Additionally, it would have been nice had they removed the old, incompatible wall opener and wiring, rather than leaving it. No one likes unexpected expenses, but Neighborhood Garage Door Service handled it well. read more

This company is a complete scam! Let me tell you my experience. So my garage door comes up and stops about ankle or knee high so I saw an ad they run with a $50 off coupon on any garage repair and decided to have them come out and fix it. The tech coms out and after me telling him what it does and him looking into it he says" you need a new spring". He told me it was going to be $300 so I decided to have them fix it. After 20 minutes or so of him working on it I go to get my coupon ( he didn't know I had it ) and tell him I have a $50 off any garage repair coupon they run. He said " no no no we cannot take that" so I told him to hold on and I called in and they put me on hold and hung up. I dialed right back and told them they just hung up on me and they put me back on hold. After being on hold for over 5 minutes with nobody coming back I decided to pay the tech and send him on his way. Next day I come home my garage door is doing the exact same thing and doesn't come up. I called and told them that it didn't fix my problem and they decided to send another tech back out. The same guy shows up and sees that the same thing is wrong with my garage door and then proceeds to tell me I need a new motor! The same guy that told me the spring would fix my problem. Guess he was wrong huh? SO I ask how much for a new motor and he tells me $349 I told him to hold on and I called in to talk to a manager. I told the manager why would I have to pay another $349 when I already paid $300 for a spring that didn't fix my problem. After arguing with me and not letting me talk he proceeds to tell me he will give me a great deal on the motor and quotes me $349 but tell me it is a $500 plus motor and they will give me that deal to help me out lol. I then told him the tech in my garage already offered me the motor for $349 so it isn't no deal he is giving me a and basically caught him lying to me. Since I have had other friends of mine call in and they got quoted the same $349 for this motor that they were supposedly giving me a great deal on to " help me out" ! What a scam. I have talked to 4 managers now and not 1 of them understands my situation or cares about me being out $300 and it not getting fixed. WOULD YOU PAY $300 FOR A NEW SPRING AND COME TO FIND OUT IT DIDN'T FIX YOUR PROBLEM AND THEN BUY A NEW MOTOR AT FULL PRICE? The units they sell are overpriced for our area as per research and when I stated that I had plenty of more affordable options than what they offered, they reduced their pricing to match competition. I had my garage door repaired about 6 months ago. I paid around 500 dollars and it has already come off its hinges. I don't even use it to park my car so it only gets used a couple times a week. I normally don't post bad reviews but I have reached out twice and emailed and no one has responded back. Update a week later They finally reached out to me to try and schedule a service to repair I took off work for it and three days in a row they have said they are unable to make the appointment and will need to reschedule the next day after having waited around all day- I'm not sure if they just want me to get fed up and go to someone else so they don't have to complete the warranty or what is going on. read more

I asked again and said 2 pm and was told before 2 pm. I waited and no call and no repair person showed up. I called and they said it would be after 5 pm and before 6 pm and was told they hoped that was not too late. I told them it was and said forget it. IF I could turn back the clock and never deal with this company!!! They came out to my home to fix a door someone had tried to break in. It was out of alignment. Rep arrived the first time alright and proceeded to replace rollers and 'adjust' and left in less than an hour after I had let him in. I come home and the door still tracks crooked and I receive a bill for $400. I was dissatisfied with cost and workmanship as the original reason for having them come out was not fixed. As they had not been paid, I requested someone else to come out and fix it. First appt follow up and no one shows or calls. Second follow up is scheduled and nobody shows or calls. Finally, when I call, someone shows up and makes some minor adjustments to improve door tracking slightly. They threatened collections and acted like I was the bad guy for wanting my door fixed before I paid them. Further, they charged 3+% to pay with a card.
