They named themselves as the contractor on our permit without us contracting with them. After reaching out to the county for a copy of the application, I discovered that details were added to our form after my signature, without any notification to me. Not only was I surprised to see Northside Remodeling and Willie Middleton's name on the permit & application, I was extremely surprised to find my signature on a document I didn't fill out. This unexpected change left me feeling very uneasy, questioning the level of honesty with this business. The basement project itself was rife with issues - rough-in plumbing done incorrectly, window egress not installed to code, framing not complete or installed correctly. In Georgia, the licensed contractor on the permit is accountable and responsible for the work to be done to code. We have since had to hire a new contractor and pay additional money to fix these errors. It wasn't the smooth experience I hoped for, and I personally would want to find a company that emphasizes clear and upfront communication.

They gave me references to check. My project was done in a timely manner (within 5 months), on (my) budget. The price included the best insulation, and a new heat/air unit. Adam suggested a beautiful white washed pine for the vaulted ceiling. The windows were top quality. My work with the Lifecycle Building Center led me to insist that we reuse and recycle whenever possible. The project manager worked with me: reused some of my deck wood; installed the most gorgeous pair of 8' French doors that came from a Buckhead home; sub-flooring came from deconstructed production studio set. Adam transformed the chimney wall for my indoor fireplace from an annoying intrusion into the focal point: we covered it with (recycled) pallet wood! His crews were responsive, on time, great with clean up and great with collaborating when we hit decision-points on the job. The craftsmanship is top notch. My room is magnificent. What I learned is that I wisely gave up on a previous contractor who had priced this same room with cost cutting features for 40% more. I didn't have to scale down my expectations. Despite clear and indisputable evidence that his actions caused all of the damage I claim, Mike refuses to take any responsibility. He makes claims, but has zero evidence to support these claims. Even more concerning, Bussie Contracting Services is an illegally operating business that is NOT licensed as a residential contractor in the State of Georgia, which is a clear violation of O.C.G.A. § 43-41-2 and § 43-41-17, which require a valid PLB-issued license for residential projects exceeding $2,500. My project was well over that amount. As a result, I am currently preparing to file a formal complaint with the Georgia Professional Licensing Board, which has the authority to: * Investigate and take legal action against unlicensed contractors, * Impose civil penalties up to $5,000 per violation, and * Shut down unlicensed construction businesses and prohibit them from operating in Georgia. If you're considering hiring this company, verify their licensing status carefully. I strongly advise others not to make the same mistake I did.

Two informed me that "no" I could not have a drywall ceiling, that I was stuck with a drop ceiling; "no" we can not put a pocket door in this wall; "no" we can't remove a wall. And then there was Mike! I knew from our first telephone conversation that he was the one! I was right! I have a beautiful tray ceiling of drywall, I have a perfect pocket door and there is no more divider wall. Mike spent 1 1/2 hours with me in my basement during the bid process. He is one of the nicest men I have met. He is kind and thoughtful. He listens and then translates builder language into words that I could understand. Mike was so thorough! He noticed a wall that had been built incorrectly and suggested he rebuild it correctly. This will allow me to mount a TV on that wall! He took the time to remove several of the existing drop ceiling tiles and really looked to see what was happening above the tiles and said "yes" we can do a drywall ceiling. Mike suggested other little things like where I planned to mount the TV and he installed the outlet high on the wall to avoid the TV cord being seen. He suggested moving a wall out into the room 20 inches so that the future bathroom would be bigger. I never realized how small that bathroom would be, but Mike did, and his idea was perfect. There were also so many extras that Mike just took care of for me that saved me time and money. I really appreciate his kindness! I am blown away by my new basement. It used to be dark and dreary, and I never used that room. Now it is my favorite room in the house. Bussie started the day they said they would start and finished one day earlier than expected and even came in UNDER the original budget. You will not meet a nicer man and he will do what he says he will do and even go the extra mile to make the customer happy! I can't wait to have Bussie Contracting back to my house for a porch rebuild, kitchen and bathroom remodel as soon as possible!
